  • So all I'm seeing so far in this trailer is that rich people are generally douchebags, and class warfare exists. None of this is exactly revolutionary. The difference between America and other countries is I and every other American have just as much of a chance at becoming a rich douchebag as these already-rich douchebags did. Nobody is pointing a gun at my head forcing me into a breadline. Remind me why this is bad for Americans, again?

  • The people are finally starting to organize against this plutocracy. Watch the video "Occupy vs. Top 1%" to see what they've been accomplishing.

  • revolt

  • kill the rich

  • we have no family its just me and my daughter and son

no one gives a dam and all we wanted to do was farm a hundred acers

grow food and have good milk for our neighbours

and hopefully eventually we would have friends

no one cares about us and all we want is to farm WHO WILL HELP US

who will give us the 130 thousand we need to buy the farm

or buy the farm and let us work for you for free for ten years?

wheres the people that care? integrity@cyg.net

  • @bw01a, to never fully enjoy life, only to work for a living to have what little you have when some rich guy makes what you make in a year in just a week doing nothing under the current tax boards. Please pull your head out of your ass before levying those judgements at an event you don't understand. Better yet, take that 15-inch government cock out of your ass as well. You must enjoy being fucked.

  • @bw01a, because the gap is widening, small businesses and below are not touched by any economic recovery at all other that large corporations and the upper class. My mom worked at her job for 20 years and she was laid off because her job lost business. Now she cannot live on her own and I must help. Of course you accept the way you live...

  • Like I said, give them a book, they chew on the cover!

Here's some Zen for ya, Don't sweat the petty things and don't pet the sweaty things!

  • Geez, you give a book they chew on the covers...That's what you get for "assuming"...remember what this country is founded on, it has faults, but so does everything. The grass is never greener on the other side, you still need to mow and water it.

  • thank you jamie-i hope you can teach the one percent to help the 99 percent.

  • ... comes the REVOLUTION!

  • @litsquad Nope, a family member of the Johnson & Johnson's did.

  • You freaking idiots, if this country never provided an opportunity to become wealthy in the first place you wouldn't be alive you MORON!

  • @uagrantc The web of relations that conect to my own birth can be drawn with degrees of complexity but it does not follow that my birth is the direct result of Free Market Capitalism. Your statement is telling. We live in a society that is formed around the idea that life itself is dependent on the unregulated accumulation of capital. Which is nuts.

  • @Thaxton Huh? I never said "free market capitalism"...so sorry I thought I was dealing with intelligence here...guess not..."provide an opportunity to become wealthy" for most people (99%) now I understand it, means MONEY only...LET ME REAL CLEAR, I hope you listen...MONEY is only one variable that contributes to wealth...In order to accumulate true wealth, you must understand MONEY has NO-thing to do with the ability to create it.

  • @uagrantc You said, "You freaking idiots, if this country never provided an opportunity to become wealthy in the first place you wouldn't be alive you MORON!" I assumed that "the opportunity to become wealthy" that you referred to was participation in the "free market" which has produced wealth for so many Americans. I took your statement to mean that the affluence of my parents' generation underwrote their ability to have a home and raise children.

  • I am now pointing my finger at myself which makes it hard to type.

  • Comment removed

  • @Thaxton Your problem bud is you can't figure out how to take your finger you're pointing at everyone else and turn your hand around and point it at yourself...I feel sorry for you, because you really are the "99%", unfortunately your math is flawed...All I can say is thank GOD, 99% of the people in the USA are not as blind as you are,

It's more like 47%, and all you have to do to be successful is succeed 51% of the time...So we "the 54%" still have hope!

  • @uagrantc We don't have the opportunity to become wealthy in this country dumbass. You're either born rich or born poor and you stay where you are because 1% have the power to buy out the law makers, politicians, military, media, and police to keep the 99% down while preserving their own wealth for generations at the expense of others. Why do you think banks get bailed out and not the people on the streets? Take a look in the mirror before you call other people morons.

  • @SoloWing808 Maybe YOU don't [have the opportunity], that's your fault...I am neither born rich, or poor, I am 44 years old married with 2 beautiful children, I AM RICH beyond my wildest dreams...I do however own my own business, and unlike yourself (I'm assuming) I not only sign the back of my paycheck, I ALSO SIGN THE FRONT!

Being rich is relative, your perception of rich/power is the problem, let me ask you a question, "Who's the one that CHOOSES to listen?

