  • Wow I had this disc and remember all of these movies. Thanks for posting!

  • reminds me of my younger childhood

  • these movies are in very shitty quality on this microsoft disc, any other sources were released so we could see them in higher resolution, it wasnt even 320x240 and its so pixelated. Some of these anims were in the how dinosaurs!

  • ffj

    fgh

  • Wow, really impressive. Very well done documentary, with correct information and well drawed dinosaurs instead the typical boring fight between titans full of screams and roars.

  • This and the Microsoft Musical Instruments cd-rom was the first cd-roms we got when buying our first PC. It was a great thing to behold.

  • oh my god, i crashed the family computer sooo many times while running this program! i think i was 6 at the time.

  • i remember this from when i was a lil Kid!! i always luved watching this

  • There are about 30 people who do not know a great animation when they see one.

  • Nice video! The narration was excellent. I have a little one minute dinosaurs movie slideshow I made... Check it out.

  • the t-rex n triceratops fight one made me scared of dinosaurs lol for awhile and I was crazy about them for years before that and never went to the clip of them fighting cause I was warned about it, so stayed away, I wish I had listened lol Still love dino's.

  • OH MY GOD....MEMORIES!! my childhood!! please what company produced this so i can buy it!?!?! please tell me!!! thank You for uploading!

  • oh my freakin god. i love you for uploading this. i have been searching for hours trying to look this up! i remember just watching the videos on the CD on my 95 windows back when i was a kid. i still have the CD, though i don't know where it is. thanks for uploading this!!!!! btw, i'm a freshman college student, so it just proves that some memories are too good to pass up! ^^'

  • reminds me of my childhood

  • ha... Wowwwww. >.>

  • omg!! do u know where i can get this from? i would so watch this, just for the hell of it! lol i'm 15 >_<

  • we all going to die like dinosaur

  • im too lazy to see if there is any subliminal message at 0:33 so, can someone tell what it says if there is anything there, just looks like there is something there, maybe nothing bad but it would be cool to know

  • @shaelrion Do you have access to any of the other videos from Microsoft Dinosaurs? I remember a T-Rex and Triceratops fight

  • @seandavidiley

I do, but I would need to find my Microsoft Dinosaurs disc again. I don't remember why I didn't get that scene into this one.

  • I remember this!

  • these are the best dinosaurs animation I've ever seen!

when I was a child, are preatty realistic even by the old animation style which remind me the wall of pink floyd animation!

  • near the end of the creatateous, Some of the carniverous dinosaurs like T-Rex may have resorted to cannablism. infact there are fossils of Tyrannosaurus that has the bite marks that matched only one other dinosaur. Tyrannosaurus Rex. so they obvisouly resaulted to cannablism.

  • These clips are cool. I still think it should be sent to the new PREHISTORIC CHANNEL. Been hoping they can meet their membership goals and become a tv channel, PREHISTORIC CHANNEL that is.

  • Didn't know microsoft did this. Microsoft and the new PREHISTORIC CHANNEL should partner up. PREHISTORIC CHANNEL just launched.

  • @prehistoric28

I remember seeing these clips on an old video we used to watch a long time ago at a babysitter's house. I just got these clips from Microsoft Dinosaurs, I don't know who originally made them.

  • @prehistoric28 Microsoft did not create the animations themselves, they licensed them from PBS.

  • I felt sad to see T-Rex so emaciated then die of starvation. This clip is an example of splendid animation.

  • lol i have the same cd. did it come in a kelloges cereral?? mine did lol i still have it. watch these videos a lot lol

  • OMG this was never not in our VCR as a kid. my brother and I were obsessed with these videos. My mom even painted my brothers room in the style of the dinos. ah man, this is great.

  • I never knew this was avalable,neat.

  • Poor Dinosaurs

  • inb4 creationist literally think they mean time travel by "flew into the future"

  • Oh this brings back memories! Thanks for sharing!

  • there should be no question or debate about it, the birds we see today are no doubt the evolved remainder of the surviving dinosaurs.

  • i've got these videos on vhs :D since i was a little child

  • this video was wicked you should make alot more with different dinasaurs

  • OMG !

    i remember this !

when I was a kid, i was addicted to these movies =)

  • hey i remember this vid...from ages ago!

  • I remember playing with the dinosaurs programs when i was in grade school.

  • Are you the one narrating this?

  • @redcarnotaurus No, lol. The narrator is narrating it.

  • @Shaelrion Ok sorry if I embaressed you :)

  • @redcarnotaurus thats william gates bro

  • I was so young when I watched this show all the time. taped it and just consumed the hell out of that VCR. lol

    thanks for putting this up.

  • Oh god I remember this.

  • you did a very good job . I like. I like u r awesome at putting videos together

  • If you put transcribe it'll say: They teach them how to hunt and children

  • WOW! :D

  • yes...really! I drew so many cycads (pineapple-like fern plants) I become a bit of an expert! We worked with some of the leading paleontologists of that time. But we know a whole lot more about dinosaurs now, so some of this might look pretty in-accurate to the modern eye.

  • i feel like a kid again <3

  • Aww, I felt bad for the Tyrannosaurus at the end. T~T Poor thing. *Glances at leopard gecko in my room* so...that's a dinosaur too? o-o

  • @MelodyRocks1995

technically a gecko is not a dinosaur, it's a type of amphibian, not to mention, geckos, lizards, and all those other amphibians, are cold blooded, dinosaurs were warm blooded mammals.

  • @wesleyluvr9

Eh. Ah well. It's still fun to think it's a mini dino. ^-^

But, mine isn't like, water based or anything. It lives in the desert, so does that mean it's more of a lizard when you think about it? It's even got little claws. xD

  • @MelodyRocks1995

Well dinosaurs lived in the desert too, and amphibians are lizrads. but you do have a good point! :)

  • @wesleyluvr9

Did you mean to say "warm blooded (like) mammals?

