  • GODDAM!!!... If this is how it sounds from the factory, then i M-U-S-T have one...

  • Inside line seems to be biased against Hyundai......don't understand why?

  • horrible times inside line, you need to do better, even I got a better 0 to 60. look up the 1/4 mile on 0 to 60 times . com for the real specs.

  • nice exhaust note

  • Most of other review achieved 0-60 5.5 and 1/4 mile 13.5 sec.

  • @ron20102002 Most other? You mean like one?

  • ummm where are all the MF STATS?

  • Tc needs to be off

  • A useful addition to these tests would be a 5-60 roll on acceleration. Great road test otherwise, thanks!

  • 2012 Genesis Coupe debuts late December/January. New 333 hp from 3.8 with possibly 8 speed transmission in the automatic. Now, honestly, u think ANY of the V6 counterparts (Camaro Mustang Challenger) gone gon still give a matched fight?

  • @brianakalo The engine is not for certain for the coupe. Last I read, they are doing something special to the engine and it will be faster than that. Hyundai is going to unveil it at the NAIAS in Janurary 2012. We will see...

  • @Marshmallowrex you can modify any vehicle, that is not the point. The point is the performance right out of the package. The stuff that is 100% carb legal, crash safe, and has a warranty. I was just stating that for it's competitive range, the mustang seems to rule.

  • kinda disappointing. The 2.0T seems like the better buy of the two models. Also, I think this car is slower, heavier, and less of a handler (pricier?) than the new 3.7 V6 Mustang, with which it competes.

  • So where is the full test video and write up, with actual driving impressions ?

  • Need to fit more softer tires imo

  • @ejkddorai trust me no, these tires wear out fast enough. unless you want to go racig, i dont think its worth softer tires

  • new top tuner car.

  • Wow! This is a huge improvement over the 3.8 Track in the straightaway, knocking off .5 seconds. A bit disappointed in handling though, virtually the same. If you were going to lease or didn't want to put all the time in to moding this is a better choice, otherwise the 3.8 track is probably a better choice because you could easily get this kind of performance with aftermarket parts. They refurbished the interior for 2010+ model years and the material quality is much improved.

  • Not too bad, but as a 2009 Sonata owner, I know the car is cheap. The seats are horrible, the ride is brittle, the car is noisy in the snow. Never buy another Hyundai again - stick with the leaders, like Honda/Acura and Toyota/Lexus if you want quality.

  • @marcomariaz26 lol? cheap? My 2002 sonata feels better, performs better, and is cheaper then a honda o toyota. As for lexus and acura, they aren't even in the same price range. That's like saying don't bother buying a honda accord, cuz a bmw is much better.

  • @pdavid24 Hyundai sucks. Period. That's my experience. Take it for what its worth. Disagree is fine, but it doesn't change my opinion in the slightest.

  • @marcomariaz26 why does hyundai suck to you. they proven they are reliable they have proven they ccan make great cars and better ones that use a 4 cylinder with a turbo and get better gas milage then any other car with more horse power and cheaper. it is your opinion but im just curious

  • @marcomariaz26 i know it sucks, cuz its not a gm

  • Oh. And I've never seen a Hyundai chirp the tires between 1st and 2nd. Hyundai has become damn impressive lately.

  • That is an excellent V6 sound. Almost reminds me of a cross between a TL and a G35.... I dunno, just me. I love the new Genesises.... or however you spell that plurally.

  • Guys.. He said it's one of the best, not that it is. The VQ sounds nice but too bad those motors are pretty shitty, at least this one is in a Hyundai

  • @ShawnSubaru So 44 more hp, 10 lb-ft of torque, and a much higher redline with excellent reliability in a VQ37 is "shitty"?

  • @ambientflier nah I mean like, this is a hyundai, a lil korean car, nissan has been making v6's and inline 6's for decades. 350z's/370z's aren't that fast there are better cars to choose from

  • @ShawnSubaru What V6 car is faster than a 350/370Z?

  • @ambientflier The gtr.. That's it. I guess it's the fastest n/a v6 car, but that's like saying what's the fastest n/a 4 cylinder car? An si? That's still slow lol. The only fast n/a 6 cylinder cars are the nsx and m3, and a couple other cars i can't think of porsche 911 gt whatever. i'm just saying man.. feel me?

  • @ShawnSubaru ?? the only 4 cylinder M3 that ever was is no faster than a civic SI of this generation. The NSX is no faster than a 370Z.

