@tony5tark5 Thank you for opening our eyes on this, we've never heard such a claim before.. How about you train whatever you want to train and we train what we want to train. Which is Kyokushin. OSU!
@zachpit as much as I respect UFC fighters, I have to tell you that that statement is wrong. Mas Oyama has fought and killed grown bulls, and on a few occasions killed them with a singe punch. The martial arts school he founded has over 10 million members in 120 countries worldwide. This guy was on another level.
@NarutoUzumakis go stand in the ring with a kyokushin black belt and cop a kick to the head, then talk shit. they fall down because they are unconcious.
@ToraJutsu01 no,they fall down cause they are weaklings, and im not playing tough just cause this is internet,id say this to you an them in person any time, they are not tough at ll,just too weak!
@NarutoUzumakis Go fight in a kyokushin tournament then. If your so tough and they are so weak then go fight them and beat them at their own game. You could be world famous. and please record it. i'd love to see you get knocked out. Oooh you'd "say it to me in person", what a big statment, considering the chances of us being within easy travelling distance of each other is miniscule that took alot of guts for you to say. bravo!
@ToraJutsu01 well, asholes like you never had the guts to say shit to me in real life, when they do they usually get their assed kicked ig time, but i dont give what you think, never play tough,i just stad my opinion,,real fighters and real men were fucking gladiators, thse are jsut karate pussies, karate is like ballet, totally worthless, but nice to watch thats all,and those black belt karate pussies are just weak idiots,ho were probably beaten up all the time in their childhood
@NarutoUzumakis yeah yeah more shit talking, if you think they are weak go enter a kyokushin tournament, if your not willing to put your money where your mouth is then your shit talking means nothing.
I had great respect for the gentleman, however I only later realized with sorrow and disappointment that he was'nt exactly a saint. He understood the art of karate and the science of manipulation equally well. I am sorry to say this myself but life is a lot more complex then what we tend to make out of it and it's true that after all no matter what we are mortal human beings in flesh n blood, with virtues n vices...He was great, but he did unfair things too.
LOL! The height of stupidity! No punches allowed to Jodan (face) only Chudan (mid section), but kicks to the head are allowed. So what do the dumb asses do? They keep their guard low to protect chudan. Then here comes a mawashi geri POW!!! LOL! You'd think they'd be able to figure that out! HAHAHAHAHA!
Maybe a master such as yourself can block everywhere at once but us mortals can't and occasionally we get hit. Please o master teach us your ways of invincibility as clearly you would defeat all these lesser fighters -_-
@aldridge1 Gladly! Here goes! Kyokushin fighters stand toe to toe w/ one another and swap body punches because they know full well that their opponent cannot punch them in the face. For this reason they keep their hands low to protect their body and throw chudan level tsukis! A well placed mawashi geri to the side of their unprotected head will usually put a stop to all of their "Superman shit"! ROFLMAO!
'A well placed mawashi geri to the side of their unprotected head will usually put a stop to all of their "Superman shit"' - isn't that what the clip shows? what were you watching? You haven't explained how you would solve this problem, you have just decribed what you just watched. No set of rules is without problems. Perhaps you think dance tag (fairy point fighting) is better but it has its own down sides as do styles with gloves. Arrogance and willful ignorance will only slow your learning.
If i am right Mas Oyama died 16 years ago on 26 April (today) and I've made a video about him. It is called :"The 16th anniversary of the sudden death of Sosai Mas Oyama." Please, if you can watch this video and tell me what you think. Osu.
u know shit about mma or karate dumbass u know Andy Hug? kyokushin karate champ and k-1 grand prix...try inform yourself better, St. Perre which is one of the best mma fighters is a kyokushin fighter too...try wiki that might help a little
Mas Oyama could kick well and "head hunt" with his kicks, but he was called the God "hand" not the God "foot". It is certainly unthinkable, that the Kyokushin world champion excels at kicks but is only mediocre at his punches in contrast.
He kicks well, why not break his legs?
Some serious training on the elbow strikes and knife strikes for about 1 year and it can be done. Oh, and an easier thing is to simply punch him down. The Jap fighter did not attack at all, his spirit had already lost.

that's his best student now the president of international karate organization hes pretty famous in the karate world his he took 12th place home at the 12 opening kyokushin karate tournement at just 17 and later on he took 3rd second and 1st in many years
The fight starting at 4:20 just proves that the tournament rules do not favour smaller fighters and that the style does not have the tools to allow smaller person to win against bigger opponent. The small fellow was wise enough to keep huge distance.

