I am beyond ecstatic to have found that a clip of this classic has survived. Of the literally hundreds of Lawrence Welk recordings, this is far and away his masterpiece. Welk always had the cream of the crop in terms of players and vocalists, and this is indeed a tremendous tribute to the greatness of Frank Scott and a fitting farewell for the great Jerry Burke. Welk's arrangements were sublime and this is truly one of the greatest instrumentals of the 20th century. He is greatly missed.
@MikeBlitzMag I too am beyond ecstatic to find this classic in Youtube. I had in the 60's an LP with it by the great Claus Ogerman, but wow! I haven't seen my record for ages. Finally I hear it! Brings me lots of memories!!!
One of the the ultimate feel good songs that brings me back to a simpler, better time. One thing for sure though... you'll never see the brothers on Soul Train :)
I wonder how famous Buddy would have been if had played with some popular rock or country band as the lead guitar player? He is good. I collected most of his LPs after watching these videos. I didn't pay much attention to him when he was on television back in the 50's and 60's. I was into country and rock. I knew who he was but that was about it. Wish I could do that over.
Thanks for posting this. Have it on an LP in stereo even.
This number was a part of Jerry Burke's Lawrence Welk Show swansong. Taped on January the 16th 1965 at ABC's Prospect lot in Los Angeles, Burke died a little less than one month later at St. John's Hospital in Santa Monica of kidney and liver ailments due to years of hard drinking. He was only 53 years old and apparently a very nice, let alone talented, man.
I thought the 1964-1966 seasons were taped at the Hollywood Palace/El Capitan Theater (Home of the TV Show Hollywood Palace and current home of The Jimmy Kimmel Show) while the ABC studios were being converted for color TV.
Was Frank Scott your father? If so he was a greatly talented man whom I admired deeply. I still listen to Frank's recordings nearly every week. If Burke or one of the others was your father then they were great talents as well. Either way, my condolences for your loss. Just know these guys were admired by many.
hahaha this song just brings my spirits up!! and hunger too. hmmmm, I think I should compose my own song and it will be call peanut butter and bananas. ^_^
This is the theme song of the Dennis Prager Show Happiness Hour which is on KRLA radio every Friday from 1:00- 2:00. It's a feel good song and a feel good show. No, I don't work for the station. Happy people make the world a better place and generally speaking, unhappy people don't.
Life was simpler and richer then. Not perfect, just better.

Jerry Burke Never Appeared In Color, With The Band Since 1934
On The Show From 1955 - 1965 When It Turned To Color In The Fall
If He Lived Longer He Would Have Been In Color How Uncanny That He Died
In January Before Color Came To The Welk Show???????

That would've made a great game show theme. This song does sound like a 1960s game show theme like To Tell The Truth or Password.

y'know, I have always preferred Jerry Burke over that other guy they replaced him with.

@Garr1984 I'm with you on that, Gar. Jerry was superior to Bob, in my opinion.
