With 500 guests, I would use two L1 "sticks", four B1 bass bins, perhaps a powered Mackie 1500 sub, but most importantly, I would ask to placed on a portable stage or riser to get me and the L1s elevated 12" to 24" off floor level. As a matter of true fact, that was the system and the setup I used for an 825 person dance party.
hey, what songs did you use. very pretty.. and i love my l1 compact. actualy im only sending the L1 over 130 hz on a high pass filter, and sending everything else to my sub. this works very well because it requires less power to drive the 8 inch woofer, therefore it can be made louder without distortion.
i would definitely like to talk with you on the phone personally about this product... i have a lot of questions and i would like to know if a personal home visit demonstration is a possibility. so i can try with guitar and singing. i want to know what would be best for 2 vocalists and one guitar.
Thanks for your comments everyone. When you're ready to make your L1 (Model 1, 2, and/or Compact) system purchase, please give me an email or call. As an authorized Bose L1 dealer, systems are shipped the same day after your PayPal payment is made, F-R-E-E delivery, and no sales tax charged outside of New York State.
That was a really neat thing revealing at the end that the 2 L1's weren't turned on. I bet you had a ZT Lunchbox hidden under that table somewhere. LOL..
Thanks for the demo. I want an L1 in the worst way, but have a bunch of PA stuff to sell first.
For enyone else reading these L1 posts, please keep in mind I am an authorized L! product dealer and ship free anywhere in the continental USA and no sales tax charged except in New York state.
2) Stereo. Since stereo imagery requires a left and a right speaker, two L1s separated from 6 to 10 feet provide a stereo image (for tracks recorded in stereo) to a depth of nearly 30 - 40 feet, or, almost twice that of traditional spherical speakers;
3) Dispersion. With two L1s running at the same time (stereo or mono), the audio coverage area is broadened commensurately, and there is a coupling gain in the neighborhood of 3db;
4) Preset Manipulation. The three presets that deal with mobile DJ work are 00, 57, and 58.
That's it. All other presets are for musicians except if a mobile DJ's mics are connected directly into the power stand rather than a mixer. Then a preset for that specific make and model of directly connected mic may be selected.
So during a typical performance, both L1s start out at 00, then just one can be changed to 57 thus bringing the dance floor highs and lows up 50% compared to if both were at 57. Same with 58. There is no need to have both L1s at the same preset. Mix and match capabilities are really neat to play with in the various acoustical boundaries each facility presents us.
I also highly recommend two B1s per L1. The difference of 125w versus 250w of bass power is dramatic. Most folks whose opinion is the L1 system lacks bass power have not experienced a dual L1 quad B1 recommended system properly set up and properly gained staged. It's like buying a Mercedes with no rear wheels and then complaining about the ride.

I'm Inpressed, Thewife and the boss has informed me that we can have a pair for Chrismas have you had any problems with your system since posting this vid. Also how do you wire them from youe mixer
When your L1 systems are purchased from me, I walk each customer through the system, step by step, button by button, and then get the system settings perfectly matched to the system and equipment the customer is using.
This personal service and on-going technical help is available to my customers only and is not availed to anyone otherwise.
Until anyone has actually listened and personally tested an L1 in an actual performance scenario, I will not get into nor allow a pissing contest here. This is what it can and does do, not what some "think" it may or may not do.
If there's any desire to bash Bose on my pages, you'll be cut off faster than a pissed off, 8 month pregnant, hates your butt, wife. Capice?
None. The mixing board is set at flat across the board and there is no eq for the line iput side of the Compact...only the mic input on the Compact has an eq.
BTW, I've read many many of yours and many other folks posts on the Bose forums, trying to connect MB4's, your old 802 set up, etc. Yeah I've been eyeballing the L1 every since the L1m2 released. Thank you for the vid, finally I see a video of what one L1 can do(I'm a solo act) in such a large arena. Please make more videos!!! This was a bit of a selling point for me.
GOOD LORD!!!! At first I thought that was the house system playing because just about all L1 vids on YT are just musician vids. I seriously thought you had L1m2's connected! Then you mentioned they were model 1s which was an initial shock then you go and say THEY'RE NOT EVEN ON!!!! One Bose compact......That is bizarre. So much coverage. I had my doubts about the compact which i still do(skeptical about 8" driver) vs an L1m2+2B1s.
Yes. The bass is in the bass. 8" driver. The top of the "stick" is a six speaker articulated line array. No matter how hard folks try to compare their conical/spherical speakers to a line array, it simply cannot be done. It's like trying to compare a ship to a plane.

Nice demo. How many watts does it push? And can I run a keyboard/rhodes patch and vocal without distorting? I play jazz with a drummer.

You once told me that two L1s were required for ultimate satisfaction. Is this no longer true?
Dick3542 2 years ago
Where did you read that I said two L1 were required? I highly recommend two L1s for many reasons but it's not a requirement.
Here's a few reasons.
1) Backup. Where one might suffice, when using two the back up system is already in place and working;

You told me one L1 would leave you with a feeling of having a car without the rear wheels. I will respond to each subsequent statement.

Is there any stereo/mono crosstalk/distortion/cancellation between the two units with such wide dispersion?

In short, two L1s are not required. Many mobile DJs have found1 L1 works fabulously for them. I recommend two for a few of my reasons stated above.

Here it seems again you are saying with only one system you are in for a bumpy ride yet above you have said one unit is sufficient.
Do you recommend that a person buy two model 2s instead of just one or is one sufficient?
Dick3542 2 years ago
@Dick3542 : Try one. If it isn't enough for your personal preferences, buy the second.