    Who's the dumbass now?

  • @uagrantc like a snake eating its own tail

  • @uagrantc So no other "person" wastes time commenting, you wouldn't be alive because the people that came here before you would not have "had the vision" to come to this great country in the first place...hence YOU WOULDN'T HAVE BEEN BORN!

BTW, looks like the fine people of this country are finally fed up with the cockroaches that have spread into the cities...can you say RAID! I hear they kill insects dead!

    GO Capitalism!

  • Give me all your money. Jamie. I won't feel guilty for even a nanosecond having it, and by giving it away you'll no longer feel so icky at how unfairly blessed you were.

  • So I saw Jamie's film and it was typical ultra liberal BS. In economics there are positive economics and normative economics. Normative economics is "the way we would like the world to be" and positive economics is "the way the world really is". It is inherent in human nature to seek wealth and then to guard it jealously once you have it. You can judge people for embracing their primitive survival instincts, but who is to say that they are wrong for doing so?

  • @velveetaslingshot your judgement (typical liberal BS) is typical capitalist BS. Capitalism is an economic system with virtues and flaws. It is not an immutable component of "human nature". Survivacl is instinctual but it does not follow that greed is as well. Greed is closer to neurosis than it is to instinct. We can cettainly design a world that is "the way we want it to be". We are talking about the exchange of goods and services, not weather and sunlight.

  • @Thaxton You said: "We can cettainly design a world that is "the way we want it to be". " Really? Let me know when that happens.

  • @velveetaslingshot It will always be a work-in-progress, but I'd point you to the Order of St. Francis the signing of the Magna Carta, The Four-fold Path of the Buddha, the ratification of the U.S. Constitution, the deveolpment of penicillin as examples of how to go about designing the world.

  • @Thaxton - "We are talking about the exchange of goods and services, not weather and sunlight." - good point, I believe in minimal government regulation, preventing unfair compteition i.e. trust busting of President Teddy Roosevelt, breakups of Standard Oil / AT&T / Microsoft etc - but Free Market Capitalism overall. That's why I'm voting for Ron Paul for President. There does seem to be too wide a disparity between super-rich and barely surviving in America right now. Occupy Wall Street...

  • @velveetaslingshot - "You can judge people for embracing their primitive survival instincts, but who is to say that they are wrong for doing so?" - But the playing field is increasingly becoming unfair. When large corporations block smaller competing companies, then finance political campaigns to determine who gets elected, the elected ratifies or abolishes laws that favor said corporations, Federal Reserve bails out banks - then government taxes citizens to pay the Fed with interest... think...

  • @njiuma Think about what? My comment was an observation on the behaviour of human beings in general and the fact that you can not change human nature. My point is that in terms of evolution and Darwinism, ie survival of the fittest, greed and corruption obviously serve some function related to the survival of the human species. Otherwise it would not exist if it did not benefit the perpetuation of the species. Think.

  • @velveetaslingshot - "...greed and corruption obviously serve some function related to the survival of the human species." - I would argue that greed and corruption lead to the extinction of the species. think about it...

  • Huge respect for Jamie and I hope you keep working in this direction, we are so many people with similar thoughts around the planet. I hope our generation will make something happen.

  • 2006 before the crash and all the bail outs

  • I just saw 1% on Netflix. I just wanted to thank Jamie Johnson and company for making this documentary. I hope to see more from them on this issue.

  • But people is more and will wake up becouse they feel the opression. It never was the goverment but this secret society JFK started talking about before he was killed he gave you a fair warning about the machine and we made it so powerful than now wants it all no caring for the human race but we as a world need to stand up togheter...

  • @Jzone527

Secret society? What planet do you live on?

The Koch Bros., the "Tea Party" and Fox News have been pushing all of these perverse Ideals right out in the open, for decades. It is NO "secret" my friend.

  • People need to understand that history reapits it's self and no empire known can succed because piramids need slaves the ones on the real bottom sufer the whiping of the master, the ones in the middle work for eventually for nothing when the ones at top exploiting every nation and finally it's own will comsum everithing and kill it's people at the end!

  • @tswagg504 well its too bad that everyone is a corporate drone, your car, your food, your technology. Just about everything in your life is under corporate control, there are few small independent businesses left. the rich will only get richer through deals will politicians and mergers, and the poor will be left in the lurch, b/c the market is fast becoming costly and not free.

