@martynarome Sometimes, a person can just beome so incredibly important to a person, without them even wanting to, that gender and sexuality lose their significance. In my opinion, John's sexuality does not really matter, the strenght of his feelings towards Sherlock do. And he's very possessive, caring and jealous when it comes to that guy, as is Sherlock himself. They NEED each other.

And after all, Irene's gay and still loves Sherlock. So why can't John be straight and fall for him?

It's like their friendship represents the ideal harmony that everyone would like to have with another person. They're all right like this, not as a romantic couple. Indeed they need each other, John in some way saved Sherlock from his sociopath state and Sherlock saved John from his loneliness.

Well,I think Irene said she's gay to John only to protect herself from any human feeling.

@martynarome That's just a matter of personal opinion then, I guess :) To me, Irene Adler is one of the most intelligent characters on the show, and unlike Sherlock, she knows a LOT about interpersonal relationships. That's why I interpret the whole 'gay, not gay, look at us both' conversation as her basically telling John that even though both of them like women, it does not mean that they can't fall for Sherlock ;) Like I said - matter of opinion.

I can see Sherlock having sex with Irene. He seems very curious and intrigued when interacting with her, and willing to try who is more dominant in the end. Like two predators, really - and he could also prove Mycroft wrong.

Still, for a relationship, the two of them are way too similar to each other. THAT's why I ship John/Sherlock - because I think someone like him, with a big heart, dry humor and a minor addiction to adrenaline would be perfect to deal with that brilliant, annoying asshole :3
