OLEDS wear out quicker than other technology, LCDs last for a very long time as long as the backlight is replaced every few years.

Traditional LCDs yes, but, newer LCDs that have LED backlight don't have that problem.

Although LEDs do have a longer lifespan than cold cathode lighting they do eventually wear out and in fact get dimmer pretty early in their lifespan.
Great explanation. Are there any mainstream mobile devices already using this tech? The battery would probably last much longer.