  • Or he could have done a documentary on the pitfalls of being rich. Instead what we get is a genertic class warfare piece. That accomplishes nothing but get us angry at the rich for being rich.

  • I was disapointed with this documentary. No facts, no figures, heresay about the dangers, they touched on a lot of good ideas but never engages in any of them. Johnson could have made a compelling documentary how rich people percieve themselves with his father, and the obvious conflict that he had between his wealth and his hippie roots. He could of done a documentary on the inheritance tax and whether or not that is fair or part of the free market. continued

  • Dear Top 1%,

It's not that I "want" what you have. It's that I "want" to have the opportunity to have any form of prosperity. Pay back into the system that has provided your wealth. We do.

    Sincerely,

    The Other 98%

    **close the loopholes!!**

  • Its not the rich fault that there are poor people....it the fault of the poor people themselves, its anti american to think otherwise. These people that advocate policies like these just want poor people to never have a job and get everything for free, and guess what your not for freedom and you not an American.

  • @TheDukeljk You sir are a very misguided. The amassing of wealth by the 1% without social balance is destroying this country. What will they do when people are so broke and destitute they cannot afford to but their products? They might want to re-read their bibles. "Truly, I say unto you, it will be hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. [Matthew 19:23] You cannot serve both God and Money. [Matthew 6:24."

  • @powerface71 While your assertions to your perceived problem are valid, the data does not support your implied solution. Income tax receipts did not go down, as a % of GDP when the brackets were drastically lowered, since the 1960's. Not only that, but most of the federal budget is income tranfser, like social security. The income tax share has also risen among "the one percent."

  • I would rather be poor than know by my profit and y wealth others must suffer in poverty. God makes me rich beyond worldly possessions.

  • worth watching. i was shocked to learn that warren buffet disowned his grand daughter because she was in the film. there is nothing wrong with questioning things. being right or wrong is another issue. weird.

  • Comment removed

  • Respond to this video... american govt likes to care of their super rich!

  • @AhYaOk Wait, Warren Buffet is against this film? I thought he was relatively socialist? I seem to recall him asking the US government to raise taxes on the rich a while back.

  • I hope Jamie Johnson continues making these docs. He is in a unique position to comment on the power and influence of the 'superrich', and has an unusual empathy for non-material values. I think he may just have a chance to have a 'happy' life.

    Good Luck, Jamie

  • The very rich making it very hard for there to be new rich people. Capitalism isn't working, b/c companies join together and make multinationals. America will soon become more like india with a larger poverty class

  • @mundawgs what we have in this country today isn't capitalism, its fascism.....capitalism is great because its fair because absolutely anyone can become rich, or at least work for themselves.

  • Just watched the entire thing on Netflix. 5 stars.

  • What has the world come to when we need millions or even billions of dollars just sitting in our bank accounts to live?

  • @triniclemist If you put a billion dollars in the bank account you would loose $10,000,000 dollars a day. Their money is in the form of assets, in other words the backing on your paycheck.

  • @strangemyth per Mo*

  • Zeitgeist!

  • you can find the solution at thezeitgeistmovement(dot)com

  • If I were Mr. Johnson, I would calmly cut this kid off of any money. He could come over for dinner, but I would not give him a dime.

  • I watched this and got really depressed, we're all slaves.

  • Taxation is unfair when it is applied unequally to different people. The different tax rates punish those that succeed in the name of fairness to those in need is only justified by a bias to success. The other thing not ever mentioned is the growing gap in our societies views to opportunities verses entitlements. I believe the biggest change is not government or private control as much as a shift of people from the middle to both the optimistic and the pessimistic views leaving few in the middle

  • I hope in my life time we do have that revolution and we destroy the corrupt corporate system that has pushed the US back into a dark age of the haves and the have nots.. the government has been bought by the wealthy and now they are raping the country at will...there is no moral imperative that says u must support this system in fact it is a moral imperative to fight it

  • @xadam2dudex I wish you could set up your moral society on another planet so I could stand back and laugh as it collapses. At least everyone will be equally poor and deprived in your society...

  • @thebestsumoeva u r a corrupt fool.. u care more for money and property than human life or the world we live in.. hell is full of people like u

  • @xadam2dudex You've got the right idea my friend! It's time we make a fucking change and instead of letting these rich douche bags attempt to "cleanse" (used by a rich fuck in the movie about cleansing the city of its poor and removing them) the cities of poor, we should CLEANSE the country of THEM. Narcissistic mother fuckers...

