  • this video is a magnificent tribute for the australian people and their brave men and women in uniform ,,,,,,extremely well shot with great pictures and the legendary "Seekers" singing "Waltzing Matilda" ,,,,errol would have loved it!

  • Much gratitude to our faithful allies, the Aussies! God bless you all!!

  • Thank You for your countries efforts in the war in Iraq from a proud American!

  • I'm a proud Aussie, and no matter how many times I hear this, or see this clip, it makes me really proud of what our troops are doing, when ever and where ever called upon. Stay safe you truly great Aussies...

  • I had a short overlap with the Aussies in Baghdad June 2009, you served honorably now Iraq is a better place!

  • God bless the Diggers, I'd serve with you guys any day. Over the years, every American Vet I ever knew that served with you guys always had good words for you. I heard a quote once "I'll take a hungover Aussie with the clap and an empty rifle over just about anyone, any day", I concur.

    Gunnery Sergeant, USMC (Retired)

  • beautiful and motivating song. I've always thought very highly of the Australian people-friendly,rugged more than willing to sacrafice and give thier all.. A very colorful yet rugged land . From my time even before visiting Austalia while in the US NAVY fell in love with your country.

  • Can't help but get a lump in my throat ever time I hear this song... and I'm a Yank, if you can believe that. I love Australia and her people.

  • Men of Honor...

  • Stay safe diggers <3

  • If you ever have the desire to get your ass kicked, mess with the Aussies. I am a US Army veteran but I would very proudly have served as an Aussie. Kick Ass!

  • "We sleep safe in our beds because rough men are ready to do violence against those who would harm us!" Well they have some bloody good women with them now, too! To the Aussie's, God Bless you one and all! To all who serve, not forgotten and Thanks from we who pray for your safe return.

  • thevster1603 What you said! I'm half British on my Mum's side, and Scots-Irish and Welsh Yank on my Dad's side. As well as an Air Force Brat, and dam proud of all of the men and women of every nationality who stand up for freedom and helping the oppressed. God Bless them all. ILest we forget.

  • My pal Dirt:: RIP Never ever forgotten. On my death bed we will speak again. Until then my loyal friend.

  • i have to agree to all the comments on this page but would add there are 11 dislikesnow they may not be anti war but if they are I'm sorry they didnt enjoy the picture of the young lads and lasses of all thos great nationsout there dying for their right to freedom of speach also good to see the Black Watch out there, if you cant support the war at least support the troops

  • Good on ya thevster 1603, your right mate. Us Yanks love our little brothers down under but you know we will allways love our Mum. Even though you gave us a hard time for leaving home(what mother wouldnt) there's never been any hard feelings. Heck your the reason the white House is white! Despite that terrible movie Mel Gibson made (The Patriot) were family and most of that movie was lies. In our paper the Detroit News they even said it was fiction. Never a church burned down with people.

  • Thank you Mr. Tibbs. Seekers are the best. Very very good.

  • This mom of an American Sapper who served multiple times in Iraq and Afghanistan thanks all of the Austalians who served. You've always been there with us, in WWI, WW2 Korea, Vietnam and now...our nations

s true and best friends..Bless you all!

  • All Americans love Australians because we think of the Aussies as our best mates! LONG LIVE oZ!

  • NO BILLABONGS in IRAQ BLUE!..THE YANKS and the SKIPS HAVE BLOWN UP THE FUCKING LOT OF 'EM.

  • If i could have picked where i was to be born, it would have been Australia. God Bless all you Aussies! PS" Advance, Australia Fair" is an OK song, but your national anthem really should be "I am Australian" by The Seekers.

  • Its amazes the hell out of the British that some Australians want total independance from Great Britain and to be free of the Monarchy. Not because British people feel that Australia should be part of its sovereingty, but because most British people think Austrilia already has full independance! Half the British nation doesn't even know that our Queen is also the Queen of australia! Thats quite a baffling fact to me!