  • @ambientflier exactly

  • I have to respect this car even though it's Hyundai, but for some reason today it especially looks dated to me :/ maybe it's just me

  • Sweet Grunt

  • put one on the top gear test track!

  • I wana see this redone on hot tarmac.

  • It's Korean.

  • i have no problem with hyundai but i thought the specs for this model would be a bit more impressive.

  • @z1003 I concur! I was expecting way better numbers.

  • @ChickenCritters I too prefer the v8 but I'm just saying the v6 stang is their base but beats the genisis coupes top end! For a v6 I agree the 370z/g37 is the way to go :)

  • lookes like a hedge hog smiling or something

  • The only Hyundai I would probably ever buy. maybe*

  • those are damn good numbers for that car

  • the only Hyundai worth buying these days

  • strange. motorweek just tested this car and they got 0-60 in 5.5 sec and 1/4 mile in 13.5 at 104.8 mph

  • @greeny611990 different conditions, different drivers...

  • this genesis has the pretty much EXACT same specs as the 05'-10' Ford Mustang GT

  • American market research firm J.D. Power and Associates showed March 17 Hyundai Motor has significantly reduced problems per 100 three-year-old vehicles to 132 and finished 10th overall ahead of luxury automakers such as BMW who had 164, Audi with 161 and Infiniti with 151. It was ranked third among non-premium firms after Toyota and Buick, according to the Vehicle Dependability Study.

  • the coming SUBARU FT-86 will kill this car in the sales.

  • @Ubergood Subaru has never killed any Hyundai car sales in the past 5 years...

  • I can't see nothing wrong with this Hyundai. Good looking, nice sound, looks like it has a nice chassis, performance is very good and I bet it's way less expensive than a 335i. But I don't think people (at least intelligent people) will think you are short of good taste when spotting you driving it

  • For value this easily beats BMW. Get past the stigma from Hyundai's past because these are excellent vehicles. If Honda and Toyota don't change their game they won't be at the top for long. KIA/Hyundai is on a roll.

  • Better than Infiniti G coupe

  • U kno a 98 caddy deville could do the quarter in 14.9 @ 96 mph...

  • the engin sounds great i generally dislike hyundai as a car company but this car is changing my viewpoint

  • that is a good looking car

  • Can you include and interior reviews please?

  • Sounds real good! But I think it could perform just a bit better... The new v6mustang is a far better bargain I think.

  • @ooharloo don't get me wrong, but i ever get a mustang it has to be a V8, G37 GC 370z on the other hand ill take any day over a v6 mustang

  • hmmm thank god this car isn't in australia :D

  • Hyundai is doing what Honda and Toyota should have been doing for the past few years, making a cheap, rear wheel drive sports car. No, the Si doesn't count. We need to get back to the 240.

  • I don't like these videos that don't have any kind of commentary with them.....

  • @gooniac33 Mazdaspeed6? What kind of douchebag are you?

  • @Cramos2174 LOL!

  • I'm not crazy about this car. But I hope it stays around for a long time. I think it has great potential to grow. I can't wait to see the next generation and beyond.

  • Damn good car....They have come a long way since the econobox Excel of the past. Not quite as good as my Mazdaspeed6 but close...

  • i see people complaining about the speed. I'm sorry when was 0-60 in 5.6 slow? And did no one notice the 68mph slalom and .91 lateral g?

  • burn notice

  • No steering wheel sound clip?

  • 5.9? Thought it would be closer to 5.0sec to 60.

  • @FrostedCold Def not 5.0 but I was thinking it should have been a little faster as well.

  • I want one!

  • Meh...this is how the standard model should perform

  • According to Car and Driver, this tied the STI while lapping VIR. Not bad for a first try at a RWD sporty car. Stop hating everyone.

  • whats the diff from the '10 model?

  • Buy a ford!

  • New Track ?

  • Comment removed

  • One of the best sounding v6s imo

  • @BMWBurnoutM3 i think 3 series sounds betta

  • @BMWBurnoutM3

Defintely not...this has nothing on a VQ

  • @BMWBurnoutM3 vq35 sounds better

  • @kyleisreallycool V37 VVEL baby!

  • @BMWBurnoutM3 VW VR6, period.

  • ok people stop comparing cars from ages ago with today's test times. More safety regulations=more safety features=heavier cars. this is just 1 reason why its hard to just compare track test times. Its like comparing Wilt Chamberlain with Jordan or Kobe. realllly hard to do.