  • @triniclemist The Asian driving the Lambo was their sympathetic O_0

  • @xadam2dudex Have you scene hell or talked to the people there? Trust me I care far more for human life than you can imagine, I just don't support policies which make men slaves to other men for the shear fact that they are smarter. Every country implementing policies like this have destroyed their economies and inadvertently killed millions of their citizens. Why would you call for the destruction of the country with arguably the best standard of living in the world? You must be broken...

  • This is the ugly truth about America: That the main way the rich really get rich, is by being related to, or sufficiently entangled with, the right people -- preferably those closest to the families who own the Federal Reserve.

  • @TheLogicJunkie not really, there are many rich that were not from a rich family. ex: oprah. there are more. but in reality anyone can become rich, depends on what you think is rich and if your going to do something about it.

  • 0:46 And... Warren Buffet just took you out of his will. Nice going kiddo. 60 Billion right out of the window.

  • ONE PERCENT, ONE PERCENT, ONE PERCENT, ONE PERCENT.

  • The system has become rigged so that few can join the ranks unless they are doing something that may technically be legal, but is underhanded.

  • Mo' money mo' problems. :)

  • u don't know that yet, suppose ur a poor black african who just came from jungle and have no idea of what technology is, then u give him a million dollars. he certainly will spend a lot but as time goes on, the newer generation will develop and be more educated. so there u go, he'll have his class,

everyone aren't born rich and habits r made by doing something daily on regular basis.

  • distributing wealth would sure help in at least one way: survival. Not gonna be much lower class if they're dead and starving, right?

  • "but he still has no class."

what the hell does this even mean? class and wealth are not one in the same. if you want proof, look for any video on youtube featuring the hiltons or brandon davis, who all come from extremely wealthy families, but have less moral character and respect for their fellow people than the majority of impoverished families i have worked with and spoken to.

  • @heysaturdaysun

Class and wealth are in fact one in the same. The Webster's dictionary definition of class reads as follows: "a group sharing the same economic or social status", and also "a group, set, or kind sharing common attributes". The only reason we interpret class to refer to tact or manners is because there is a certain polite value-set upheld by the moneyed class/owing class/ruling class. While we in the U.S. may think that politeness and tact is the end-all be-all...

  • (cont.)...it is in fact the reason that we find our nation's socioeconomic system in the clusterfuck that it's in (not the only reason for certain, but one of many). As a student of sociological, historical, and political theories, I felt obliged to address your ignorance in hopes of catching someone's eye and giving them a tidbit of insight.

  • Hey, hard work never made a person low class. Class is what you do, reguardless of weath and position, with what God gave you. You chose to open your yap and say ignorant things against people. That choice wasn't very sound.

  • like how all the rich whities in this trailer are interviewed face to face while all the poor black people are featured in shaky long shots from a passing car while other white people talk about their awful plights.

  • the shit is fucking steep

  • haven't seen it , but ned to, rented Born Rich, loved it, awesome shit, Jamie Johnson is in my cool book, favorited forever

  • So true, Ive been searching for this movie online, and it is like the mirage that never was.. haha.. so much for a free world!!

  • In my opinion, the reason why you will not find The One Percent movie available for viewing anywhere illegally is because youtube/google video or any other torrent site would be SUED for an extraordinary amount of money, if the people in the movie found out that the movie about them has been Pirated. Cheers!

  • This is by far the most difficult to find movies, ever. I'm sure you can buy it somewhere or order it from HBO, but I dont want to, the people who made this movie have TOO MUCH MONEY!

  • where can i see the documentary the one percent?

    thank you

  • It will be shown here(free) at 10a.m.:

The Vera Davis McClendon Youth and Family Center

610 California Ave. in Venice, CA 90291

  • WHERE. CAN. THIS. DOCUMENTARY. BE. VIEWED?!? Someone please post it to Google video, or segment it on YouTube. It NEEDS to be seen, and should not be censored on behalf of the banker class.

  • giterdun77

I just ordered it, and I'll post it as soon as I can.

In the meantime, watch 'Born Rich' as it was made by the same guy.

  • When are you going to post it?It's not on NetFlix, and I'm not paying $20 to buy it. Sheesh. I REALLY WANT TO SEE THIS!!!! AAAHHHH!!!!!