  • @Phoenix1664 Sorry mate any one of my age know just how much they contributed to our history and the only folk wanting independince are the new age immigrants. Why would that be!!!

  • @whingenjock Yeah thats cool, but it was the British scumbags moving over there in the first place that gave the aborigiones such a hard time, the British have alot of history to answer for i guess...

  • Thank you Aussie's, For Helping Us Yanks Out To Defeat Terrosim !!!!!

  • its sad to see that the australian military has lost so many men an women in war, but its sadder seeing the goverment we should trust destroying all that the men an women have died for!

    may they rest in peace.

  • Aussies are heroes~

They defended world freedom without a personal stake. May Australia be forever blessed.

  • From a US Marine Artillery man thank you Aussies. You are great and we carry on that ballad.

  • @KilliaIhateyou33 They were great before the Australian populace decided to allow the government to turn the whole continent into a Nanny State.

  • Why is this not our anthem?

  • God Bless the Aussies. Best friends anyone could have with Courage and Spirit!

  • Why are Aussies in Iraq? Austarlians after all their brave actions in both world wars are reduced to an army of occupation puppets of American imperialism, very sad for such a brave country.

  • @cultofmao IM PRETTY SURE THAT WE HAVE A MILITARY ALLIANCE WITH AMERICA IN WHICH WE WILL AID THEM IN THEIR MILITARY INVOLVEMENTS AND IN RETURN ARE GIVEN AID FROM AMERICA IF OUR COUNTRY IS INVOLVED IN OUR OWN MESS. correct me if im wrong but i think that is it.

  • Met many Aussies while in the US Army. Great guys! As a small child we would sing this song in school. It was one of our favorites. Now that I am getting old and I now understand the song, I love it even more.

  • @rcjohnsob im thinking of joing the australian army, but i havnt left school yet and i dont want to sign away 4 years of my life if i dont like it. wat was your expierence like in the army? and would you recommend it.

  • @yoongies Do it. Military service benefits people in so many ways. You'll be a much better man for it.

  • God bless all of the soldiers that are over there fighing it touches ones heart so lets all of us unite together and keep up the morale for our boys

  • God bless Australia...

  • Saddam Hussain was a child gassing bastard and u guys helped get him, WELL DONE LAD,S,

  • This Video allows me the opportunity to thank ALL soldiers from every participating nation for fighting, and in some cases paying the ultimate sacrifice to keep our countries free from tyranny. Now if our politicians had the balls of our fighting forces and stop the immigration of those bent on becoming the dominant race we could prevail. At the going down of the sun and in the morning we will remember them.

God Bless and Protect Our Fighting Forces for it is they we are indebted to.

  • Salute ! Could Australia have had better ? I doubt it. Chin up and GOD Bless each and everyone of you.

    MGYSGT Ernst Becker USMC/USMCR

  • As much as I hate this war, Thank you Australia for your support. Cheers from a brother from The U.S.

  • australia will alway,s be there! how true! thank you!

  • Who could dislike this video? Between the amazing song and the warm message, I find it very hard to believe that there are even 11 people who would dislike this. I'm not Australian, but lovely song, and bless the troops.

  • Proud to be Australian, proud of our service personnel & thankful for their protection. They are always close to our hearts & have the Australian majority behind them.(or else the Aust. Govt. wouldn't have sent them there).

They are carrying on the proud ANZAC tradition of all wars Australia has participated in (including 2 x World Wars) with our respect & concern.

  • We Yanks thank the Aussies and Brits...maybe the war is unpopular, or even wrong, but our cousins in Australia and Britain are dear friends. Thank you Australia. Glorious song, glorious people.

  • Wow! I've never heard a more majestic version of this song. I can see now why they call it the "unofficial" national anthem of Australia. I'm not even Australian and I had to wipe a tear away at the end.

  • "Aussies in Iraq" yet at 3:32 it was a British c-17.

  • @16MattC It's often true that when the Australian Armed Forces are on a complex mission they cooperate with the Brits who, obviously, have many more military resources (being a much larger country and part of NATO).

