It's dead serious and academic-- maybe even a bit pretentious-- but you have to hear him call out Strictly Rhythm and Madonna and tell anecdotes about The Loft in New York circa 1992

@alanjireland this is Minimal, way better than the current state of dubstep. Dubstep is the new D&B, stuck in a certain rhythmic cadence, that all dub producers ties to fit in, which makes it too one dimensional, and fade orientate. Basically dub is a minor sub division of House that will not last even as long as D&B. Its funny how people try to rename the same thing every ten years or so, minimal = ambient, trance = progressive. Current Trance is nothing more than pop garbage.

If you are on about Dubstep then listen to Mount Kimbie, Burial, FaltyDL, Mala, Kode9, King Cannibal, Lorn and tell me if you still think they are trying to fit into the "certain rhythmic cadence." Not every Dubstep producer makes the "robot getting raped sound" Skrillex loves to spew out.

@ray184566 I have albums from all of these artist, some I consider dubstep, some I don't. I have been listen to electronic music for a very long time. Every few years new genera's are create just repackage and sell a sound that has been around already. That is what I see a lot today with dubstep. I see a lot of young ppl in their 20s, just now getting into electronic music, and they call everything new, dubstep. I don't get caught up in labeling most music. Good music is good music.
