  • If black plays that opening you shouldn't care about the trap because it is a bad player anyway. Almost forgot, I also hate you for not knowing the notation.

  • OMG SINCE I'VE SEEN THIS VIDEO I WIN ALL MY GAMES

  • Chess notation or not I still liked the trap . Thanks mad cap . Oh yeah ,and you detractors should lighten up . O.K. ?

  • xaxaxxaaxax very funny :D

  • what if black plays f5, checkmate?

  • Why the hell are you making chess videos if you don't even know what a knight is called?

  • If he plays that he has... no brain actually... Kingside bishop and you move the knight? wtf...

  • well the trap is pretty much BS but i've used a good few times to catch players that are premoving in bullet. also, the resulting position is not that bad for white if black catches it, as white can fianchetto the K-side bishop w/ g3, bg2, and maybe play f4 to seize the center. white can also try to set up some more tactics w/ ideas of nf3-e5, and ne4-g5, maybe trying to sacrifice on e6.

  • Playing in this manner, hoping to spring cheap traps on the opponent, seldom works as well as you might hope. As is often the case, 4.Qe2 is really not a very good move. :/

  • Come on! That was a very easy to see trap. After having moved the queen to e2, only a very weak player wouldn't see that the next one will be Nd6...

  • Thats check retard

  • @habs878787 name one way the king can escape. clearly, you aren't very smart

  • useless commentating and basically useless trap Ive never had someone play those terrible moves as black

  • just take it down

  • what kind of player is going to miss that and you have wasted a move with your queen and blocked in the bishop.

  • @EinZweiDrei It is called the Smyslov defense, and very solid. Nothing wrong with ..Nd7 It prepares Nf6 and if white plays badly and exchanges blacks position is great. After Nf6 actually the best move is Ng5 which is very tricky..

  • can this trap work on anyone? hahahah... maybe on some retarted player... video should be called retarded caro kann chess trap

  • @madcapslaugh

Youre very sad and pathetic for posting this shit-stain video.. Im shocked you dont knwo the grid system of chess, and post a video of how to lay traps. But you are sad and pathetic, and i fucking hate you.

  • Qe2 is just a bad move, blocking off white bisshop.

  • nice trap

  • this trap is easy to see

  • i dont think that my comment is useful, but i think that this "combination" is not a trap .

i mean nobody would play b8-d7

and nobody will read this comment

but i hate you so.. =D

  • @jodigoimba It might interest you to know that the"nobody" you're referring to is Vassily Smyslov, whom this variation of the Caro-Kann is named for,so much for unplayable :P.

  • so yea, lets get that kingside bishop to F6. Oh wait, he moved the knight? ok ok, you've lost me.

  • nice mate, unfortunately, it would only work on bullet games. love the vid.

  • madcapslaugh your arguments and comebacks are as weak as your chess knowledge-non-existent! People point out your stupidity and obvious mistakes and you only wish you were as coolas them?! I've heard you talk about jrobichess being your inspiration for your videos, but if that were true you wouldn't make mistake after mistake and continually call a knight a bishop! You are obviously so lonely you feel posting these moronic chess craps I mean chess traps you will finally have someone talk to you!

  • @beatcm9k

Dude its just a fucking chess video on youtube. There's no reason to be a dick. Use it for blitz.

  • It's a rather interesting mate, but typically found in a variant of chess called Bughouse. This mate can simply be stopped by pushing e6. I wouldn't call this a trap, as much as it would just be a crap shoot. If you played these lines, and it went unsuccessfully, I think you would eventually be boned for qe2, as it stops developing whites King side pieces.

  • Mate is nice but Qe2 is not a good move at all.

1.19 - "if he plays that!!" reminded me an old Turkish saying: "if my aunt had a beard she would have been my uncle"

Only if u are playing under 1000 level such a trap may work.

  • @denizaykin jeff sarwer fell for this one

  • Only a beginner would fall for that one.

  • @turlough06 Jeff Sarwer fell for this one

  • @turlough06 No I saw grandmasters falling for this trap getting mated in a few moves :|

  • Thanks for the video, but you made a couple mistakes there... it can't be a book move or yeah it's checkmate..