  • Could you upload it to a .torrent site? :)

  • That girl's mother got divorced only after few years and remarried another man and the girl was young but she still kept her last name. I would be annoyed when I see my step-grand daughter act like she's my grand daughter just because im rich. I read that she asked him for college tuition and he payed for it and she asked for more money but he didn't give her money to move to an apartment or sumthin and it's like she's just asking for money..

  • oh and im talking about warren buffet

  • Maybe you should do research before you post...He has strict rules with his Granchildren that we will only give them money for educational purposes....Shes an artist...she didn't ask him for college tuition like a begger...and then the apartment money was for a futon or a couch....no you wouldnt be a lil annoyed if your grandfather was the richest man in the world n he would help you with a futon comeon plzzz

  • "The one percent", I hope people realize, the top one percent includes all Europeans and Americans from all classes! Because 1% of the world is 650 million people!

  • @primummovens i hope you go back to school and take maths.

  • @primummovens

The one percent statistic is referring specifically to the United States, ignoramus.

  • Im pretty sure that the girl in the video that says money is the spoke in my grand fathers wheel is Warren Buffets grand daughter. Id like to put my spoke in her wheel. or- I wish shed ride me like a bike or I whish my face was her bike seat I can keep doing her bicycle analogies. Shes a cute broad.

  • hell yea

  • I have read several times that the Rothschilds alone (who are the keepers of the Vatican Treasury) have over 70 per cent of all the wealth of the planet. So that leaves 30 percent for the rest. Then there is 1 per cent who takes half of that. So that leaves 15 percent for most of us to fight over.

  • Maybe mr. Buffet himself stopped this film from coming out. If someone finds it please let me know. I know that Buffets son married a lady that already had a daughter & now is furious that she spoke of him, ha all that money and this bothers him. He disowned her in a public letter. I have no respect for him anymore

  • yea I just read an article on that.

  • I agree with you. I can't believe a man who's so larger than life can do something so immature.

  • I can't wait to see either. I wish that they would release it already!

  • I really want to watch this and I can't find it anywhere!

  • same here i wish to purchase this video can anyone tell me where to buy it

  • Where can this film be found? It's not on NetFlix, and not on Google Video, either.

  • Send me some percentage!

  • where can i watch this? i saw it once on cinemax and wana see it again !

  • Jamie Johnson release this movie already. or but the damn thing on youtube for free. It's not like you need the money, just call it a lost.

  • I wanna see the full length video. Where do you guys think I can watch it?

  • HEY! Where can I find the entire documentation? THANKS! ;)Laura

  • Jamie's first movie is great. I will buy this movie on dvd if and when it comes out.

  • I really admire Jamie Johnson for having the balls to question something which is obviously not right. All of the other rich idiots like Rod Steward's son...well they don't question anything. They just take drugs, booze away and sleep around. Wow, what a fulfilling life!

  • Props to J.J. on making a sequel to 'Spoiled Little Rich Kid', a more polished film than his first, which was very good in it's own rite. The Film, 1% has Tremendous Potential Social Import.

  • I advocate socialism!

  • LoL! It does seem to lean in that direction, doesn't it. I haven't yet seen the film, so I will get back with you on that. Lord love the working stiff. Cheers!

  • I hope that someone can upload a copy of this or something. I've wanted to see it since I saw it on Oprah.

  • Jamie is Brillaint. but I have not seen this movie yet. Is it out on DVD?

  • No, it was never made on DVD. I am also looking to watch it...

  • should watch the movie "zeitgeist". i dont agree with all of it but there is a lot of truth in it

  • REALITY HURTS.

  • this movie was good.. i saw it on cinemax.

  • And taxes are there for a reason, all the best countries in the world have a high taxation system, in America a "free" country that is controlled by the wealthy, the richer you are, the less you have to put into the tax system, does that seem fair?

And the Ron Paul Anarchy/"Free Market" will never work, unless you just want to live in Anarchy

Again I hope people wake up, the corporations(TV, media) are brainwashing you, people need to wake up and see what the real problem is

  • Classic liberalism, where private corporations extract natural resources, sell them in a free/global market, get taxed heavily by a global government that provides security for all citizens in the world.

  • The only war in America is the class war that is being despensed by the Upper 1%, I applaud Jaime Johnson for pointing this out

The Upper class is winning this war, but we have the masses, once people stop watching the television and are able to think for themselves, or just find themselves becoming poorer and poorer they will wake up

  • His other movie "Born Rich" is on google video, if you'll are interested. I thought it was pretty poor, and the guys lisp bugs me for some reason, not trying to be rude.

