  • Love this sings, great animation too. :) Annie Ross is playing live in Scotland this month to celebrate the premiere of a film about her life at the Glasgow Film Festival. :)

    ~Peace

  • Annie ross is the Queen of Scottish jazz, a rare talent who was loved by Ella, dated Lenny Bruce, appeared in theatre in London and on Broadway as well as Hollywood movies. At 81 she still regularly performs live at the Metropolitan in NYC.

This is a great animation for a unique piece!

  • Lvoe! Forgot about this one!

  • Way prefer the Annie Ross version at the start of Deconstructing Harry (Woody Allen).

  • I love the little insane laugh at the end XD

  • brilliant vocal rendition....bought this in 1967....

  • Briliant!! This is my first introduction to Annie Ross, couldn't be better :D

  • tremendous, i should've known this was a standard. i had only heard the joni mitchell version, which i love, but this one is also great and i love it plus the cartoon is swell

  • that was real fun.

  • awww I ADORE this vid, it's so sincere...and thank god the alter ego at the end is a ginger-haired woman, I'd have been disappointed with ANYTHING else

    x

  • lol ok ur cartoon was so funny!! i loved wen the doctor bailed

  • Brilliant indeed... kept me laughing all the way through.

  • Hahaha! Wathing...

  • Brilliant stuff!!! I'm in awe..

  • great song with a great cartoon to boot !

  • very creative, 5 stars to you.....!1!

  • @watson2078 thanks for the info! it's impressive!

    here I found a version:

    hardbop.tripod.com/music_files/043gray.mp3

    hope it helps :)

  • its a different twist (sorry) but i like joni purely for the sense of humor injected but ido like the annie

  • Great treatment of a great recording. Thanks.

And I'm a big Joni Mitchell fan, but anybody who thinks Joni's version tops Ross is ... well .... "twisted!"

  • That was so funny that I had trouble focusing on the song!

  • Incredible to think it the vocal matches the saxophone note for note, syllable for syllable.

  • @watson2078 can you send me the link for the original version with the sax? I'd knew it was like that but never heard it. Thanks!

  • @sisenioritoquerido I can't find a version but the song you want is Wardell Gray's "Twisted"

  • Awesome. So powerful!

  • jjmeowmeow, gushes l33t to disrespect the artist in all caps. Shame on you. Annie wrote this beautiful thing, and stuck true to the saxophone solo, unlike Joni, who was never a serious jazz artist, and left a few clams in her performance.

  • impossibile da canticchiare!

  • This is great. Thanks for making my day.

  • Please make some more stick drawings!!!

  • btw luv luv luuuuuvvvvv the animations!

  • no wayyyyy joni mitchell made this song SOOOO much better this version is HORRIBLE i'm sorry annie ross but joni mitchell kinda pwned you.

  • I wanted to read the other comments while I listened but these cartoons are so cute I couldn't stop watching! Very nice ;)

  • :-))))))))))))

  • Love me Ms, Ross, since I was 3 years old........Once there was a girl, shes was straight from the sticks, thought she go out to the market one day.........yeah I'm 69

  • Still can't believe I've had the privilege to share a stage and sing with this woman!

    Awesome animations!

  • Super fun animation!

  • I love this version! But especially the cartoon is great. Thanks Drizella!

  • " ... and you know two heads are better than one !!! " this song is one of my fav songs to listen to, and Im a jazz singer ( hence the name) and I get a request for this song almost everywhere I play. I want to thank you, drizellaa, for this post AND the stickcartoon, this is riding around in my head , too..............

  • She needs to switch analysts.

  • @citizenkong LOL!!!

  • This is a fantastic Annie Ross song thanks for posting this ..... lmao

  • Great stick animations....really tells it! makes one laugh...thanks for sharing in one of the most popular songs of all time!

  • Who wrote this song? Thanks.

  • @Griwhoolda - Ha replying to myself, sorry - because there's not trash icon; can't delete. Anyway - I found out - and DUH, it's in the tags.

  • @Griwhoolda The tune was written by Saxophonist Wardell Gray. Annie Ross wrote the lyrics. They lyrics are written to the head of the tune and Wardell Gray's solo, transcribed from a circa 1948 recording.

  • @liveintheglory

    Thanks very much!

  • ill be playing a solo with annie on this tune next thursday

  • Amazing, works together so well i love it hahahaha

  • Thanks for all the nice comments! :D

  • Great job, drizellaa! Concise, straight-ahead, cute & expressive. Just like the lovely Annie Ross' performance. Dig it!

  • Great song complimented by some great cartoons.

  • Classic straight-ahead vocalese, but with the cartoons.......

    SUBLIME.

This, in my book ranks with kitty-cat claymation puppets on the YouTube clip of Nina Simone's version of "My Baby Just Cares For Me"

  • beautiful vocalese ;) jazzzz <3

  • Great video! Very good job! Although, I would have used Bette Midlers version of this song. Just me though! Great video.

  • whats happened to that great video with basie-so much better than this-tho this seems to be all thats available

  • Fantastic. !!!!!'

  • A truly unique trio and for me Annie Ross was the best, and not just because she shared my table for a drink one summer night at Kenny Clark's "Blue Note" jazz club in Paris. I was 17 and she was beautiful.

  • haha @ the squirrels

  • That was great!

  • jazz jazz jazz!!
