  • Does that pollute the water? Could you drink it after it has been dipped in the cup?

  • @reddgsx I think it's very clearly stated in the video that it does pollute the water, with carbon dioxide. As for drinking it, yes you could, I mean nobody's gonna hold you back.

  • @Maracachucho

Well I think they use water to douse the plastic out, and then I imagine they separate it somehow.

  • @bariguy87 yeah the idea is to dump the co2 from the air into the water. I'm not sure what impact this may have, but it's certainly not gonna be global warming.

  • @Maracachucho

Well I'm sure the scientists have thought about that. I doubt they intend to just release the water into the main water system. Course, you could technically create some sort of fuel I think. Carbon and Hydrogen make fuel once you put them together and take out the oxygen

  • @bariguy87 Taking out the oxygen requires more energy than you're gonna get out of it. As for throwing the used water to the sewers I'm not sure man, I mean co2 in huge quantities is bad for the atmosphere because of the greenhouse effect, but that shouldn't be a problem for water right? I mean as long as the oxygen levels stay the same the fish aren't going to drown. Or that's what I would hope.

  • @Maracachucho

No, i meant fuel as in for cars to buy us more time until we create more efficient fuel. Did they say throw it in the sewers though?

  • @bariguy87 No I don't think they did, I'll just wait for a follow up report to see what they make out of all this.

  • @Maracachucho

Well we shall see then, here's to crossed fingers and hope

  • This is not good enough as you still need to store the CO2.

  • Would it not be cheaper, more efficient, economically viable and to be frank less of an eyesoar just to plant REAL trees?

  • @myslmysl No I do not think it would not be more efficient, we currently produce 72 million cars A DAY! Apparently to keep up with today's level of pollution we would only need to produce TEN million of the artificial trees, and the fact that these trees take in more carbon dioxide than real trees and do not even need to grow they are much more efficient. As for an eyesore, it's not about looks it's about taking care of this only planet we have, I would gladly have one in my back yard x]

  • @SilkyScreen Yes, they are more efficient comparing size versus CO2 capture but cost effective it is not. To produce 1 of those artificial "trees" will be more costly then planting of a 1000 trees. The other minus is they will not be a part of a viable ecosystem that natural trees are a cornerstone for. A working ecosystem provides more ad on value by itself by sustaining wildlife and purify water and air from pollutants, these artificial "trees" will only provide capture of CO2.

  • CO2 is not a pollution. Eco-fascists wage war on humanity and mother nature. FACT.

  • I can't wait until we can make this the size of a city block. Sequestering until we return to pre industrial revolution levels.

  • Lol wtf did I see Over there in the "Suggestions"?????>>>>

  • no flood no drought, best just enough water in soil for grass to grow.

    NW Australia has

huge evaporation and huge dry rivers and lakes.

Tides are up to 12m. Evaporation is up to 4m per year

Huge 12m tidal erosion can revive old dry once mighty rivers, creeks and lakes,

desalinate the country and change deserts to rain forests to provide more rain across Australia and also in dry season.

more energy + food + land + water + cooler climate without extremes.

    see: mitic CLIMATE ENGINEERING

  • This is great It looks promising

  • two words. Made in Brooklyn!

  • @hydra8888 Thats three....

  • @Th3K00lCj One too many? Cheers!

  • @Th3K00lCj lol :D

  • I hate damage control, rather preventative action.

  • So if this works, we're not gonna have any trees in the world except in place like botanic gardens?

  • @TheKintou

    ...who said that?

    of course not.....

  • Wouldn't it be simpler to plant real trees ?

You have the initial cost of planting, they generally take care of themselves without further energy being put in, not only do they collect CO2, they produce Oxygen.

With the artificial trees you need to supply energy, then to drill into the underground storage you need more energy, then to pump the CO2 down the holes you need yet more energy, also if the ground is unsuitable in the area of the trees for storage, it has to be transported.

