I used to see Brewer a lot when he was with Hound Dog & Ted from 70-75. He sure could get some awesome distortion out of his guitar & amp... I always felt he listened to a lot of Eddie Taylor and possibly Pat Hare in Memphis. Brewer told me that "West Memphis was kickin' wesley." He also was good friends with Memphis Minnie in the early 50's I believe.
Knew the guy who arranged this tour and heard the whole concert on tape. All of it is wonderful! The tape is probably lost by now. But it was early 1990s. And Hjalmar Kings really are great on a good night! Thanks a lot for this video. And RIP Brewer.
Mr. Phillips taught my buddy and me how to play the blues on guitar. He was like an uncle to me. I remember that '52 Telecaster, played it some too. So many stories, smiles and great music. God bless his and Miss Susie's memory. It's good to see Mr. Phillips again here.
My god finally a brewer phillips video! this is the real deal. there really arent to many videos of this bluesman so this is even more special. THANKS AGAIN!