  • @listerone Of course both are HM The Queens Forces God Save Her

  • @listerone Thanks, you made my day, we just 'cooperate' well

with the Brits, and your land is so much bigger than ours.

  • @verticalsmurf When I said bigger I was thinking in terms of population, not land area. :-) And in case you think I'm a Brit,I'm not.I'm a Yank who happens to have enormous respect both for the Brits and you Aussies.I also think that Waltzing Matilda is the coolest and most moving national anthem (yes,i know it's not your *official* anthem) in the world!! Did you,by chance, know that the 1st Division of US Marine Corps adopted "Matilda" as its marching song during or just after WWII?

  • @listerone - I didn't know that! Cheers!

  • @listerone Didn't see your comment sorry.

  • @listerone Don't know if you know how big england is but it's about the same size of my back yard.

  • @MsSloppyseconds You must spend a fortune on lawn mowers.Or do you just use a few hundred of those huge wheat harvesters that farmers use? ;-)

  • @16MattC The video ends at 3:31 don't see how you could see it when the video ended before 3:32.

  • jihad=intolerance... christ=love. god save australia

  • Courage lasts foreever. US, English and AUSSIES always fight with unending COURAGE!!!

  • @sherrb1158 Exactly

  • This is the Beauty of the Aussies!!!!!!!! They stayed with us US Navy and we will always Honor them for this. Their jumbuck is what we needed!!!

    The SeALs pay attendion. 248.

    God Bless!

  • Australians are indifferent to the queen and all that royality thingey ....but the commonwealth isanother issue alltogether.........we like and respect being in a large grouping of like minded people.

  • god save the queen we are the commonwealth canadians Australians stick together

  • Australia wanted nothing to do with this war and the lies that sold it...until the Bali bombings happened which I believe was rather convenient just at the right time you might say so much for weapons of mass destruction I believe these and US and British soldiers served in a useless war that just lined the pockets of the fat cats at the expense of millions of Iraqis and hundreds of dead soldiers.

  • @Jacintalee24 A lot of Americans wanted nothing to do with this war as well. So sad that so many of us have died for no reason.

  • @gastonave Agreed mate and I'm sorry for your nations loss on 911...this whole thing has been nothing but a waste and a tragedy all the best!

  • why are the australians even there?

  • @theuglyhairmonster2 why is america and the other countrys there

  • @xXxXJaRRoDXxXx oil.....obviously, i understood australia had it's own though?

  • For so long the unofficial anthem of Australia. A nation that NEVER shirks to go to the aid of countries thousands of miles from their home. As dignified in peace as they are fierce in battle. Waltzing Matilda is synonomous with Australias Armed Forces - If an enemy hears that tune they are instantly filled with terror!!!

  • If we just keep up the aussie spirt we can get thought anything so come on all aussies keep up the great work :D

  • i love u aussies, but its time to face the truth , go to 911 truth and get more info

  • @charlie000111 We all know it was an inside job, who doesn't.

  • To my Autralian friends and family. Also to soldiers everywhere.

  • i reckon tht the aussies and the gurkas draw on toughness and they draw on the amount of times they faught in the world wars the thing tht annoys me is tht the aussies ran at galipoli but the gurkas did run a few times to

  • @dcnolan1995 When did we run? We never run from a fight that's what makes us the best soldiers in the world.

  • @dcnolan1995 Maybe get your facts straight about Australian military history before accusing people for running. During WW1 Australia's military was still majorly controlled by the british. Our troops were ordered to land at gallipoli by the british and were told that there would be little to no resistance. Immediately as the boys landed they were met with huge resistance as the turks had learned they were comin. Our soldiers had to climb almost sheer cliff faces under heavy fire.

  • @dcnolan1995 even through all this our boys pushed through and took the trenches at the top of the beach hills. Much of this was done hand to hand using bayonets. Our soldiers stayed there for quite a while engaging in mainly trench warfare with the enemy. one of our major losses was when the british ordered us to charge at turk trenches so as to pull their attention to us. This was so the british could land futher up the cost. Many of our boys died in those charges which did very little.