  • "book" moves rarely allow check mate from your opponent next move :) also, it's his king side knight

  • that was soooooo noobs././ it willhappen if your oponent is a beginer././ wakz././

  • at 0:50 black knight to d7 is very unlikely, it blocks the white bishop and you rarely move the knight in an inferior position. interesting though, makes you pay more attention to those pawn pinnings with queen

  • How can you call Ng-f6 the normal bookmove when it leads to mate in one? The normal bookmove is e6. Ng-f6 is a natural developing move

  • i don't think e2 is a good spot for white's queen cause it blocks in the bishop on f1. a good trap will be a good move regardless of whether your opponent falls for it.

  • lol. you said "king side bishop" but it`s "king side knight"

  • most of this "trap videos" are useless only a beginner would make such s t u p i d moves

  • i actually did this to somebody in a correspondance game (3 days per move) it was so random that they didnt notice it. i was better than them and figured i could salvage qe7 if they played correctly. little risk, big reward i figured as set my stupid trap.

  • *qe2

  • yo tampoco creo que el hacer un "mal video" sea algo como para machacar al muchacho como e visto un comentario que parece ser de un verdadero retrazad@. mejor enseñen lo que saben en una manera instructiva jodanse los que joden

  • That happens if you play chess with a beginner who learn chess 2 minutes ago.

  • although this video isn't perfect and narration is fairly bad, you can't blame the guy for trying. this will help his game and it will help him learn notation. if you don't like it then rate less stars, or write constructive criticism, but don't get mean.

  • Actually, the knight can fork the most pieces on the board because it can theoretically attack 8 squares at once.

  • Haha, seriously. If you're into chess, and make videos. You should be able to name the squares without having to refer to the side of the board. It's not that difficult to learn them. You obviously need to spend more time with your studies and less time trying to get easy wins over beggining chess players so you can feel a moment of superiority.

  • STOP STUTTERING YOU ARE A RETARD

  • THIS VIDEO ABSOLUTELY SUCKS. i AM AN EXPERT RATED CHESS PLAYER WITH THE USCF AND IM SURE ALL OF THE OTHER MEMBERS WOULD AGREE. THIS GUY DOES NOT EVEN KNOW HOW TO USE CHESS NOTATION. HE IS MIXING ALGEBRAIC WITH DESCRIPTIVE NOTATION AND IS HORRIBLE AT DOING IT. e6 WOULD STOP THIS ENTIRE JUNK OF A TRAP. PLEASE STOP THIS MAN111111111

  • @smisanig1 whats your rating?

  • @Doublemac88 lm a little above 2000 ELO

  • @smisanig1 you're lucky my friend. I'm 14 and my ELO is only just above 1700. I guess we can't all be Bobby Fischer though...

  • The horsey guy is called a knight, not a bishop.

  • @FungoLingo NOW THAT was great analysis and freakin' funny!

  • i dont think that a cheack mate the pond can take the knight

  • If the pond takes the knight, the king is exposed to the white's queen. Therefor the pond cannot take the knight.

  • :D:D:D LMFAO

  • Awful video. 1 star.

  • Hi, I'm in a class that teaches us how to play chess. Our first assignment is to pick an opening move & list the first five moves of white & black & I want to use this one. So can you tell me the first five moves of both please?

  • Qe2 is an absolutely useless move. It's a common smothered mate motiff but in that position you should never play Qe2- you waste a move and block in your light squared bishop. Forcing yourself to fianchetto the bishop (which is slow here)

  • that block pawn take the knight

  • RETARD NO!

  • Actually, not really.. if you haven't noticed, the queen is an extremely flexible piece, capable of controlling a lot of squares. Qe2 holds grasp of some key central squares to compensate for the bishop being able to develop. It also sets the trapping line.

  • Queen's don't do the work of pieces. Why use the queen as a bishop or rook when you have rooks for that. Qe2 is a pointless move and e6 just halts this entire trapping line in place and black is fine.

  • wut r u talking about?? the queen is just a bishop/rook hybrid..

