Saturn Transmission Line Pressure Control Solenoid Replaceme

i have a 95 sl1 dose it have these solenoids? and would thay cause it to hang in fist gear at times...but i can turn the car off and back on and it will go normal do thank this is my problem please respond thank you

@Gavin64254 I’m not sure about the ‘95’s. If it resets after a power cycle that tells me it might not be a failed solenoid, but something else. You can probably take it to a shop and have the problem diagnosed for $100.

how do you know which solenoid to replace? are they all the same? why not change all of them at once, since you have everything taken apart?

was that soleanoid that you replaced for the slamming in gear? or is there a specific solenoid that needs to be changed for that?

@tspoof do you think i can just pull up on it?, and if worst comes to worse use a crobar to break it out and replace the whole electrical connector and wires?

@omarG19100 I’m not sure I can be of much help there. If the screw is stripped it should just be a matter of pulling the old one out and replacing it. With the screw out, the electrical connector should come right out.

@tspoof i changed the line pressure solenaoid but now it slipps when i gas pass 30. when tht happens the engine light comes on. so i took it to autozone and they tested it. i forgot the codes but it said it cant read the fourth gear, low fluids, or dead tranny. any ideas? i replaced the solenoid just like you did. SO WHAT GIVES?

did u take both nuts off the tranny mount or jus the one closetest to the valve body, and i wanna change solanoid for the (D). can u tell me which one is it?

can you show the procedure to get your reverse back once it`s gone, replacing and retorquing that nut under th side cove?

I have a 2001 Saturn SL1. It has the classic "reverse slam", BUT it also slams into each gear. I also hear a "whirling" noise when I slow down to stop. Will replacing the PCS solve my problem?

Would higher than normal line pressure cause a Skippy whining sound. Especially when making left turns? Is that why you are replacing that solenoid?

hey i have a 1992 saturn sc2 my transmission shift fine intell it down shift from 4 to 3rd gear and then it down shift from 3rd to 2nd and i wont shift no more when it stuck in 2nd the check engine lights comes on and on the other side of the dash it say shift to 2nd what to you think the problem is?

replaced my valve body and my tranns still dont shift. do I need to relearn (manual shift) until computer learns new valve? what solenoid is the pressure valve? how do i know?

Hi i have a 2002 Saturn autoamtic with around 75,000 miles on it. Working fine until the other day i started it to take to the store and it all of a sudden started jam shifting really hard when shifting gears. Shifts hard when going from park to drive, park to reverse, or even when slowing down to stop at a redlight, etc. Was wondering if anyone knew what the problem could be...theres many different senerios on the web, that it could either be the PC solenoid, bad transmission filter,etc. HELP!

is this what they call a PCC solenoid? what was the problem with your car before fixing it? I have a 2000 sl1, It has the SLAM issue, feels like a race car when it shifts and thats on every gear, I will be replacing the Valve body but someone also said it could be the PCC solenoid. Any help will be appreciated.

@KieroTakoBell I’ve seen them referred to as pressure control solenoids and line pressure solenoids. If what the “PCC solenoid” you are referring to is in the throttle body then yes, they are all the same thing.

Excellent video. Took care of gear slap in reverse and hard shifting in OD. Took about 2 hours without rushing. Watch the video a couple times. It wil save you lots of time later. Car shifts great now, even when using cruise contol. Thanks so much.

Good job outlning the steps involved. Im getting an estimate for a solenoid replacement tomorrow on my Mistubishi Montero Sport from a dealer. This gives me an idea of what is involved even though the configuration is certainly different.

Which solenoid is for the one for reverse? I haven't been able to find a schematic for it anywhere. Nice video, BTW. Don't you think it'd be a good idea to keep the computer energized when you pull the battery? Here in CA the cars require extensive drive cycles after the batt is disconnected before they can be smog checked.

I'm curious if this is the same tranny used in a 2005 Monte Carlo. I pulled a P1811 DTC and it's jerking off idle. Replacement looks rather straightforward, but haven't been able to find anything regarding the Monte Carlo. Where did you order the solenoid?

Have I missed something? Why did the pressure control solenoid need replacing, and what symptoms are possible when the pressure control solenoid is defective? I have a Ford 4r70w trans with a shift problem and I'm looking for possible causes. After putting it in reverse and then into drive, it wants to stick in first gear and not shift into second. I have to take my foot of the throttle and let the rpm drop down to idle, then it drops into second. It only happens after being in reverse.

Good video. How much more or less difficult is it to remove the entire valvebody assembly from the tranny? I believe my 96 SL2 has a bad valvebody (loses all gears but 1st after driving about 1 hour) and I might buy a rebuilt one from eBay later in the spring.
