My grandparent lived less than a mile from there. He tied his boat up off the little cove right beside the bridge. Many fond memories on Watt's Bar with the family. . We fished that very spot many time. Thanks for sharing.
Its up to you, try both and use which ever works best for you. I use mono; my main line is 12lb. It allows me to cast farther, and its strong enough for the fish I catch. But 20lb mono is not a bad choice.
The fish is native, commonly found in southern USA. There are also black buffalo, and bigmouth buffalo which reaches 80lb, about the same as a smallmouth buffalo. I have only cought smallmouth buffalos though.
Nice. About the same size as a carp might reach. But thats huge! It looks a lot like a common only brighter. And the head looks a bit different. Do you fish for any other spiecies like, pike or trout?

ok. Did you fish fly or spinning? Spinning is more fun with tiny spoons spinners and wobblers.

I did both but more spinning and I also used a tiny wobbler.

Yeah, that is as fun as it gets. I fish a lot for brown trout in summer. Never tried to catch them through the ice though.

Cool. Is that a native fish? Since it's a small mouth, is there a bigger kind Large mouth buffalo carp? We dont have any buffalo around here.
