Congratulations to you! I, too, donated my left kidney a little over two years ago, and wouldn't trade that experience for anything in the world. The recovery was painful but do-able, and the young man who received the kidney is healthy. Again, congratulations on your kindhearted gesture, and I hope your recipient is also doing well.
Hi to all!At first I wish you long and strong life.I am from Kosovo. And I a on hemo too.I need a kidney ,but all my family are A-pozitiv(blood group),and I am 0 poziitv.I am deprest and tired from everything. Some days I dont want earther to live.Dyaliz is sow sow sow bad and depresiv.I am very glad for you that you are fine now.
I got a kidney from my dad. The surgery is not as bad as it sounds, it's actually not such a big surgery for the recipient, a bit worse for the donor but doctors have new techniques for both, and it is getting easier. The drugs are the clever bit and you soon get used to taking those.
I'm sorry your on Dialysis. It can be alot at first to take in. If you want to ask me any questions feel free. I was on hemo for 6 years and got a transplant in march 2007, from my friend. I can tell you anything you want to know, at least from my experience. Dont get depressed, its hard but you will be alright. Be thankful you dont need a heart or liver, not saying there is no hope for them cause there is. We have 3 options to keep living, Hemo, peritoneal or transplant.keep your head up kid
im on hemo dialysis too what go you think of stem cell transplant. will it help repair my kidneys?? pls reply thanks. how much is the cost of tranplant of kidneys. im from manila. thanks
I wouldn't recommend doing it without knowing who you'll be helping. The recovery is difficult and doctors still don't know how long you can live with only one kidney. That being said, if you really want to, I think your first step is to find a transplant center and get your blood typed to see if you're a match for someone on the list. Good luck.
My daughter had her transplant 2 years ago in July... As a donor her father had a harder time bouncing back.. asked if he would go through it again... he still says absolutely!
heey. so your a kidney donor! me to, or not yet but very soon. Im just wondering how is it? how was it after the operation? you know.. how do you feel now and things like that?
The first week after sucks! You're filled with gas that you can't get rid of and your insides feel like someone just reached inside of you and moved all of your guts around (which they did). It gets better, quickly after that first week, but takes a while to get to 100%. It's all worth it though. My mom's creatinine was down to 1.3 (from 6.4) within 2 weeks after surgery. A year later, she has more energy than I do. GOOD LUCK!

People like you have my upmost respect - you're truly amazing. My father had a kidney transplant yesterday, his sister donated one of her kidneys.
Bless you and all like you, I think you're wonderful !!!

Good luck to your dad. I'm sure his sister will tell you it was the easiest decision she's ever made.

How do you feel now? How is the recipient of your kidney, your Mom? (My Mom lived perfectly fine with one kidney, that's what she always told me.)
You know, donating a kidney makes you a true hero. G-d bless you!!! And your Mom!!!
