it was a genius desicion actually on apple's part.

think about it; if there was a camera on the new ipod touch, everyone would buy that because then it's the same exact thing as an iphone without the phone. and it was a good idea to put camera and video- (and radio) on the new nano 6g, because the sales on that are now going to go up. you've got to keep all of the products semi- level in sales, or else a product will totally fail.

Yeah, your right also, it just depends on what you think, but in my opinion I would love the ipod touch to have a camera because I am a developer and I could make some cool apps using that functionality. You are right though about keeping all sales level or your company might collapse on itself!

thats right! but you forgot to mention that.... this iphone and ipod touch are being re-realesed with a new look next year and this may include major upgrades including camera featres. thats mac developers confrence i think.

yeah I know I forgot to mention some stuff, but they might come out with a new ipod touch with camera at the october event, but we will have to wait and see!

They should of put a camera on the ipod touch 3rd gen and make it lower just like the iphone 3G Im disappointed that it didnt got a camera. I would of sold my ipod touch 1st gen if the ipod touch 3rd gen got a camera but since it didnt got a camera im keeping my ipod touch 1st gen

Yeah, you can use skype with most mics, but if you buy the new ipod touch, it comes with a brand new set of headphones, that has a mic and other stuff on it!

i think a lot of people woudnt mind pitching in another 20$ when their already gonna pay 200 for the touch. if they at least put a 2mp or even a 1mp, im sure people woudnt mind how bad resolution. at least it would have a camera

We have to understand Apple strategy. They wanted to lower the price. If the would have started to fit a camera in that thing, it would have cost a lot of time and money to realize. Just reading the comments here, if it would have been a shitty camera, people would be blahbling about how crappy it is for the price. :)

well they have to understand a few things

-people wouldnt mind pitching in another 20 or 30 more dollars when theyre already gonna pay like 200$

-3mp or even 2 is enuf for a ipod/cellphone

-if they can fit a camera in nano, why not touch?

-miscrosoft is gonna dominate them with zune hd unless they somehow fight back something worth

I just read an article that says, there is enough space for the camera in the new device, it just wasn't put in, and if apple where to give a camera, they would have it like 3-5 mega pixels, because it doesn't cost them much for a good camera(like the one in a 3gs)! And I understand what your saying, people would say its quality was bad, but apple would put a pretty good camera in that thing, if they do!

what REALLY screwed me up is the fact that they actually REDUCED the battery life on audio from 36 hours on the 2nd gen to 30 hour
