The lyrics are not bizarre at all. When it says, "Time we took the lampshades off" it's because it's referring to US as lamps as lights. Because this world especially at this time is dark and we as christians need to light peoples paths back to God.

God is loving and amazing, but He is also righteous in judging our failures. upbeat songs are great and really get people excited to worship, but slow, meaningful songs can convict, ex. @wenbinbin2010 I don't think they were referring to the song being upbeat. I think they were saying alot o fother christian bands don't make great music. The music is kind of so so. Hillsong's songs are breaking that Christian music barrier. Their music is something I would listen to outside of worship because it ahs the characteristics of a great song. The instrumentals and vocals alone make it better than most other Christian bands. Slow meaningful songs are amazing and usually are my favorite

Surely you can find refuge in your father, right?. We all have our preferences for songs, but the best songs are those which "speaks" to you, depicting his love for you.

I think you're looking at a lot of popular christian songs. There are dozen of different genres for christian music, in fact, I don't think there should be a genre called "Christian" because of how many different genres of christian songs there are. There are even heavy metal christian songs. Perhaps you are looking at all the pop or slower more popular songs? I love this song too.
