  • where was this at?

  • Really they should do a whole suite about Tetris, just showing those bricks falling for half a hour and the wonderful music in a wonderful extension

  • Almost getting a tear at 7:22 Outrun

  • Those games made me feel old. Me and a friend of mine had a conversation while playing Modern Warfare 3 about how we would like to see the younger kids play games like Contra. See if they beat that as easy as most of us could. Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A. It's been 20+ years since I used that code.

  • awsomeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i get to go see this in march :)

  • The organizers of the venue TELL the audience to feel free to laugh, shout, etc. "This should be fun, so go ahead and shout if you like something." So they were actually encouraged to be noisy.

Great fun. I highly suggest attending a video games live performance if you can--I'd go again any day.

  • 2:59 what game is it i forgot

  • No super Mario!? Shame...shame

  • thats the dumbest i have even seen. the music wasnt even representative of the games.

  • Haha! The pizzicato during Pong made me laugh! =D

  • OMG! I didn't realize that I am such a nerd. I welcomed these games like old friends.

  • This Is Great,

But I Think Orchestra Is Taking Over Game Music Too Much,

They've completed Killed Off the 8bit and Other Supersonic Sounds

I Make Game Music Search Soundcloud: AudioPlay Inc.

  • i`m playing the same thing but i have bounty hunter

  • I died when i heard the frogger theme, shit brings back memories

  • Shut up fags!

  • Message to the audience: SHUT THE F*** UP!!!!!!!!

  • Great!!!

  • Every single video game should be required to have an epic orchestra perform their soundtrack!!

  • @Navani456

    That

    would

    be

    SO

    AWEEEEESOME :D

  • I forgot 5:10. What is that game?

  • @HandA711 Ghosts'n Goblins.

  • What's the game that starts at 5:51!?!?!??!

  • @Ahluk1 Gauntlet.

  • You aren't suppose to cheer at a live concert, what the fuck is wrong with those people?

  • @nicha112 Actually, in this one you are. In fact the people hosting VGL encourage this behavior. I actually went so I know, rather than people complaining online.

  • Folks, I attended this event. It's a fun, crazy, interactive show. The orchestra doesn't expect everyone to be quiet. They even supply the music LIVE while an audience member plays Frogger -- complete with creating the sound effects on the fly! Cheering your favorites is part of the fun. Plus, there are lots of kids there.

If you want respectful silence, go to the Berlin Philharmonic. If you want to have a blast, go to Video Games Live.

  • not nice baby badly

  • It's called Video Games Live orchestra... Why are people so suprised to see the games?

  • hehe Im a student living by herself

  • 6:58 i cried

  • Great video!

  • como olvidar esos juegos los jugue en mi infancia jajaja

  • @NiHuWi And in what sense is this a formal orchestra? The creator is a fucking guitarrist for god's sake. I'm not, in any way, criticizing you, I just want to show that the art of videogames is much greater than those ancient conventions.

  • What's the game in 5:13?

  • @satsuriyokinawa Ghosts and Goblins!

  • It's a different sort of live symphony. The encourage you to cheer and be excited for your favorite games. In fact they get quite upset if you don't.

  • At Video Games Live you are encouraged to cheer for your favorite games/songs.

  • Wow.. love for Rastan. A horribly underappreciated gem with one of the best soundtracks of the era.

  • These are the most annnoying fucks to be in a crowd for such an event ever.

  • el 6:57 quien no jugo ese juego , es realmente todo un clasico,

  • de veras que ke le gusto la cancion en la parte 5:19

  • I kinda like to hear the crowd

  • Stop laughing u stilly people and let the performers play in silence. Then u can clap AFTER they are done performing. :P

  • I don't know if people remember this or not, but this was before having video game music played by an orchestra was really done AT ALL. This is even before Eminence was a twinkle in its creator's mind, if I'm not mistaken. They're laughing because they don't take it seriously.

  • People laughing...

People only cheering for the popular games to have come out...

Yep, this is an American audience...

  • Damn this Uotcorrect on

  • I was looking at this to decide if I want to go and it's nothing special. Maybe it when Terri Camus the lil music palled along

  • 2:40 is my favorite the only part of frogger i understand musically. i only played the playstation 1 version though

  • What can I say. Brings back memories.

  • To those who have never attended VGL, Tommy Tollarico ALWAYS encourages the crowd to cheer for the performers, as it's a special and awesome orchestra.

The people laughing and cheering are not much trouble but...those who shriek and scream will annoy the hell out of you.

  • Tetris....WHUAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA !!!!

  • hrm Be kind and nice with me and I will be with you

  • The orchestra probably has no idea what they're playing lol

  • Anyone have a list of the games played?

  • 5:58 music name ?

  • Frogger my favorite!!! not game but music lol

  • hold your fun to yourself

  • whats wrong with laughing its supposed to be fun..