  • @allseeingeyes2008 Real trees release most of the CO2 they absorb at night, and all of it when they die, so they would only really be effective in a situation where the volume of plant matter was constantly and vastly increasing, which, as we all know is not going to happen in this planet anymore.

  • great - you can prodiuce plenty of sparkling mineral water with it ...:-D

  • Good fuel source. Can replace bio fuels, giving more growing land.

The collected CO2 can be reused as fuel, burned, re collected, made into fuel, burned. etc. The same trick that made bio fuel so nice on paper. You don' t add to CO2, just use what was in the air a few months earlier.

Will help conserve oil for material production rather than fuel.

    Perhaps profitable?

  • we need to fund this

  • Pretty good stuff!! However, the world should still look for energy efficient machines.

  • Lol and I thought religous people were void of all reason, you people who argue human caused climate change are even worse!

There is quite obviously human caused climate change. The Earth undergoes several drastic climate changes in the geologic record, quite often in fact. However, none of them happen as quickly as it is happening today.

I don't know where you are getting your information but it is wrong.

  • This was one of the most disturbing programmes I have watched for a long time.

I have never seen so many blatant and ourright lies in the space of one hour on a National Television documentary.

There is no man-made climate change.

    Wake up!

  • So you criticise me for not disclosing proof...which I never claimed to by the way...with an argument for belief instead.

I see what you did there.

Why dont you try checking the facts about the climate, temperature, CO2, hurricanes, sea levels, animal populations, glaciers on INDEPENDENT websites and information sources...like i have before you start tell me about how prophets are a better argument.

  • i wanted my comments to be seen....coz i only understand that islam is a religion got answers to every single climate changetemperature, CO2, hurricanes, sea levels, animal populations and man mae wars etcs which were mentioned 1400 yearsago ok fluck....one coincidence but not every single thing can be coincidance....i still think with my brain...and with facts.....only conclusion is islam....but it will be at the end of universe times

  • Just say. You were born into another family who have totally opposite beliefs to what u believe today. You would not have acknowledge Allah at all. Interesting. I think so.

  • What makes u say this. And what makes your information correct.

  • my information......everything is created and has a manual, so if you say ur manual is insufficent....how can you say hindu who r peace makers christian who believe not to drink and kill and jewish..how about islam barbaric religion which is at its fastest growning religion.yet ...its know for barbaric.....of course them ppl who convert meet reality from koran A destination....information.....try dr zakir naik on google he will answer you common question aganisnt islam trust me just TRY

  • @medzedz

    yes...there is...

  • Science answers everything!

  • @Gellis2009 But the science also had destroyed everything...

  • @andreguernieri nature has destroyed more than science ever could.

  • Well, that doesn't really make a nice sight..

Great technology though, that's for sure.

  • the trees can be placed anywhere, so they can be on top of houses in cities that already are ygly, etc. and 60 million trees won't take up much space either ;)

  • @OTVF we can build them the size of a city block. sequestering millions of tons a day. When you put it on your house, where is it going to be sequestered?

  • @hydra8888

A water bottle... turns into carbonized water. ^^... to make soda, and all. xD

  • @PedrocasMS ? This isn't related to the subject. Doesn't the water have to be carbonized before the water is placed in the bottle?

  • @hydra8888

was just kinda kiding about it. ^^... but yeah, you only need a carbonization "machine", cause the reagents for carbonated water are just water and carbon dioxide under pressure. (therefore the, "put a bottle and drink 7up" xD )

As I recall they're planning to put it into "storage containers".. and then put it beneath the ocean (as it as a unique ability of isolating the carbon which has been done for mileniums..) but they could use it to make soda also. ^^

  • @PedrocasMS store carbon dioxide deep underground. The carbon dioxide bleaches coral reefs. Reducing hydrogen peroxide & oxygen kills plant & fish life. Oceans are the worst place to store it. They didn't invent the idea.