  • If you find the video could please upload it. I would like to see how he covers the issue of the growing economic disparity.

    --THANKS

  • is this movie out yet? I can't find it on hbo.

  • Best trailer I've seen in a while

  • I would like to see the movie, but don't have any Cinemax channels. I wonder if it will ever be on HBO. I have a bunch of HBO channels, HBO HD, and HBO On Demand.

  • Yes, the movie points that out. But why should individuals, no matter how super rich, be punished when they die? And to what end? Do you think that money buys free steak dinners for the poor? Cause you'd be wrong. From what I know it goes to pay down the interest on the debt we accrue daily. If your going to punish people for being super rich and dead at least have the money go somewhere other than super rich banks. No?

  • WOW! I think you answered your own question. How is it punishment if they are already dead?

  • they might have children, grand children etc.

  • and why should someone inherit wealth they did not earn?

  • Because people create wealth, they have children and the wealth then stays within the family. I don`t work my ass of so you can get an easier life, I work for my children/grandchildren etc. that`s the only reason, if you`re gonna steal that from them, I might as well do nothing, is that better?

  • that makes no sense, people work them selves to the bone everyday for almost nothing, no, if you do well in life, you should be able to keep it in the family, but your statement doesn't really make much sense.

  • I won`t work my ass of to support you through a welfare state, I will on the other hand, work my ass of to make my childrens lifes easier/better.

  • @nammoo89

So, giving someone with a disability money they did not work for or innovate for is a bad idea.

But given money to someone who happened to come from your sperm, money they did not work for or innvate for is a good idea.

    sounds fair to me.

  • Why shouldn't they? Why should the 'government' have it? You see, the government produces nothing. There are no gov't. workers building houses, making cars, growing food. Even if there were, they would have to work for free in order to offer the citizens 'free' anything. Gov't. can only take from producers and give to non-producers. I wonder which are you?

  • non-producers, you mean like a corporate CEO?

  • @KentAllard No like that man on the street claiming to be crippled that walks just fine. Actually its not his fault he is on the street, it is the backwards moral code society has trained him. In this code the weaker and sicker he is the more of your money he is allowed to have, never mind the fact he has done nothing to benefit anyone but him self. Am I harsh? Perhaps it is not me who is harsh, but reality...

  • @thebestsumoeva go read some books on money and banking, educate yourself on how it actually works and then come back and shout your opinion on "reality" from the rooftops. you may find your "opinion" to be slightly altered by the "pesky" facts. damn facts, they get in the way of a good argument dont they. i suggest you start with reading up on how the fractional reserve system works, also read up on how interest in money works. if u have trouble finding a starting point try "the money masters"

  • @getclogged Our banking system is no longer capitalist, we have legalized certain banks to print as much money as they please. Blaming all rich people for our problems is a silly mistake. I do not pity the bum on the street that sits day after day doing nothing to improve himself nor do I admire the bank that can inflate it self while devaluing currency for its own gain. I would give you exactly what needs to be changed in banking, but its a fairly long discussion.

  • @thebestsumoeva i totally agree with u that blaming rich people is pointless. they are just playing the game to their advantage. its the game that needs to revised. i also agree alot of bums could do much better for themselves. in regards to banking, we could make improvements, but when u look at money mechanics and the market system it is impossible to create abundant resources for EVERYONE, it is a system that will always create imbalance. proven historically in every country, always.

  • @getclogged You can completely blame them. You can blame them in any way you'd like considering the fact that daily they're making what most families make in a whole year; and they do this in a FRACTION of a day. They are so consumed with this money that they can't let any of it go for fear of losing it all. Such narcissism has brought them to believe they are helping, when with a contribution from all of them they could make a great difference in the country and eventually the world.

  • @mongobobo

no matter how super rich, be punished when they die?

Did not agree with most of this video, but I do have a problem with the Inheritance tax. Starting with the fact that you can't punish a dead person, unless you happen to be a god, they're dead.

No?

  • Only greedy people perceive taxes as a punishment. If you earn a lot of money you should pay more in taxes not less. That's kindergarten logic it's not rocket science.

  • Why does helping people have to be mandatory, and why should politicians decide what to do whith the money?