  • @raiden717 In formal orchestras such as this, it's typically considered impolite to make noise while the orchestra is playing.

  • @raiden717 it's called nostalgia. Get into it.

  • @raiden717 you are too young kid

  • These gigs are ment to be fun you dont sit through a funny part in a game and stay silent you laugh thats the point enjoy the music but also enjoy the memories in the videos

  • @azamonde Exactly, I don't get why people are whining about the laughing! It's pure nostalgia, this video. Even my buddies at home were cheering like WHOAAAA I REMEMBER THAT GAME. Why wouldn't you, at the concert, where it has so much more impact than it does on Youtube. Grow a pair, guys.

  • I went to this show in 2006. It is a bit sad. This company just target some so called "hardcore player" (who needs to keep laughing to show they know the game) with this poor performance show. I've seen some youtube video way better than this show.

  • Why can they not enjoy the music without laughing and cheering? >.<

  • @JakXT

    Nostalgia. That's why.

  • @Nesaru I wasn't aware that required making loud noises....

  • @JakXT

Well they were encouraged to cheer and laugh.

  • @Nesaru I know, and I would be ok with it if they did so at the end, not during the performance....

As far as I know cheering and laughing etc isn't part of the music, you don't go to these things to hear people drowning out the amazing music by cheering and clapping over the top of it...

  • Could the people just shut up!?

  • @superluigi132 If you ever went, you would realize that they encourage the fans to holler and participate and such...

  • @superluigi132 I thought they were told at the start they could be as loud as they wanted O.o

  • @superluigi132 I thought they were told at the start they could be as loud as they wanted O.o

  • @vamini123 Nobody should make single noise through such an masterpiece!

  • Comment removed

  • @wikieditspam In the words of Superluigi132 ''Lacks logic and sense.''

  • @superluigi132

No, they can't. Tommy Tallerico encourages audience to treat VGL like a rock concert.

  • @superkeijikun Meh.

  • @superluigi132 There told at the beginning of the show to scream and yell when ever they want.

  • @itsameray Yup, that's what sixteen others told me as well. :p

  • @superluigi132

agreed, Cheering, laughing during a performance is quite rude towards the Orchestra

  • @Cameraman2 you must be like 10 years old that who hasnt played these games and therefor dont have any relations to them. People are cheering cus its games from their youth, and since its a consert with nostalgic games, i guess its expected that you are gonna be able to cheer... Or maybe you sit/stand quiet untill the band stops playing on a rock/pop/othermusic concerts too?:D Is not frikin mozart and like the London Philharmonic Orchestra!

  • @superluigi132 They are Otaku's THEY NEVER SHUT UP!!

  • @finalfantasy696969 A majority of these games weren't even Japanese...

  • @superluigi132 that's bullshit

  • Hey guys, watch Prince of Persia theme from SNES in Metal version (:

  • i had the chance to go to this but slept in lol

  • FUCKING SHUT UP YOU DICKS WHEN YOU GO SEE A CONCERT LIKE THIS YOU SHUT THE FUCK UP AND LET EVERYONE LISTEN TO THE MUSIC

  • @pescalante2

Uhm, you do notice this is a Video Games Live concert, right? They even tell the audience it's okay to to clap and cheer during the performance. Didn't you see the musicians wearing headphones? They're for listening to each other so the crowd can cheer as they wish.

And, typing in caps is so 1985, just stop.

  • 197 people don't appreciate art or music.

  • Classic Tetris. YES!

  • I get chills when the dragons lair part comes on

  • this should open e3 every year (even though i dont go to e3 -_-)

  • Weird choice of games. It only made sense for Ghosts & Goblins and Outrun, the rest was pretty much music over games that didn't have any memorable one or any at all.

  • This is great!

  • Their laughs make this video downloadable to me =.=

  • one of those horns is making me cry

  • 195 people enjoyed a wrong childhood

  • WHERES MY DIG DUG BITCH!

  • All these games take me back but Dragons Lair and Space Ace I hadnt even thought about in years!!! Amazing ride!

  • I'm a 90's kid but i played all of these games on Mame!!!!xD

  • Going today in LA nokia center, be jealous.

  • i'll take uncharted or halo over pong any day :p

  • @hoolio35 with all due respect to those classic games. they are the primordial soup that todays great interactive narratives evolved from.

  • @hoolio35 Some classic games still hold there own against the newer ones AKA Sonic and Mario I mean the classic ones me personally would rather play either of them over halo anyday

  • I wonder if in 30 years time we'll have orchestraded medleys of ps2 games...

  • @Grandy12 There have already been some live orchestrated medleys of ps2 games (Final Fantasy X for example at the "Play! Concert")... it was so beautiful ^_^

  • Ugh fuck Gauntlet, seriously. Great video.