  • @dcnolan1995 Later it was found that when the brits landed at their designated beach it was almost deserted. Of course they neglected to tell us that. It was reported that while our soldiers were still chargin at the turk trenches the brits were sitting on their beach drinking tea. it was not long after this that mainly aussie generals ordered their own troops out. The escape from gallipoli is still widely known as one of the greatest escapes ever made. Not one casualty.

  • @dcnolan1995 God Bless Aussie soldiers and all who serve under our flag.

  • @CaptainBarr1 Aussies have always been there for us when we needed help. So God bless Aussie soldiers? Too true.

  • To the Australians --- From World War II to Korea, Vietnam, The Persian Gulf War and the wars in Iraq & Afghanistan --- no nation has had a more gallant, honorable and loyal ally than the United States has had --- and has --- in Australia. "He who shed his blood with me today, is my brother" --- every American and Australians are brothers in arms and in spirit.

  • @agatematt Amen, brother! The Aussies were some of the nicest and bravest soldiers I fought alongside in Nam, and I hope never to see another one die. God love and bless them all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Thank you Australia for your friendship, support and defense of freedom. May we never forget our friends.

  • May God shield you, you brave men and women. Thank you for doing what needs to be done.

  • When I was about to head into Iraq back in '09, I remember what the British Royal Army Officer said about the Aussies and Kiwi's in Iraq...something like they have uniforms that got all shot-up after a paintball match.

  • As an American, thank you for being such a good friend and ally.

God Bless America and Advance Australia Fair.

  • I'm amazed at some of the comments here. The song is fitting, because the song is about the swagman's fierce independent nature; how he valued his freedom more than his life. I can't think of a more fitting song for Australian armed forces.

  • iraq is a fail

  • Happy St. Pats to our displaced Irish cousins in OZ. God bless Australia!

  • Thank you Australia for being our friends.

  • australia and canada = brothers from the same mother

  • PROUD OF MY SON<AND ALL DIGGERS.

  • @cya4555

Australia is also one of only 5 countries(I believe) who have access to Abrams MBTs.

  • I'm amazed at all the American equpment in thes photos! I'm just saying

  • @cya4555 seriously dudethese are aussies its easy to tell the difference!

  • OUR NEW NATIONAL ANTHEM i think so !

  • @oleolle

    You are profound aren't you.

  • @MrJellyTheMaoist

    You full of shit!!!

  • @MrJellyTheMaoist is a useful idiot who almost finished reading a certain little red book but forgot to read the last chapter.... it reads, "you can buy a coke in beijing and there's even a KFC in mecca."

  • @MrJellyTheMaoist How dare you

  • God bless you all! Come back soon! Hopefully our ridiculous government will get you home safe! SOON!

  • @wembley05

Afghan, like the rest of the middle-east should be left to fight it out themselves. It is not worth the blood of any soldie. Bring ALL the troops home, Aussie, Brit, US, Canadian. and every other nation there

  • I have a soldier close to me...he has served overseas twice....

  • Thanks to all brave Aussies,Kiwis,Canadians, Brits, and our sundry other allies and thanks for the great song . Now someone please stop spamming us with your Reverend Wright racist rhetoric.

  • @huskyrancher Rev Wright is a nut job.

  • Great video, you can never thank enough all nations for the sacrifice . Right or wrong.

  • touching, nice!

  • OK can we all PLEASE stop te arguing about the pros and cons of war, because i dont think ANYONE here, esp. the author is here to make the clam that war is a beautiful thing.

It is however neccesary due to a thing called 'human nature'

On the topic however kudos to the author.

Respect the troops, not the war

  • I'd like to point out that in 1917 and in 1941 America fought in wars that your Britain, the "home" country for Australia more or less started. So lets not get into a pissing match about who started what, OK?

