  • thx u I just started crocheting & wanted a cloche, I will be making this.

  • How did you learn to crochet?

  • @hai463 my step grandmother taught me as a kid

  • This hat is really, really cute.

  • :-( Unfortunately I restarted several times and ended up with a small hat lol...I think I'm gonna give up...

  • @sweetmahalda you probably need to make the top larger before you go to single stitches.

  • Thanks for sharing but how did u put he shell on it? And where can we purchase the shell? Is it possible to purchase it online?

  • @sweetmahalda i glued the shell to a broach. i think the shell is from a beach souvenir shop in Florida, where I used to live. you might be able to find something similar online

  • so when you do the chain 3 do you add a stitch in each chain on the way back thus increasing the number of stitches

  • Fantastic and simple hat, thanks! Did you use just a 4ply worsted weight acrylic for your hats? Just wondered because the stitches look bigger than the original beanie pattern you gave us to start with. Thanks again! :)

  • @musictoliveby08 thanks! Not sure what Ply I used for the hat. I just picked a yarn that I liked and went with it. Sorry I couldn't be of more help

  • I NEED A COUPLE OF HATS :) HOW CAN I GET THEM?

  • What size needle r u using?

  • @L3t1t8e ummmm H/8-5.00MM ? i'm not really sure....i just checked the needle, but i don't know what info you need.

  • Great Video!!! & That Cloche is "Off The Chain!".. Love It!!!

  • wow your fingers are in hyper drive fastes crotchet i have ever witnessed=)

  • @TEEWEE01 i'm fast, but i sped up the footage :)

  • You should do more vids on crocheting! I dig your style!!

  • Could you do some mini tutorials on the different stitches involved with crocheting? I just got into it but the single stitch is kicking my ass, and I'm more of a visual person so reading from a book isn't cutting it :[

  • Just finished my first ever hat! Thank you so much for your fantastic tutorial; I love the fact that you don't rigidly stick to a pattern - it's so much more fun that way!

  • you r ADORABLE..love your hats & love the free spirited way u creat Chels..u remind me of my own daughter..keep that creative flow going!

  • OMG... your'e fast!!!!

  • I love this CHes!

  • so you basically Half Double Crocheted (HDC for short) when you started building the cloche part.

  • Sorry just now getting back to you the cloche was great will send pic soon!

  • do you have a pattern for a bun cover?

  • i don't really use patterns. try google :)

  • i wish i could crochet. my mom can, maybe she can make me one :-)

  • at what row of the beginning of the cloche part do you do the chain 3?

  • you chain 3 wherever you want the lip to start. I started mine in the center of the hat, and then crocheted to the other side of the hat before turning around. hope that makes sense...

  • Just like epic2515, I sent you a mesage and forget what I said, it just took me some time to figure it out.

  • I love it ! awsome cloche I am going to try it this evening will let you know how it turns out!!

  • awesome! how was it?

  • Hey gorgeous!

  • I have never followed a pattern when crocheting... well actually the only thing I ever made was a basic square afgan.., lol I would love to create something that looks that beautiful

  • ah! You sound like Bessie Smith in the background... just fabulous.... thanks for the reply...keep on crochetin'...I'll check out your music......Pat at the Jersey Shore...(I'm 59...but still crochetin' and swingin!)

  • fabulous video! Love the music and your circled head in the beginning! lovely....

  • thanks! that's me singing in the background!

  • Hello miss i'm french but I've done my own beanie due to your turorial sooo thanks you you're great!!

  • Your beanie is so cute. Do you take order for them? It will save me a lot of time.

  • GOOD JOB

  • HIYA! First off luv ur style. Im digging the hat. Ive been crocheting now for about a month and i was wondering...did u start your brim/lip from the mid-front going to the back? Just trying to make sure I understood correctly...thanks :-)

  • i don't think it matters where you start it, but i start mine at the center back, and turned around at the mid front. but i really think either way is fine. glad you enjoyed it!

  • i'm gona make dat 4 ma friend.. gd b'dai gift i think

  • WOW! ur such a well rounded person, u r very talented!!!

  • Omg! Thx for this!

  • nice job. :) I'm trying to get my wife do the same thing... thanks girl.

  • Maybe I'm 'tarded but um..my hat is big and floppy and ISNT cute....did i do something wrong? Isnt it suppose to be somewhat tight.

  • At what point (which row do you start making the lip/bill)? R7?

  • SUPER CUTE! Maybe the next phase of my hat crocheting pursuits. Thanks.

  • My mom always wanted me to learn how to crochet but it looks to hard.

  • Thank you so much for the tutorial. I'll have to try making a cloche after finals are over. I can't wait!

  • I'm goingto ask my mother to do this for me lol or show me how...she is way better at it then I am.