  • OMG!! SPACE! ACE I REMEMGBER PLAYING THIS GAME IN ARCADE SO OFF THE CHAIN! IDAHO"S FAMOUS NICKEL PALACE SO EFFIN AWESOME!@ THIS BRINGS BACK SO MANY VIDEO GAME MEMRIES! THANK YOU FOR POSTING!! YOUR THE GREATEST!@!!

  • an article from an Okinawan news paper today.

  • AWESOME : DDDDDD

  • is it good that im 14 and ive played all of these and honestly the classics are better crappy games these days like cod

  • jajap que mierda

  • Fuckin peoples' laugh...

    it's a concert!!!

  • @zumgruenenbaum No it was not, people are always encouraged to cheer and show appreciation to games and themes in these events, is not "classical" music by that concept, and the orchestra too, is glad to hear cheers in this events :)

  • @TheRealAxelFury Thx, did'nt know about that, but I still find it unpolite to cheer and scream while an orchestra performs...

  • @zumgruenenbaum understandable, in fact this is a very unique type of context, that this feels strange or out of the proper etiquette, is understandable :)

  • @zumgruenenbaum LOL. You mean you don't know? Before the show starts, the emcees told the audience to cheer and clap if they saw what they like on the screen and not to treat the show like an uppity classical stage show.

  • Briliant and amazing ;)

  • Ill change my Call Of Duty Black ops for Ghost & Goblins any day! ;)

  • Once again. EPIC. Can't wait for them to come to London

  • muuuy bueno lastima aca en mexico poco lo anunciaon :(

  • @lawlzlolx They are just happy to see what they see ^^

  • @lawlzlolx Because ti's awesome and funny at the same time~ XD

  • @lawlzlolx They are remembering the happiness these games gave them as children.

  • @lawlzlolx It's one of those "Hey I know this one" kind of laugh

  • @lawlzlolx cause its memorys flooding back to them in 8 min

  • @lawlzlolx I think they're nostalgiaing.

  • @lawlzlolx That's the laughter of pleasant recognition. I played many of these games 20 years ago and seeing them in this context triggers wonderful memories.

  • 5:05 was the best part for me in this video.

  • This makes me glad that I looked into the past and played these games.

  • they went to mex!!! WHOOO HOO they NOTICED US!!

  • Its funny how people will complain about Pop or Rock or Rap or Metal, etc. But NO ONE will complain about game music.

  • ROBOTRON!!!!!!!!!! that was a sweet game =O

  • I would have loved to have been at this show.

  • So saw this last night. It was good, but I was pretty sad they played like no Mario, Zelda, or other main stream game music.

  • Ghouls n Goblins was the best part!

  • Ride of the vallkyries <3

  • 3:24 :D

  • @Tehdean u mad bro?

  • I personally feel that the modern classics of gaming being created today are incredible, but I HATE when people think only of graphics. Some of the classics of gaming (Super Mario 64, Ocarina of Time, Final Fantasy VII) have awful graphics by today's standard, and people still play them. Gameplay comes before graphics.

And complexity is not better than simplicity. Pacman, Tetris, and Super Mario Bros. are very simplistic games, yet I consider them some of the greatest games of all time.

  • screw all new games... old games pwned... noone ever complained about graphics or balance!

  • god damn the crowd, they were cheering at the stupid movie and barely listening to the music

  • @kingnor2 wow do i ever agree. I ranted to my friends after seeing this live that i wished they would have chosen music for music lovers, and selected pieces dependent on how GOOD the music was, not how popular the game was. in particular i complained about the fucking halo music (because it's not very good music) and they put it down to me not liking halo. i also didn't like the metroid music but i love metriod. that point was lost on them.

  • @GregoleX2 Well, if you H.A.T.E. VGL as much as you CLEARLY do, why watch this video? All you're doing is killing yourself and wasting your time. Why torture yourself if you've already seen other VGL performances and H A T E them? Plus, you DO know you don't get the full effect unless you're there, right? Example hearing TSO on the net is DEFINITELY =/= the same as actually GOING to see them. However, it's different if you went and didn't like 'em. If THAT'S the case, why search 'em up? /:(

  • @Man1cmanMario well, actually I loved the concert, after seeing it live twice, I just don't see it as _perfect_. And as I clearly said in my post, ("after seeing this live") I went to see it live. I, fact, I went not once but TWICE, so clearly i do not H. A. T. E. it. Or 'hate' it, whichever. I was just making a point; that I like the concert but wish the music was chosen based on quality rather than the popularity of the game.

  • ....to 90% of people this whole thing is just a nostalgia trip/fanboyism, and care more about the stupid videos and the lame costume contest than anything else. People who genuinely feel that there are some truly great pieces of music that video games have given us and want to worship these pieces for what they are are in a minority.

  • What was the game at 2:59

  • @captaintaco2345 elevator action! a real fun high-score type game!

  • The game at 6:58 is Sega's very own Outrun made by the legendary Yu Shenmue Suzuki !

  • The game at 1:27 is joust
