@cassandraluvezyou slow lorises don't breed well in captivity, even in the best circumstances. They frequently die in captivity, no matter how well treated. watch the recent documentary on them: BBC Natural World Jungle Gremlins of Java. Its here on YouTube.
@panda84 the biggest threat to these animals is humans. We are destroying their habitat, kill them for medical purposes and now for the pet trade. left alone in the wild to breed, they would be fine. they rarely breed in captivity so the ones we are taking cannot be replaced read the article in the Daily Mail web site search killer cuteness. This pet trade is not doing them any good, its just killing them off
whoever agrees with this pet trade is stupid and ignorant.
these animals will be hunted until there are none left in the wild. As they don't breed in captivity, once the "pet" loris's die out these animals will be extinct its as simple as that its just fact.
If you honestly believe these animals are not being harmed please watch the video on here, (youtube-search-slow loris abuse) you are not saving them you are wiping them out and exposing them to horrific abuse.
@panda84 I didnt mean to insinuate that you were uncaring I apologize :) i actually had a way better ending line but i guess youtube cut it out due to like too many characters or something.
@panda84 The only way to "adopt" a slow loris is to purchase one from a black market related operation, and breeding an animal for human recreation will do nothing but diminish the numbers in the wild. What happens if we do increase its popularity and the demand for these poor animals??? They'll be eradicated in their natural habitat thats what and any lucky to be returend to where they belong will immediatly be snatched up and resold.
how often are they adopted? I thought they were usually bought illegally, and it doesn't seem like their are a lot of chances to adopt an endangered animal. Shouldn't they go to a zoo where professionals can take care of them?
First of all, the Slow Loris is NOT a monkey. It is a primate, but it is a Strepsirhini primate, which makes it more closely related to Lemurs. It is not a monkey. :l
These animals are endangered and should not be sold as pets. They are not domestic animals: they have to get their teeth pulled due to their poisonous bite and their "enjoyment" when tickled is because that is their defense mechanism in threatening situations. These are extremely adorable animals, but we should not be anthropomorphizing them, and assume they enjoy their captivity. It is illegal to own one. If you want to help them, discourage other potential owners
First, if you seriously wanted one, you should not have been looking for answers on youtube comments. Second, they are endangered partly due to their capture and sale as pets, and yes they have a poisonous bite so their teeth are removed which many people find very cruel. Please do not provide the illegal business with your support and money. Lorises are not domesticated! They do not enjoy captivity! If you think they are awesome, then discourage other potential owners.
@purplelobsta not all of them have their teeth removed, ive seen several videos on here so far where it is VERY evident that they still have all their teeth!
I agree with you! People who kill them don't generally understand their habitat and needs. They kill them for medicine and other unproven methods. ^.^ Gave you a thumbs up too!

very cute animal , I am thinking about buying one , and would like to know :
does he bite ?
what do you do with his waste , do you use a diaper ?
are his teeth removed ?
they say slow loris's immunity is very weak , thats why he dies very fast , is that true ?
is it true his tounge carries toxin ?
what about the smell , does his urine smell bad ?
thank you in advance my friend

@MissGis01 well ive seen several videos where it is quite evident that they have their canines intact as well!

@ValiantArcher Then those lucky loris are the exception not the rule still doesnt diminish the argument that owning them as pets is wrong :)