  • my hat is extra-cute!!! thanks chescaleigh =]

  • hey girlie. Haven't started my hat yet but I just want to be a nag and ask a quick question....where did you get this design? Reason why I'm asking is because I never crocheted before and I'm supposed to be going to this class and they want me to bring a print out of the design I want...sorry to be a nag, but I'm just so determine to have this hat for my B-Day. Thanks in advance;)

  • you mean the hat style? well, a cloche is a type of hat made popular in the 1920's. if you do a google search you can find a ton of examples. i kinda came up with this version after seeing something similar in an old costuming book. i'll see if i can find you some examples and send them to you. hope that helps!

  • Chescaleigh I did it! I made my first cloche hat! YAY! Thank you so much! I am posting pics of my hat as a vid response so if you get a chance check it out. Thanks again soo much!

  • I've never crochet before but my birthday is coming up soon and although I love my baby locs I want to wear a hat (something like the one you have cuz its soooo hot!)...so...a little nervous but if you did it in two hours I guess I can learn and complete it in three weeks...I'll update you in how it goes...so excited...thanks girlie!!!

  • Im inspired by you I have to say because now I have found some helpful videos that express what Im trying to accomplish. Thanks for being your self and being real. I just subscribed because I like your style. And I like to crochet. So Im going to get back into it and next wk when I go shopping Im going back walmart to pick up some materials. My hair is short now and that its getting winter, I need warmth.

  • crochet and knitting are two different beasts. give crochet a try, it's not as hard as it looks.

  • so ur not knitting, but crocheting?

because i want to be able to make beanies, tams, cloches, and scarves.

  • yessss that's why it's a crochet tutorial :) u can make all of those in either style

  • I was trying to make a hat last night, i don't know how to start it off.

  • check out the link in the description box. you generally chain 3 and then slip stitch the chains together to make a round loop and go from there

  • haaaa! i seriously read that and almost went crazy. no matter how often i tell people to check the vid description box, i always get a ton of people who don't. thanks for being so sweet and appreciative. i really enjoy making videos, so i'm always happy to hear that people enjoy them. you guys are my audience, so making you guys happy is my "job"! best of luck w your hat, can't wait to see it!

  • Love it!

  • youtubers who use the word nigger and say ignorant things like "nappy headed hoe" really think they're affecting me.

  • I am making one... I used to do beanies but never a cloche!!! Very cute.

  • Chescaleigh I'm so happy right now...WooHoo Crochet tutorial. I wasnt able to get to a computer while in Miami but i had so much fun.

it was so nice and hot i got a tan..i was in heaven.

  • yaaaay! i'm glad you're happy. i've felt horrible for not getting around to this video sooner. i've had soo many requests. so i'm glad it finally came together. no worries on your miami trip, give me a heads up next time and we'll make it happen. glad you had fun!

  • Your hat is so fly. It makes me want to try and make one. I have tried to crochet in the past and its been pretty bad but I'll pick it up again and try not to rush, hopefully that'll work. By the way, what type of yarn do you use? I am just wondering because I have locs(baby locs) and I don't really want to get lint

  • i'm a completely cheapo and usually just buy the biggest and cheapest yarn i can find! i think this is...vana white brand? ha!

  • your so multi talented its insane

  • Interesting. Don't have the patience for it, but interesting. Funny how my braiding video was denied because you thought it would be boring, but here's this vid. :(

    Oh well, lol

  • if you don't know how to crochet or aren't interested in crochet, sure, this might be boring to you. but my happy birthday hair video has had just over 40,000 hits and with that DAILY requests for a cloche tutorial. DAILY. i'm sorry, i didn't think a tutorial on how to braid was going to be informative because it's something MOST people know how to do. i also sent you a link on how to braid. give me a break.

  • I never said boring. I said I don't have the patience to sit down and learn that. It's like a form of art to me. But I wouldn't sit down and do it myself any time soon. It's like a gallery. You walk pass and say "Oh, this is nice" and move on. LOL

  • I can honestly say I have seen some things I have NEVER seen before.

    THnx

    -TKO

  • do you crochet? when i started my locks i had a hat for every occasion. and since i'm not a big fan of patterns i just played around with basic patterns and then added stuff to kinda make it my own. glad you liked it!

  • No, I knitted when I lived in Japan when I had a 2.5 hour train ride each way... I made a lot of unfinished scarves... Since I was self taught I didnt know how to finish off. And the ppl who explained how to start didnt speak English. They were old ladies on the train who I never saw again.

  • i can't get into knitting to save my life! i made a scarf once and it was way too difficult for me to really enjoy. my step-grandmother taught me how to crochet when i was really young and we would just crochet for hours and watch movies and stuff together. it's so effortless for me. you should look online, there are a million resources out there. you of all people should know that my little love bird!

  • i get hypnotized by people with your dexterity

  • This video is super cool! I wish I could do that since I love hats so much. Your hair is getting so long. I'm loving the look!

  • check out the beginning crochet stitches link. i promise it's not as hard as it looks.

  • this is great do u have any other hats

  • yes! i'm working on 2 more videos. sit tight!