  • Exactly, she has the combined powers of both making her the most powerful piece on the board which affects the most squares at any time with the ability to fork the most pieces at one time. Using a queen as a bishop or a rook when you have both to do those jobs respectively, why use her as one. Use a Queen like a Queen and a Rook like a Rook.

    Pretty basic chess.

  • I agree, you should use the queen to her fullest ability, but then again, in some situations, it's only necessary to use half of her ability. it's basically like having an extra bishop or rook.

  • does 5Qe2 have value besides as a trap?

  • I don't think so. It's just an awful move that hinders development. And you're also lining up your K and Q (o.O)

  • Black can easily refute Qe2 with ...e6.

  • Keres Paul:d

  • Comment removed

  • Ah, you are from Estonia. That explains the comment.

  • dude whats ur rating?

u know that 1700+ u need to know the names of the scares peace out

  • deep analysis!

  • ngek????

  • pesky knight!

  • kingside bishop... also known as a knight

  • lol yeah

  • @eastweymouthchris

I had to laugh to mad caps laugh when I read this

  • Interesting. Good video, some trouble with piece names but it's fine as you can still understand the trap. ^^

  • these traps are not going to work if you play with more than 1600 ELO player. Basically, these traps are just for amatures.

  • i thing u should read a chess book for begginers first and study carefully teh chess notation unit.then we can talk about traps.

  • only if you promise to teach me to be as cool as you

  • That was the best come back ever :')

  • lol, that was great, i didnt know anyone read all these comments

  • @madcapslaugh nice

  • @madcapslaugh

He's right. You should be learning chess notation first before doing videos. Kinda spoils the fun.

  • @mohakmehta yes chess notation will add polish but does it actually detract from the tech ... resoundingly NO .

But I will say to you monsewer(just joking)that most of these folks watching the video noticed that you arenot used to chess notation and sometimes people want what they want . Sad but true .

  • I think you should read a book and learn how to spell correctly.

    it is think not thing

    beginners not begginers

    the not teh

and the "T" in then is suppose to be capitalize because you placed a period before then and would it kill you to spell out "you" instead of using the letter "u".

  • My comment was for spirogreco. I also want to say that your chess videos helped me improved a bit.

  • @rsmasterkeith Your comments, too, are littered with ugly grammatical errors, and infused with glaring logical inconsistency. There is an English expression which says that people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones, meaning that if you're not sure that you're on entirely terra firma with regards your own literary prowess, which you're not, you should refrain from chastising others on theirs.

  • @spirosgreco So here's greco will teach us how to study carefully "teh" chess notation unit.

    Where shall I begin?

Why if I understood perfectly, you cannot understand?

I think you are an idiot :)

  • @spirosgreco I totaly agree.....I could barley understand this idiot....learn to speak

  • @spirosgreco I think you should take a spelling class for beginners before making comments on YouTube :)

  • you are my hero

  • i don't think this trap would work..black would very likely just move the king pawn

  • I had a similar checkmate yesterday xD

  • See Bobby Fischer games for great traps.

  • are there any games that come to mind

  • That is not a trap, that is a black mistake, a trap is something more dificult to see it.

  • thanks for the comment, i admit there is no big surprise here, so i guess just take it for what its worth, a potential blunder to keep in mind when playing as black

  • Actually i felt down once in a game, by the way can you tell me how do you made the videos, i mean with what programs, im teaching some kids how to play and the videos are just awsome but i want to make it in spanish wich is my lenguage.

  • so i have a macbook, and im using the program sigma chess 6.1 to play chess, then the program ScreenRecord, to record the chessboard, and i use quicktime pro to convert the videos to mp4's , then i upload to youtube, jrobichess does it on a windows xp computer and has posts about how to do it

  • Ok thanks i will search for jrobichess, and where do you play or teach chess?

  • before about a month ago, i hadnt played a game of chess in forever, i saw jrobi's chess videos and thought it would be a great way to learn chess drills, much better then what i had tried before, mainly with a book and a real board. i play on facebook, and on my cellphone, and if i get a chance on shabbas,

  • Still a good video.

  • well its good as black to seen this, or else he will fall into it