  • looks hyundai cheap.. a car this price shouldn't look like a cr-z with a smiling face

  • Genesis Coupe > G37

  • @Kevinkim7 LOl, is that why the G37 beats it in every single measure?

  • I bet SaabKyle04 must like this video

  • Sti has had that speed for like 8 years now. About same price, 4 door, AWD with 305hp in a 2.0L

  • those tires looks and sounds kind of shity

  • sure sounds amazing tho. can't deny that. I doubt most of you drive anything like this.

  • not the fastest thing ever !

  • looks like my 350z is still in the game lol..

  • i can agree that BMW came out with a car about 15 years ago that was a litte better than this car but one thing that all car dealerships think to do is to give what the car needs and what the driver will use mainly, its not about all those gadgets, what use are they when you have so much and can't use it all of it.

Plus this car is cheaper than the E36 BMW M3.

  • I bet SaabKyle04 must like this video

  • It never fails, on every single Youtube video review (Or something similar), especially those about cars, the overwhelming majority of comments are those of people who are just bashing on the car. Hyundai may have made cars of sub-par quality in the past, but the quality of their cars has greatly improved in the past few years, and if you don't realize that, then you are full of ignorance.

  • @stwartfan123 It doesn't matter how they are built. People are hating on the car, because-- they truly hate the car. The fact that this car, has that symbol on the front--- makes it enough to hate for some people. Understand that, and get over it.

  • @LittleMikeStarCraft soo much ignorance...But I guess if that's the way people want to live, then to each their own right?

  • @stwartfan123 People who bag cars just because of its badge are obviously not car enthusiasts.

  • @intheshitter I'm glad you agree.

  • @intheshitter well sometimes the car in question is a honda civic

  • @intheshitter

Cant accept the fact that hyundai is a motherfucking garbage that belongs to the trash? BADGE MATTERS YOU FUCKING RETARD

  • @umadbrow It's true i wouldn't own a car like this for bragging rights, but as a daily driver, or something sporty to have while saving for something nicer, it would do just fine. If the badge is the only thing that matters to you, i'm sure you could put a ferrari logo on it, then you'd be all set.

  • @prosmo442

I DIDNT SAY logo, I SAID BRAND and theres a difference. You obviously dont know anything you retarded fuck

  • @umadbrow you're right, it's just the symbol that represents the brand... You got me. Say f*ck some more, makes you sound more intelligent.

  • @prosmo442

HAHAHAHAH ask anyone who knows even the tiniest of marketing and sales and theyll know that a logo is different from the brand. GOD you sound like a poor art student HAAHHAHAAH

  • @umadbrow GOD you sound like a troll.

  • @lz3390

GOD you sound like a poor faggot only capable of buying a hyundai garbage

  • @umadbrow you sound like you have more brains and money than the people who owns the company

  • @rtferraren

    good thing you know that.

  • I just realized something: Hyundai is the Rebecca Black of the car industry

  • corean car ..... WAJAJAJJAJAJAJJAJAA

    american - german cars gentleman!!

  • shit, hiunday= rubbish

    please burn hiunday!!! now!!!

  • 5.9? you suck.

the other 2010 coupe with the same engine and different driver got 5.4......

  • I would buy the v6 mustang before this...

  • horrible performance

  • over 300 HP, 5.9 seconds to 60 mph? an E36 BMW M3 from 15 years ago manages to do it in 5.5 seconds with only 240 HP...

  • @Turbulence654321 ya but 15 years ago cars were a lot lighter too =) but ya i see where you are coming from.

  • @Turbulence654321

Well 15-years ago a euro-spec M3 produces 321hp not 240 hp like the US version

  • @miksirikoitsen Exactly. Us version will be lucky to do it in under 7 seconds. Not even.

  • @miksirikoitsen NO you have been mistaken. A US Version with 240 HP manages 0-60mph in 5.5 seconds the Euro version manages a 0-60 in 5.2 seconds. Get your facts right buddy.

  • @miksirikoitsen That is also running on Euro (rocket) fuel and most likely fewer emissions. US fuel is lower in octane so here it would probably have the same numbers with similar emissions.

Example would be say a new GT.. roughly 412hp would be closer to 500hp on Euro fuel. It's what you put into it it's not just how it's designed.

  • @JAG03064

Its not about fuel, the Euro spec and US spec M3 has different engines.

