Quite a few people have recommended Goin Down the Road now. Sounds really interesting and I read it is one of the most influential Canuck films of all time. I just can't seem to find the DVD and I don't want to download it :/
No I haven't been to or lived in Canada, but it would be my next OS destination for sure.
When I travelled through SE Asia it was really interesting that the Canucks and Aussies seemed drawn to keep each other company, in their attempts to avoid the brash Americans! No disprespect to our US friends of course, but it was an interesting observation..
Ah yes, my "loud & proud" neighbors to the south... I think most of us "love them" and "hate them" at the same time, hehe! But you can sure spot a group of them downtown Montreal on a Saturday night... from a kilometer away even!
As for the cultural similarities between Canada and Australia, I think that we are cut from the same cloth... ie: proud Native Aboriginal people -VS- British Colonists.
Yes more original boxes again. I also recently found no less than five VHS on the old Media label from 1981 and 1982 all in their original boxes with inner cover inserts.
You'll probably get homicidal when I get around to the K-Tel one!!
Ha ha, it's all right. I just can't believe you're still able to find titles in stores in original boxes down there. Everything is long gone up here and people must have treated rentals like absolute shit for all the cases to have been chucked. I look at some of my original box releases and just wish I had the rest to match!
It seems to be a public domain film here in the U.S. I can't figure which is the complete version since many releases have different running times. As for the DVD, it was released as a double feature with "I Wonder Who's Killing Her Now?"
Oh boy was there loads of cool stuff in there, Vanity, Black Christmas, The Pit and so on, hee hee. But seriously I'm quite moved, thank you very much for the shoutout. And thanks for setting such a high standard in vlogging for YT, this place wouldn't be worth it without fine vids like yours. :)
I'm relieved you watched! I was thinking should I send it to him, or should I just wait? I thought I'll wait, knowing the video's title should pique your interest.
You've been a loyal supporter of this channel, and previous ones, so thanks to YOU buddy!!
I think the USA is practically the only country in the world not to have a government imposed classification system. You folks are lucky. That said, the commercial pressures of gaining the beloved R rating make it a censorship regime by stealth.
Consistency is not a strength of classifiers anywhere. As for Caligula, it was X in 1985, and not now. A bizarre situation that reflects that very point.
Yeah the Gate has an amazing cover. That company did a few in that style.
I've heard people say they liked Humongous better. The rape scene was quite prolonged, and the dog attack was more bloody. I'm sure it will get a DVD release one day. If so, it would be interesting to see if the print is brightened up a bit.
Tanya's Island features Vanity with her clothes off for quite a lot of the running time. I believe she regretted making this film later on because she became a born again Christian.
Let us know what you think of Black Christmas once you've seen it.
I wonder if Young People Fucking is hard to find because ThinkFilm folded earlier this year? Or did ThinkFilm simply license it to a different distributor?
It's quite possible that their demise has something to do with it. But the DVD was released over a year ago, and yet it has been really hard to find until very recently. It's strange. I've noticed that it has surfaced on ebay, so is more available now than before they folded!
Good video. Yes canada has churned out its fair share of great films. and they still do to this day. Plus alot of their actor's are employed in the states afterwards lulz. That copy of the gate is so rad!!
Canadian film and Canadian men, my two loves!! <3

thanks for the kudos! I like to mix up the intros rather than just make the same one for every video.
If I were to recommend any title here, it would definitely be Black Christmas. It's the perfect christmas eve film. The kids will love it!!

Was "Find The Lady" released on video in Australia? It was one of John Candy's earlier movies.
jakestooge34 2 years ago
Yes it was released here on video, but under the title 'Call the Cops'. I've never seen a copy of it so I think it will be a tricky one to find :)
