We had an rugby player in our american football team. He was from new zealand and won some trophies there. He played one year before he quit - because it was to hard. You can not compare those 2 sports the hits in rugby can only as hard as a human can stand it. A kick off in football done by rugby players will not work. Sprint 60 yards and collide. I played rugby as well football (american). Physically = tough! In football the helmet is often use as a weapon and when it makes contact with ribs, it's hurt!

In HS, my football team played rugby in one season... we went undefeated! So, i think that an excellent football player can be transformed into a decent rugby player: tackle, passing the ball laterally or backwards, scrums... but I don't think a rugby player could catch a ball in motion or pass forward!
