As someone who worked with Big Al for 10 years it offends me that Warner Bros, who he released Mr Jones, Touch Me and Bring It On Home, thru, never released an album, but at the same time he was nominated for awards by both the Academy of Country Music & Billboard Magazine in 1979. It took him until 2002 to appear on the Grand Ole Opry. He should have been a superstar. In England and much of Europe he was. He was not only a brilliant songwriter and excellent entertainer but was a gentleman.
One of the truly great voices to ever sing a song.Big Al started off in R&B,had some success, then switched over to Country, where he should've been a superstar, but the Industry didnt really back him,or promote him correctly.Every bit as good as Charlie Pride,he just didnt get the exposure.
