@bottledupinside1 Where did you get that? the script writer was Graham Yost. I got the dvd with movie audio commentary with him and the producer,Mark Gordon
@bottledupinside1 I Know The Difference,but I didn't express myself very well.You don't have to be rude right away.Seriously....dude.
About your previous comment: i didn't hear that anywhere,so i was just curious.from the audio commentary Graham Yost made it sound as if the whole thing(the story,as you say)was His Idea From The Start. At least to me it sounded that way...
@svenstoffels It's because the main composer of the Metal Gear Soundtracks has said that the music of this film was highly influential for him in his works..
The MGS composer swiped from this soundtrack, that's pretty obvious, I would like to say that he took his inspiration from this, but I'm not convinced of that.
@mepizzasmangled I've always thought so as well, so I put together a mash-up. You can search "Speed and Metal Gear Solid soundtracks mash-up" or check my channel.
Haha this music is so nostalgic to me...'Speed' was one of my favorite childhood movies (yeah I know weird especially for a girl some might say) but I watched it over and over again. xD
This movie is about a runaway bus rigged to explode if going under 50mph. I bet when the movie came out, at least ONE PERSON somewhere in America, went to see this movie because they thought it was about the drug, speed.
@Sony18241 Dangerous Liasons was before Bill and Ted's, and he did a bunch of drama's before Bill and Ted.. He had several great films before his comedy that were dramas and good ones, one called River's Edge and his FIRST film Letting Go
@Sony18241 My bad i didn't mean to sound mean or anything, and yes he is very underrated because of his typecast as an airhead from Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure.. :P
The music definitely reminds me of Metal Gear Solid. It carries that heavy "This is some badass stuff going on right now" timbre which MGS had with most of its soundtrack.
I'm not saying that Speed stole from MGS or vice versa. I'm just saying they both definitely carry a similar attitude.
Composer Mark Mancina wrote te score for Speed and few years later - fo Twister. If you listen carefully, you won't be able to tell (not knowing), from which film the score is. Some writers have their own style, like James Horner - you can always recognize those Celtic bagpipes he's using often. But Mark Mancina is one of my favorite composers, along with Trevor Rabin (score for Armageddon).
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
oh wow... Rip off of Metal Gear this is no longer one of my loved movies... I hate it when Hollywood can't come up with their own ideas and instead have to steal from the gaming industry
@TerraZet what the fuck are you talking about the film was out before metal gear solid so fuck off, i love both this film and MGS so stop being a total dick, anyway why would japan rip off a a film they probably havent seen.
My first thought when I got in on MGS was "... Speed?" Regardless, both scores are masterful, and it is in no way shameful to draw inspiration from something. Speed was one of my first action films and MGS is my favorite series, and I love the both of them.
OMG! The theme that starts at 1:25 looks similar (sounds exactly the same to me) as track #9 you'll find on the Shattered Steel soundtrack (a 1996 PC video game from Bioware). You may find it at gh.ffshrine.org/song/5853/8
Don't ask how figured this, I was cleaning my bookshelves and stumbled upon the CD and wanted to give it a try (it's a MS-DOS game, it failed to load on Win7) and while I skipped from tracks to tracks, I noticed the similarity.
@TH3USUALSUSPECT yeah, movie theaters around here use the snowstorm for in between the previews and movies (where it advertises the theatre and tells you to turn your phone off)
danok took it like an insult. like the guy who said it meant it like, "oh shit, this sounds like msg, that means speed copied msg!" instead of just that they sound similar
Otakon: Snake you can't slow down Metal Gear Rex of 50 mph, if you do you are gonna explode, liquid put a bomb in it... AND YOU have to stop liquid from launching that nuke!