IMO only!!! "SHOTOKAN"-K is what i Learn and Study!"
Um, while the video featured Kyokushin fighters in it, Mas Oyama was nowhere to be seen in the film. So why do you label it 'the history of m. oyama'?
its forbidden to punch in the face for an obvious reason but the difference between a body punch and a head punch is max 40-50 cm vertical , the rest of the technique is the same , the real weakness is that a lot of fighters lack the habbit to guard their heads , but what doesn't kill you makes you stronger right ? :)
theyd have to wear gloves, and then itd just end up as kickboxing. of course kyokushin fighters learn to punch to the head, its just simply dangerous in a tournament to do so
it maybe dangerous, look at the ko,s that andy hug does to his opponents with his hands in k1. just imagine if he didn,t wear gloves. but like ivomeleto said: the real weakness is the rules of kyokushin itself make the fighters lack the habbit to guard their heads, n it could be dangerous when aplied in a real fight, or mma nowadays.all i,m sayin is sooner or later every fighter ,re gonna have to adjust their style in different situation if they wanna survive in every batle. osu :)
Pretty on spot, the key to survival in any encounter is adaptability--no matter what style you practice a fight in the street will not be tailored to it, and accordingly you will be required to adjust how you approach combat, if only slightly. The added element of pavement on the ground or everday items used as weapons itself alone offers more variability than a competition ever could.
And as for Kyokushin fighters not being used to gaurding their heads properly this is a product of the rules twofold. A fighter used to kumite strikes only to the body with his hands which leads them to drop and chamber lower rather than higher. Added to this is the fact that a large number of the strikes (punches) are aimed solely at the body leading this to be gaurded more often. Together this leads to habits that could leave the fighter's head (an important target) vulnerable.
Lastly, in terms of punches to the face and head being dangerous, this is very true given the lack of protective gear. In the very least this would lead the competitions to much bloodier from cuts and broken noses. Of course, there are other dangers of the same severity already precisely because it is perfectly legal to kick and knee to the head. A kick or knee can deliver just as much or even more force than a punch. This is evident in the number of knockouts delivered via kicks to the head.
get in a street fight against a kyukushin blue belt and then tell me if he was weak. I say blue because higher than that you would not be able to say anything at all afterwards.
Im a kickboxer and when I fight a cant knee the balls. If I were to defend myself in the streets do you think I would not knee the balls?! Wake up, please.
It's easy to punch someone in the face mate, the thing with kyokushin is that, it shouldn't be done in sparring because it can be too devastating. It is easy to pull of a gedan punch to the face, we do practice the moves, but they aren't allowed to be used in kumite. Maybe you can't understand Kyokushin's philosophies because you have not been training it. Learning a Karate isn't about going out there and being able to get into Street fights, but being able to get out of them without harm.
You're absolutely right. Not punching to the face makes it much more grueling and difficult. Anyone can punch to the face. This is great stuff. Some of those kicks are right on the money. If I was to ever train in another style of karate, I'd give Kyukoshin a serious look. Osu.
i've been training the last 24 years and reached 5th Dan in a couple of styles, am now learning Kyokushin got to 2nd Kyu so far, it's the hardest style i've found. well worth it though, fighting in a few tournaments put all the other things i've tried in the shade. OSU
yes tahat´s why on this way the combat is longer and so we don´t use protections and we don´t wanna hurt nobody but in the gym we train jodan or hits to the head or face but i think that you know it lol

its forbidden to punch in the face for an obvious reason but the difference between a body punch and a head punch is max 40-50 cm vertical , the rest of the technique is the same , the real weakness is that a lot of fighters lack the habbit to guard their heads , but what doesn't kill you makes you stronger right ? :)
ivomeleto 2 years ago
yeah guarding the head is a hard habbit to have cuz you get so tired, heh found out the hard way for guarding the head at my last tournament lol
USAFighter09 2 years ago
theyd have to wear gloves, and then itd just end up as kickboxing. of course kyokushin fighters learn to punch to the head, its just simply dangerous in a tournament to do so
ukatam 2 years ago
it maybe dangerous, look at the ko,s that andy hug does to his opponents with his hands in k1. just imagine if he didn,t wear gloves. but like ivomeleto said: the real weakness is the rules of kyokushin itself make the fighters lack the habbit to guard their heads, n it could be dangerous when aplied in a real fight, or mma nowadays.all i,m sayin is sooner or later every fighter ,re gonna have to adjust their style in different situation if they wanna survive in every batle.

OSU