  • Helping people isn't mandatory but it requires compassion. A society without is a morally and spiritually bankrupt society. Inhuman is good word to describr it.

As for politicians: why do we need rulers? do we?

  • I live in Norway, socialists controll the government, taxes are very high, the government has got more than enough money, but they still wan`t to increase taxes. So helping is mandatory on the socialists terms, but norwegians are not allowed to keep most of their own income, which means that they can`t/don`t have the financial resources to help privately, that leads to a society without compassion.

  • Heh, I think you choose the wrong socialist country to present as a drab industrialized wasteland with identical apartment blocks :). Norway is basicly one of the richest countries in the world... an no it is not the oil neighbouring Sweden, Finland and Denmark is the same and no oil... Of course diverse opinions are appreciated but anyone saying NO is a tyranny well should realy just take a vacaton away for that matter trust me 99% of them will be back.

  • Norway is subsidized by oil/natural gas, produced by mother nature, not norwegians. The norwegian government has the equivalent of three years worth of government budgets invested in stocks/bonds around the world, and still the socialist parties want to increase taxes to gain more controll over the people/their finances. Sweden, Finland and Denmark have net government debt, ie socialism is not sustainable in the longterm.

  • About 60-80 % of peoples(the ones that actually works) incomes in Norway are confiscated/redistributed by the socialist government or spent on government projects, people don`t get to choose for themselves how their own money should be spent, it`s gets decided over their heads. Norway has about 4 800 000 inhabitants, 1 300 000 are on some kind of welfare, 800 000 are employed by the government, that leaves very few people to do the work that`s recuired in the society.

  • We have more than 100 000 guest workers from poorer countries to work for us, paid for by the money we receive when we sell goods produced by nature to other countries/home countries of the guest workers. Of course people would like to live in Norway, they`re subsidized by oil/natural gas, produced by mother nature, which means people don`t need to work themselves, they can live on the oil/natural gas revenues. And what country do you live in?

  • Collective ideologies/religions who wants to controll people are inhumane! If you believe besserwissers/powerhungers/sadists etc. know how you should live your life better than you do, you can hire them privatey to run your life, but don`t force everyone else to live under their tyranny to.

  • Utopian prattle, Those that tried to abolish the state ended up with the USSR or the Jungle (Actually you can visit Somalia today and write, oh wait no post offices...). Sorry to whack you with reality here...

  • Classic liberalism, not anarchism, not abolish the state, but have a state that actually protects people from oppressors, not one that does the oppressing.

  • except for a minority that has been turned into mindless randroids by corporate propaganda, the general population generally thinks its a good idea to do something about a poor child getting an education and so on, now you raise a tactical issue about how the money is used and true enough that ought to be a democratic decision made by the community

  • Yes of course the majority thinks it`s a good idea to live off of other peoples labour. Problem is that it`s politicians who controll the money, they will make promises to win elections, promises they can`t keep, the oppositions makes promises they can`t keep, and so on. There has to be a balance between what each person/family consumes/produces, you can`t get alot of children if you can`t even support yourself. A better way is to let the people who actually do the work, knows the value of money

  • "it`s a good idea to live off of other peoples labour" - I didn't know that factories and farms and workplaces were suddenly being managed by the people who work in them. Oh wait they're not, the workers are wage slaves who sell themselves to the owners.

  • Well as long as some people/nations are allowed to have exclusive property rights over mother nature, that`ll be a problem!

  • be allowed to controll the money/goods they produce and not let the socialist/anarchist politicians get any power/control. It`s better if you let the people who do the work, do the helping on their own terms, it`s their money/fruits of their labour. The collective does not own the individual, the majority has no right to confiscate the fruits of the minorities labour. Each individual should have the property rights to his/hers life/labour/freedom.

  • manb4war says: "If you earn a lot of money you should pay more in taxes not less."

But that doesn't address the question I asked. You are not approaching the issue logically but emotionally. For whatever reason you appear to dislike wealth.

Again, and think logically, where to your tax dollars go? Not where you think they should go. But really, where does all of that income end up?

  • I honestly don't remember what your question was. I don't on the other hand hate or dislike wealth. It's not a matter of wealth or class it's simple arithmetic. You earn more you pay more, you earn less you pay less. Now if that doesn't make sense to you it is only because you are biased and overcome with greed.

  • You pay for what you buy, how hard you work/much money you make has nothing to do with it!