  • @IrishAirWolf Britain didn't start either war, WW1 was started with the assassination of Archduke Ferdinand, and WW2 was started by the Germans steamrolling Poland

  • @freddage91 The English are German and the Welsh are the real Britons.

  • @norb1937

  • @IrishAirWolf - the USA joined AFTER they were literally forced to do so, when the Japs attacked Pearl Harbour. They were not interested until then, just let the UK take it all.... so try to remember all the facts. They did help the win the war but the UK bore the brunt of the first two and a half years.

  • @Bajandoug I met an irish guy who claimed he was in the Battle of Britain. He was a sargent and he flew a spitfire. Since they lost a lot of pilots they even had sargents flying them. He was having a smoke in the plane when they attacked the German bombers over the channel. He said he smelled petrol since the machine gunner on the bomber was spraying him. He dropped the cigarette on the floor and stepped on it. The spit caught fire and he had to ditch in the channel.

  • @Bajandoug President Roosevelt did everything he could to get us in the war, sending arms to the Soviet Union, cutting the Japanese off our oil and iron. His "New Deal" econonomic plan was a failure , the US was slipping into another depression, and a war was the only thing that could save his party.

  • @huskyrancher Talk about the Soviets being an evil empire. The U.S. war budget is almost 900 billion a year. They occupy 3 countries, Iraq, Afganistan, and South Korea, as well as having soldiers in many parts of the world . Politicians are pushing to invade Iran and Pakistan. Remember all are forebears came from Europe or that part of the world . So their has always a need to help countries that are basically White with European descent. Not Egypt..

  • @joel968

Everyone has the right to help, doesn't matter what country it is.

  • @joel968 SHADDUPA UR FACE!

  • @Bajandoug President Roosevelt did everything he could to involve the US in the war, sending arms to the most repressive, evil government the world has ever seen, the Soviet Union. Remember them? And he cut the Japanese off from our oil and steel exports, as well as engaging in a massive propaganda campaign before December 7, 1941. The New Deal was failing, America was slipping back into the Great Depression, and a war was the only thinng that could save FDR's party.

  • @huskyrancher I don't know where you got your facts from but your wrong. You can't compare this war with ww2.President Roosevelt wanted the U.S. in the war because he was afraid of Hitlers dommination of Europe. Most of our families came from Europe and he knew it was wrong. At the time there was a large socialist movment in the U.S that thought America should stay out of everything. Just like today, we went into the balkins because people there are white.

  • They don;t care about Rwanda or the middle east, They are only worried about oil being cut off. Not the people. President Roosevelt got England to give up it's Colonies. He travelled the world and did not like colonialism. people were treated like dogs under that.

  • Thank you, Australia. I remember your service in Vietnam.

  • Kudos Australia.

  • Australia does her duty as an ally to the U.S.A. We do this because we are honourable and steadfast. Australians stand by their mates. Our soldiers risk their lives to keep us safe, as they have always done. lest we forget.

  • do the australians even do shit over there?? or just sit around and act tough?

  • @lokoneG

we do enough shit, that is for being dragged into a war america started but then again who cares

  • @lokoneG Show some respect you little shit, we have fought in every war you have gotten us into, don't like it? Go jump.

  • @ozzyguy67 Austrlians used to be some of the toughest men around, but now they're a bunch of brainwashed pussys

  • @lokoneG uhmm FYI

The australian SASR was in Baghdad before the war started gathering intel and marking targets, RAN frigates pouned Iraqui installation with a 100% success rate, and australian caribous hauled the most freigh for their class before their retirement last year.

You may not be aware of it because the SASR is seldom mentioned for reasons of security, and because there aren't 63 movies about our armed forces produced every year.

    just sayin =)

  • not alone

  • Cheers from America!

  • Cheers from Canada, Australian bros!

  • Australia...great country...great people...great soldiers....great "national anthem".Outstanding video.

