How clear, how beautiful, how meaningful, without semi-naked girls, fast cars, or milky waterfalls, and still more attractive than the adulterated clips.
I'm aware of various styles of music which are almost extinct, because of the dominance of television and youth. Our older generation of musicians either died, killed or immigrated and were too sidelined by afghan pop music. Therefore it is more than 99% pop and the rest all other. You are right that we can't compare apples and oranges, but if you only have one apple and 99 oranges you have no choice.
Why do you associate ghazals, classical music, and folk music with older people. I am young and I love that kind of music, at the same time I enjoy pop music. Our classical music is simply not developed and every one calls themselves an Ustad, and our pop music is not even close to international standards. After all an apple is an apple and orange is an orange and they have different tastes. But i will say this, you can not be a successful pop artist if you don't have a strong classical base.
The reason I make such association is that it takes a lot of training and dedication to become a ghazal or classical artist, almost a lifetime, so naturally by the time you master it, you are in your middle ages, that is if you start very young. In the case of Afghan popular music, it is just watching music in most cases, not listening. Many of these watching pieces are not worth listening to for poor lyrics to monotonous composition. By enjoying classical music you cannot be called an artist
yes, it takes a long time to master classical music, but I was talking about the listeners, they can be young people as well. I personally can enjoy "good" classical music, anywhere, any time.
You have done a great job. Thanks for collecting a precious treasure of our common culture- a culture belonging to everybody in the country. Please avoid any political controversial issues in your work. Whatever that raises conflict and difference, avoid it please. Do not politicize it! Our history is not what it looks or what it looked int the past. But our common culture is a reality. keep culture and leave politics.

@arisgreat
I think the ghazal is by Rahee Moairee, 20th Century Iranian poet whose works have always been favourites with Afghan singers.

BTW, this particular ghazal has also been sung by Ehsan Aman on his Blue Moods, album, but to a different tune.

Short translation of ghazal:
My house has been brightened from the arrival of friends
The house is like a lamp, the guest like a candle and me like a moth
The morning breeze is taking me with it
Like a scent of a flower where is it taking me?
When the night casts a cover over the sun
Every part of you will rise and accomplish the same as the sun
The flight of the heart will take me towards God.
Thunder004 3 years ago
Wonderful
Can you post the lyric as well...Thanks.

@Thunder004
the second verse means something like :
With the wings of desire a mere dust particle reaches the Sun
(Thus does) the flight of the heart takes me towards God.
