@thescoutingsniper no, the genre wouldn't have to be renamed, what defines the genre would be changed to allow for this song. Thing is, it all becomes irrelevant in the end. Genres are only useful for finding and categorising things that are similar. Who's to day what song fits into what genre, in the long run all it does is create arguments. Stick with what you believe and don't impose it on others, we'll all be happier :)

Hey guys, noticed there was a lot of talk about genre and couldn't help but put a little in. I'm 17 and studying a lot of English units at school, and we're currently studying genre theory. I came across a quote that usually ends discussions about genre that would be relevant here: "every new addition to a genre changes the genre as a whole." What I believe happened here is that this new song changed the genre of dubstyle, because it has multiple aspects of this genre.

@TheScoutingSniper They are both real, duh. Dubstyle is the fusion of the genres. Headhunterz obviously comes from a more HS background so his track has more HS elements, whereas I come from dubstep so mine has more dubstep elements. His has the dubstep beat with a hardstyle kick, but not much of a sub drop. It also has a straight hardstyle section. Mine doesnt use the HS kick except for the straight hardstyle section, and has a more subby drop.

We just chose different elements of each genre.
