I know when I saw this performed live I couldn't sing along I could just stand there and cry. It was kind of a shame to see people smiling and dancing and singing along without feeling the impact.
You truly want to see the power of this song...watch him perform it live... the raw emotion is intense...and emotion is not something most people associate with electronic music...
esta melodia tiene que ser compartida de algun modo....demasiado profundo no tengo palabras para explicar lo que siento cada vez que la escucho, mis respetos para 23..
@Hoxxz damn that is pretty deep, i lost my father to suicide 2 years ago and on July 30th I found my mother after she did the same. I often listed to this song, to express my feelings over my dad...and now wow...it really hits home. I know that I'm sorry for your loss doesn't take away any of the pain. I am sorry that your sister chose the same path as my parents. It is betrayal of the deepest kind and if you ever need to talk with someone that understands...im here.
Sad to know Tom's father has taken his life. We dont know how much they really meant to us untill they are gone. We had a close family member whos life was taken from us by a careless driver recently. The things about them we now miss, even the parts that used to annoy us are missed. We always wish we could have done something to change what happened. Never take matters into bothersome ways, and always love them while you have them
In the end.. when the voice changes slightly surreal and the sun shines through the clouds.. it's almost like the deceased one is looking down and hearing them say these words to them the whole time.. and finally when the voice sound changes at this point, it's as if the deceased one is the one finally saying these words to the living... because now the living is "disappointed"... :o
I'm looking for a particular mix of this song... It starts with piano and leads into the lyrics "And so I ask for one more chance..". It's a much slower and moodier version, and I can't seem to find it anywhere. Would appreciate any help I can get in finding it. Thanks.
@Nerolus I completely agree. Definitely check out more of his work. It's all amazing. Each album has a very VERY different feel, some much darker, some more angry, some very introspective, others more contemplative about other things. All, however, are deeply personal and moving.
@KapStuf Best songwriters ten years ago, you mean? Or for the past decade? I don't know man. They're all decent for sure, but there's a lot more good songwriting than those few remnants of ebm/synthpop :P
@KapStuf Right now? The specific bands you're referring to have been around for quite a while. I'm not disagreeing with you, at all. So I don't want to cause a fuss...
I just think you had better let everyone else know that these bands have been this amazing for longer than the b.s. on the radio. :D
@noirdesir13 It's true there aren't many new good synthpop bands, but there's not many new good bands bands in *any* genre. And most of the old synthpoppers are still making good stuff.
best song ever to zone out to o-o .... get lost in the beat... the lyrics... surface... repeat the lyrics to these songs speak such truth... so relatable too,
From the 1993 Clint Eastwood movie "In the Line of Fire", is the source for the sample "Do you believe in the nobility of suicide?" spoken by John Malkovich to Clint Eastwood in the elevator scene.
@achilleasloutraki Songs such as this can help with the flow of emotions that need to be released and experienced in order to make the journey to some kind of recovery.
All you can do is cry to this song, asking for forgiveness, to know the answers. Wanting just one more time or chance to get it all back, and to recognize what was happening. To ask yourself, "Would it really matter?" "What could/can I do?" These are hard questions to answer, I say that I'd help them, save them, but it's all lies. I'm just as useless as the next. T.T
@ditrapped Yea it's like you can't write sad songs anymore without somebody making it emo. I mean depression and so forth exist outside of youth culture. Emo is just sad to be cool, it's like to be depressed is cool or something it's not. Depression is horrible, it's not supposed to be popular.
@jontskinner emo? why the fuck would somebody want to pretend to be depressed or an outcast i dont get it why people would label them selfs but ill label retards when i see them besides most of them are fakers i was depressed i dident cut my self or wear black and make a scene like my life was horrible cause although it was not happy their are good times and bad times so i agree its not supposed to be popular
@isaacnelson1234 I agree with you, I didn't say everyone who was depressed was faking it and I was depressed before too. I was calling out the fakers not people who are suffering from a medical condition.
I was lucky enough to meet Tom after a show some years ago. To be able to express my gratitude for this song was cathartic. The father of my sons committed suicide and this song helped me see things from my sons' point of view and therefore better understand what they were going through and help them through it.
My friend killed himself last night. I'm just glad I got to tell him how much I cared about him a few days before he did it. This song validates what I'm feeling, and I'm grateful to know that I'm not alone in this.
@glamazonlain I am terrible sorry at your friends suicide. My brother commited suicide about 14 years ago. We have to respect thier decisions even if it was the worst ones...because we love them. I know we shouldnt follow the same path because I know they would tell us not too. Rest in peace to those who took their own lives.