  • Sad to see some moronic comments on here. Doubly sad to see the source of them giving cossacks a bad name. I'm sure cossacks from the quiet Don to the Stormy Terek are just thrilled to have centuries of culture associated with that.

My respect to the Diggers out there on the front lines. God bless.

  • why is the fucking us just sucking other countrys into war. how is fucking up other countrys making things better? better for who? rich?

  • *raises his shot glass with a prayer to the gods for his military Brothers and Sisters of Australia before throwing it back like the United States Marine he is*

  • Comment removed

  • hell yeah Australia hell yeah

  • As an American, I'd like to thank the Aussie troops, as well as all of the others serving in the Coalition. God bless all of you!

  • Thanks!

  • To all Coalition troops in the Middle East...US,British,Aussies and all others...Merry Cristmas and stay safe!

  • GOD BLESS OUR TROOPS !!!

MERRY X_MAS FAR FROM HOME AND SAVE RETURN !!!

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE !!!

  • I love how patriot we can really be: the rest of the world says how we aren't, but the truth is we are. To the guys still overseas: God Bless all you. May he keep you safe and not only protect you, but please God bring them all home safely. We love you boys. You are nations sons. This xmas 2010, I am extremely grateful and proud of everything you do and have done. You stand on a wall, all who serve and you give me the right to speak freely, to make my videos, for me to write. GOD BLESS YOU ALL.

  • I served in Vietnam at Phan Rang AB 1967/1968 with The Royal Australian Air Force. They were some of the finest people I have ever known. God Bless all of you and thanks for your friendship.

  • nice one boys

  • kombiPode would you game enough to say your ridiculous comments face to face with 6 SAS diggers. I reckon not.

  • @lengeldridge i agree LEST WE FORGET

  • @lengeldridge

Having both US and Aussi blood i must respond to your comment!

The heros who shed their blood side by side in Iraq fighting for freedom will always be remebered. May your atempts to tarnish their memory always fail!!

    Long live the US/AUS alliance!!

  • @caderly123 As your American sister, I say AMEN!

  • Aussies in Iraq participating in a war crime, an illegal invasion? Nuremberg Trials - "I was just following orders".

  • @KombiPode I was going to respond to your moronic comment then I realized you are not worth the effort.

  • You are right smp236520. We are right in the middle of another Ashes series and it is great. Same with the rugby, You know the Aussies are always going to fight hard and you will have a real contest, but at the end of it whoever wins will have done so honestly. You know where you are with the aussies - probably swapping banter in a bar - but deep down we have the same values. Mind you, I hope we bloody win the series!

  • I have a cousin in the army in Australia. I also have a cousin from the UK fighting in Afghan. Many familes in the UK have close relatives in Canada and Australia fighting. We all love our banter about the cricket and rugby but you will be pushed to find anyone in the UK bad mouthing any commonwealth country. You can see this when the queen makes her xmas speech. She thanks all the commonwealth troops. Lets all stay united against the threat of evil

  • The USA has a great friend in Australia thanks for all your friendship my home is always open to an Aussie .

  • Sorry I omitted the Malaysian and Indonesian emergencies from my previous post.

  • For such a young country we have been in all the major conflicts i.e. Boer War, World Wars1 and 2, Korea, Borneo,Vietnam, Iraq, Timor and Afghanistan etc. We have always been there too for humanitarian reasons at numerous countries around the world plus being part of United Nations commitments at various trouble spots.

Not too bad for a young country like ours.It is well known that the Aussie digger is the best in the world as are our airmen and sailors.

God bless all our ADF personnel

  • God bless our Aussie allies!!!!

  • thats our troops.Go gettem boyz

  • I was up for the draft during Viet Nam. But I was never drafted.

I'm just as glad considering how badly our government fouled up on that war. It's so sad that so many died simply because of bad political influences. My heart cries out for all who paid that price.

If I were young enough, I'd give serious consideration to joining today's military.

We are fighting for something very important. And I'm proud of every soldier that serves down there.

    God Bless America and Australia.