  • @JAG03064 No car has a power boost like that from different octane. You might get 20 Hp at best.

  • @flatblackstrat Not just the fuel alone, it most likely has a higher compression ratio because of the octane levels. Instead of say 8.1 it would be 11 or 12.1 if not higher and valve timing would have a different curve also. Most import cars that come to the U.S have to meet stricter emissions (smog pumps egr valves catalytic converters) so all of those factors add up and rob an engine of it's true output. Try and run that car on U.S pump gas it will load up run like shit knock and stall out.

  • @JAG03064 Well most cars today are running 10.5:1 or higher 8-9.5:1 for force induction, and it doesn't change very often between countries anymore, especially with American cars. Also something like GT500 would not be changed at all to go overseas. Ford does not have the budget to alter a niche car like that for low volume sales.

Also most cars that are restricted are done through ECU mapping not engine modification. They are programmed to run richer which robs HP but lower NOX emissions.

  • @flatblackstrat The average car is designed at or around 9 to 1so it can run of cheap gas and or ethanol. I said nothing about taking a car from the U.S. to Europe. My statement was the fact that the Euro BMW would run like shit on U.S. pump gas. So you are saying is emissions plays no part in detuning a car? Ecu mapping is done well after you design and build an engine you can't do it if you have no engine in the first place. You can mock up on CAD but means shit in the real world till tested

  • @JAG03064 The average car is at 10:1+. That is the lowest you will find these days. 10.5:1 is normal and can run on 87 octane. You are thinking back to the 90s. Car for example like my 03 Tiburon ran on 87 on a 10:1 and could not run anything higher without sputtery cold starts. Even 14:1 comp ratios can be run on pump gas with direct injection, research Mazda Skyactiv. Also check where I live, I know what differentiate cars in the U.S. and overseas since I'm an American living in Japan.

  • @flatblackstrat I had an 03 GT and an 05 GT and both of them preferred at least 89 or they ran lousy and knocked. The 03 was modified extensively so it was a bit more finicky it had to run on 94.

The reason for the recent changes is due in part that most engines are designed with bio fuel in mind. You would need those kinds of numbers to be able to burn multiple fuel types because of different combustion points and it's not practical to build and engine for a specific fuel anymore.

  • @JAG03064 An 03 or 05 will never knock on 87, it's all you are supposed to use in it. Anything else is not needed. If you had after market work done on it such as higher comp pistons or FI that would explain it. I am curious what you had done to your car.

Also the biofuel part is not true. Those engines were built with higher resistance to alcohol corrosions on valves seals and other seals that would corrode, not higher comp ratios. Most cars can still not run e85 only e10.

  • @flatblackstrat Well they both did and I live not far from Boston if that has anything to do with it. Supposedly we have higher levels of ethanol which is why cars in New England are more prone to fuel scale build up. Had to have throttle bodies descaled around 60k.

No internals but extensive ignition wiring mods as well a big bore 70 mil throttle body cat-backs ECM suspension Eibach and Tien coil overs heavier clutch and throwout as well as removed shift valve +bigger brakes wheels.

  • @JAG03064 It might have, I think New Jersey has a similar issue but I think your ECU had a bad flash, Hyundai had an update if you took it in. I lived all over the US and had my Tib in Oklahoma, South Carolina, and Michigan during both summer and winter and never any problems. I also have never heard a problem like yours and I was a member of newtiburon since 04. You should have added an NGM supercharger, that would constitute heavy mods.

  • @flatblackstrat I know dozens of people who have had same problem different vehicles. My brothers 1500hd same problem.

Eventually was to go supercharger would have gone with a RIPP if any. Order crate block and start fresh. 03 met with an untimely death telephone pole 3/4 up in VT walked away picked pieces of airbag out of head. One of reasons I bought a second, that and can't drive other car GT in the winter here. 05 crushed by oak tree Jeep now.

  • @JAG03064 To bad RIPP dropped the Tiburon. I was excited about that setup too but they never got the ECU AF ratios dialed in correctly and they had a lot of problems and a few blown engines. The centrifugal supercharger is a cool idea but root is the way to go IMO, and better low end torque. The best would be a twin screw. Sorry your Tibbies met untimely deaths but the car was not Hyundai's best work. It was an OK car with a good following but a lot of douche bags owned them=high insurance.

