This is both my most hated and favourite stage, most hated for Maruyama being a total dick here, and favourite for the graphically amazing boss at the top.
Also Tower Segment gives me bad memories of Brave Fence Musashi's retreating segment (Running from Dark Lumina while he destroys the tower stairway while you climb a tower to escape from him)
I played Dynamite Headdy before Brave Fencer Musashi though, but still bad memories...
Oh man, I though this was a new video, but I remembered half-through that I'd passed out watching this the night it was posted. That's what I get for pulling all-nighters.
Two things though. One, I love this Key Master. I do things different, because I just keep moving to the side when the boss is swinging its arms around. Never get hit, or you might have to jump the one arm only.
And two, on DC. Gurren Lagann? Really now? Would've never guessed. That show's nuts. :x
Inserting a Utena clip- beyond awesome. Better yet, if you'd edited the video to have Absolute Destiny Apocalypse looping in the background all the way through the fight, that would have made you the best person on the internet.
Oh, BTW, if this is Treasure month, what's the chance of Sin and Punishment coming up? I'd imagine that game would be an interesting LP, if just for the constant mindscrew.
Haha, that wouldn't have been a bad idea, although then I would have had to do the commentary in post. I'm definitely going to do another Utena edit later on. Not telling where it'll be, but I'm interested in hearing people's guesses.
Sin and Punishment? I could LP it if I really put my mind to it, but I've never gotten into it. I really prefer Treasure's cartoony games. After this I'm planning on doing Silhouette Mirage and Stretch Panic, but I'm not sure in what order.
No, you'd really have to do that in screenshot form--it's way too long and meandering to do in a video. Besides, finding out what the ending was completely killed any desire for me to finish the game.
I absolutely love that boss fight. That was one of the few boss fights that when i was younger struck me as being pretty epic. The music is awesome too. i could listen to it all day and never get tired of it. I always hated the main boss of the next level though. Many a frustrated ARG were heard through the house those days.
This video is officially my favorite video of all time now. You and DC have both made Utena references that I've seen, but this wins. Bravo, especially since Utena is so incredibly well done on so many levels.
The one that comes to mind is during his Civilization LP (a year ago, god...), and since I've never seen Utena, I'm sure I've missed a few of them. But my ex was into it... Oh was she into it...
He's actually more into anime than I am, but I think his favorite is Gurren Lagann. We've never actually seen Rozen Maiden, I just listen to ALI PROJECT a lot :p
I haven't even played this game and just watching this I love it. It's so creative and brilliant. Why was there no sequel? Did they run out of ideas? Is that possible?
Back in the day, Treasure NEVER made sequels. Their entire company was founded on how they disliked working for Konami and their endless sequels. Nowadays, they've gone through and made sequels to a lot of their games (the Heroes games, Bangai-O and Sin and Punishment), so I'm really hoping they decide to do something with Dynamite Headdy as well. And/or Silhouete Mirage. I'd love that.
I should note that while they had a strict (and I felt, somewhat idiotic) "no sequels" policy, Gunstar Heroes got a spiritual sequel in Alien Soldier, which everyone would play.
YEARS later, they released Gunstar Super Heroes for the GBA, and it was decent. Everyone should look at that, too.
I actually really really like Gunstar Super Heroes, especially its whole "plot expanding on itself after several playthroughs" thing. It was really well done and it actually hooked me more than the original did.
I'd really like to see them make a Silhouette Mirage remake/sequel with that sort of structure.
That fucking helicopter stage on Hard mode took me WEEKS. It felt soooo good to have it done, but it was awful to actually play. Try using the L and R buttons to turn the helicopter around, it actually does matter when you're in close quarters.

Revolutionary Girl Utena:The Rose Bride.
It's an old anime.
She references it in the description for this vid when she says kill "the rose bride."

I think I heard a voice when you beat the boss, but I can't make out what it said. Sounded like it came from the game.
But if it said what I THINK it said, I'm going to die of laughter.
MelodyMora 2 years ago
I'm pretty sure it said "I cannot believe it". The other bosses said it too, upon rewatching, but it's harder to notice.

The music for on the sky/Spinderella is about my favourite tune from the entire Headdy soundtrack.
And speaking of attacking Buoh I used to think I WAS attacking him as a kid. For whatever reason I couldn't tell the difference between him and Bino.
