My Annie used to bite little holes in the squeaky toys just to take out the squeaky thing. Then she'd play with the toy. She hated the squeaky things. I still miss her horribly, and it's been 11 years. Oy.

my uncle has a jack russel that is smaller than most jack russels but shes very strong and one day he bought her a bulldog toy with a sound box in it that made it bark. within the same day, she had ripped apart the bulldog and destroyed the soundbox.

@odcoolshark75 That is exactly what my Toy fox terrier does. His record is 5 minutes in the door, he's chewing on the squeaker that he has removed. He also likes to skin tennis balls of all of the green covering. Stuffed animals only last a few minutes and he has made a hole and is pulling out stuffing.

my moms JRT, which used to be mine, goes for the face first. she will rip the eyes out, then the nose, then the ears and then rip out the plastic squeaker..and my little JRT has an obsession with throwing balls and really small bite size toys

I have a jack russel to and he actually pulls out the plastic thing that makes the squeak noise. we cant leave any stuffed animals around him but its not bad though they were originally trained to hunt rodents and small animals by farmers in england to protect their crops so its just instictive for them

lol pretty cool dog, I dunno if this is true or not but i heard it from a trainer I went too, she said to not give ur dog chew toys that squeak cuz dogs become very agreesive, the squeak simulates a cry like its killing something, and over time dogs delvelop a serious interest in it... dunno if thats true or not but after hearin that im scared to give my jack a chew toy, I dont want a little 1.5 feet tall little monster

I don't think it's a big deal. my JRT tears apart chew toys like that too. she chews them up until they don't squeak anymore. but she wouldn't hurt a fly. she is the sweetest dog i have ever had. JRTs were bred to hunt rats, it's just what they do

We give our JRT squeak toys all the time, ones that look like squirrels and small animals. My dog just plays with them, but doesn't chase after the ones in real life. Sure she barks at them. She plays with the neighbors cats all the time and other large and small dogs.

Not just rat killers... they'll kill anything they can.

I live on the banks of a small river,and the folks we bought this house from used to feed to local stray cats. In the first two weeks we lived here, my two JRTs killed at least a dozen stray cats. Since then they've knocked off lots of muskrats, geese, ducks, squirrels, rabbits, and even a swan or two.

They're happy little killers.