  • @flatblackstrat They didn't drop the Tiburon they do one off customs and they modded three of them stage 1 2 and 3. I don't know where you got that info probably the same place you keep quoting your facts from which is most likely Wikedpedia.Seeing as not even the most track savvy person would have those facts off the top of their head so don't try coming off like some authority and I'm not the village idiot I caught your under the cuff comment. If anyone is a douchebag here it's you.

  • @JAG03064 Hahaha are you serious? I think I'm just making you question yourself a lot then you are heading to wiki or wherever you are going and checking that I am right. I am on auto forums everyday, it is a hobby of mine to follow the industry as I am from the motor city. Also I don't know how wikipedia would give me any of the info that I have stated so far, is that where you are looking? I wasn't calling you a douche bag BTW as I owned one too. I was stating that a lot of douches owned them.

  • @JAG03064 Also the RIPP kit is no longer available. Go check their site it's not made anymore. Rippmods always made belt driven turbo kits for niche performance application and the Hyundai didn't have any other FI system on the market at that time besides the Alpine kit, which is also no longer produced. The reason it is no longer produced is because it blew stock engines. Even the old link says it's out of stock, and the only way to buy one is to go to NT and see if anyone is selling. Go check

  • @flatblackstrat They don't produce the Tiburon anymore so what was the point. There is recent video of a RIPP Jeep so they are not out of business. The fine print also stated that stage 2 and 3 systems should not be installed unless there was to be internal modifications. There is one of the original RIPP Tibs on Ebay(silver auto) just a few months back apparently it's still works.

You know why I went off on you? That last statement came off as an insult if you were sitting where I was.

  • @JAG03064 A large portion if not most of the after market industry is for cars that are no longer produced, so what is your point? I was simply stating they don't make the RIPP setup for the Tib anymore which you said they did. Also I never said RIPPmods went out of business only that they stopped Tiburon kit production. BTW it was the stage one that blew everyones engine. So you're basing it's reliability off of a car you saw on ebay, I would trust NT over an ebay seller.

  • @JAG03064 BTW Hyundai's new Sonata has an 11.3:1 comp rat. and it's running 87 octane. The only cars that are running sub 10 comp rats. are forced induction. It has always been that way. 11.3:1 Sonata GLS 9.5:1 Sonata Turbo.

  • @Turbulence654321 weight. etc

  • @Turbulence654321 its still am M3 u cant compare it with this, this is one of the cheapest sports cars in the world

  • @Chilibe

you can get an E36 M3 for much cheaper than the Genesis. you can get a decent used E36 M3 for $10,000

  • @Turbulence654321 ye u got the point there but this is a new car and parts are cheap and it doesnt spend as much fuel as M3

  • @Turbulence654321 You forgot to put safety and emissions equipment weight into the roll, not to mention gear ratios.

  • @Turbulence654321 This isn't in the same class as an M3, more like a 335i.

  • @Maserati7200

    they didn't have a 335 back in 1996

  • @Turbulence654321 Then it's comparable to the 328i of the time. The M3 is specifically higher performance oriented.

  • @Maserati7200

but so is this, it's the "R-Spec"

  • @Turbulence654321 Fair point then, I'll concede on that point. However, this weighs more.

  • @Maserati7200 More weight kinda defeats the purpose of a real sports car though right? With that said, I really like the Genesis coupe; I think it's a great car! :)

  • @Turbulence654321 How much torque?

  • @Turbulence654321 yea right... its like an american car lots of muscle although it MAY not post the best times

  • meh...

  • Lol king of the V6 class seriously?! Not even close the numbers already show a huge disadvantage against it just watch and see.

  • When it was doing 0-60 and 1/4 mile, it was so uneventful...

  • If reports are true and the 333HP Genesis Coupe is coming that thing should be close to king of the V6 class

  • I've seen the 2011 Mustang V6 make 5.1 in MT

The best I've ever seen a 3.8 do was 5.5

These are good numbers, but it can't deal with Camaro SS or 5.0 'Stang

  • @toyotas2006 I would hope for the V8 SS and Mustang's sake that they are faster than the Genesis. Haha.

  • I want one I guess..

  • Exhaust sounds throatier.

  • Comment removed

  • I wonder what the 2.0t times are?

  • @gtbhui It's still really annoying whether I'm 13 or not (which I can prove I am not), and you should at least throw in a real comment with it....

  • @AudiABTr8

    proove it

  • @3108711289 I turned 14 yesterday. (hehe I feel stupidly special)

  • @AudiABTr8

    wtf?ok?
