@bendaman15 they probably scored a few 6 or 8 points in a row, so he dribble the ball up the court by himself to call timeout at halfcourt. Everyone expected him to call it, so he drove to the basket when they were unsuspecting.

@bendaman15 He ran to the vertical line that's adjacent/perpendicular to the baseline. It's designed spot to call a time out in the frontcourt. In this case there's a Trailblazers logo there. Notice the vertical line on the other side of the court, that's where he would have been able to call it on the left side.

@bendaman15 players usually make a beeline just past the halfcourt line to call timeout so that when the team gets possession afterwards, play will resume on the opponent's end of the court. this is true if its not the last 2 mins of the game in w/c case, they don't have to advance the ball as calling a timeout automatically does so.

@TheLilyReynolds182 When you do a timeout. You just don't say it to the REF, you needed to do the TIMEOUT GESTURE otherwise the refs wont consider it an official timeout. He was just saying TIMEOUT! TIMEOUT! no gesture so the refs arent whistling. And that is how you fake a timeout.

@melzarrr he didnt actually motion for the timeout. under the situation he was expected to call a timeout but decided not to. kind of like in football a team is "expected" to ICE a kicker in certain situations by calling a timeout. its not necessary, just that everyone kind of expects it. only this time Grant Hill took advantage and got the easy points.

@melzarrr uh he didnt call a time out he ran over to the sideline like he was going to call a time out and get into a huddle with the teamates, but instead noticed they were anticipating a time out and gave up on defense and he darted to the hoop. hes done this several times. he doesnt get enough credit.