  • @DinoFreakUSA

    yes

  • the probability of reptile become bird is zero

  • @telebusu

No, I think the dinosaurs evolved through nature, such as a chicken for example, scientists believe that a chicken COULD be related to a dinosaur because of it scaly feet and other features, if you want, you can check out my profile for more info. And i removed my age because I'm not 24, I'm 13. :)

  • The beginnings weird

  • cool

  • I saw parts of this video in old Jurassica program on Discovery chanel when I was little kid. Brings back memories, and also this is awesome animation, great to watch. Thanks for uploading this.

  • The mosasaur goes OM NOM NOM.

    Mmmmmh.. shellfish.

  • who is the narrator?...she sounds very famiiar...maybe someone who is now on NPR...please let me know if possible

  • Wow! More of these Dinosaurs clips up! I created many of the backgrounds you see in this animation.

I worked at the Encyclopaedia Britannica Educational Film Department in the early '90s when this project was created.

  • That's awesome. My brothers and I grew up watching these videos.

  • @paullyt2000 really????

  • @paullyt2000 yes, the movie production is this one: "The Dinosaurs!" (c) 1992 WHYY, Inc.

  • I'm somehow gladdened that videos like these are being ragarded as nostalgic childhood memories.

Compared to previous childhoods, this is a 'feet on the ground' thing.

    Bring 'em on.

    Thanks heaps for posting.

Previously, information for the kids entertained a far more scary depiction, and scenario, of everything around you.

It's good to see that even grown ups are growing up.

Everything is more interesting, and less scary, when you venture.

  • haha I remember watching this as a kid. Never really understood it but I used to love the drawings. :D

Now I'm fascinated by dinosaurs ^^

  • Oh God, this is taking be back to 1996. Kind of freaking me out haha

  • dinosaur are so great cool

  • Holy God I remember all of these from when was a kid!

    These movies were my life.

  • I actually had this on my computer when i was little!

    absolutely brilliant!

  • The end part with the t-rex is so sad. T.T

  • I want this program som1 help me PLZ!

It might help wen i'm older :P

  • It's not widely available anymore, it first came out in 1994.

  • It's ok ithought this was a program that helps u make ur own digital dino's. So i put that comment on b4 ieven watched the video.

  • wuts wrong with racist bitch

  • the egg eaters? Oviraptor.. Not sure why you got negative feedback for this question though.

  • never mind. i didnt see your rude answer to your own question.

  • anyone have this program??? i searched on the web, but i cant find anything.

anyone knows where to download??? plz

    Thanks.

  • What? Has Microsoft copywrited dinosaurs?

  • In this movie... - Ammonites - Tylosaurus - Opthalmosaurus - Ramporhynchus - Struthiomimus - Anatosaurus - Maiasaurus - Velociraptor - Avimimus - Archaeoptheryx - Tyrannosaurus - Triceratops - Lambeosaurus and... Asteroid xD!
  • uhh thats not lambeosauurus that is corythosaurus

  • oohh my bad xD!

  • I get the two confused too. Lambeosaurus has a similar crest only with an extra bit jutting out the back.

  • All this animations are from a series of videos from the BBC called THE DINOSAURS!!

  • wasnt the first part a part from Little Foot ?

  • You mean The Land Before Time? =P

  • yes it reminds me of that

  • ha that basically what all the kids would call it "Let's watch Little Foot!" such a classic movie

  • I had this disc once it was really good!!!!!

  • My god i had the microsoft dinosaurs cd when i was a kid!! back when i wanted to be a paelontologist! I remember these animations i thought they were brilliant!!!

now im all grown up as an engineer!

  • what was that CD called...i had it also. didnt it have a bunch of other dino things on it as well

  • a genetic engineer? forget it, that joke is too easy :P

  • the stego fight used to scare the crap outta me. i loved the tour guide troadon guy though!

  • OM NOM NOM NOM-ASAURUS

  • the dinosuars are microsoft no wonder they got exstinct error - - bsod-

  • This was one of the first CD ROMS I ever bought. My computer CD drive wasn't fast enough to play it, except for short spurts between long pauses. I think it was around 1991. It's nice to be able to watch it all in one stretch like this.

  • i'm more interested in how you survived. not by natural selection i'll bet.

  • You sure do like your exclamation marks, don't you buddy?

  • haha, its a great way to express emotion. but don't take it as a bad thing, i'm not really yelling and being mean lol :D

  • it is nearby mexico lol

  • This series explained in detail of how they first derived the idea of a meteor impact, as well as went into great details talking to the people involved, and showing how they found the crater impact area as a result...

This series was far ahead of its time.

  • I thought it was a comet? Or would a comet break up too easily?

  • Oh it is still debated.

(The correct term isn't even meteorite, it is "asteroid." This shows you how unconcerned I was with details)

Many people believe a comet is very powerful, but would not have reacted the way the object seemed to. They think a comet would have exploded before it hit solid earth, going off in the sky like a hydrogen bomb. The one that hit 65mya seemed to have gone through the atmosphere and right through the top layers of the Earths crust. This is why many think asteroid.

  • Boy does this bring back good memories :D

  • if anyone has any questions about any prehistoric documentaries, please feel free to ask me. i would be happy to assist anyone interested in trying to track them down. even though you may not know title, just give me some info of what you saw. will do my best to help fellow dinosaur fans. i have quite a library of programs dealing with ancient animals;some imports as well!!

  • you know, the soundtrack to these episodes is available. the music is done by peter melnick. the soundtrack is called THE DINOSAURS. It should still be available. maybe on ebay if it hasn't already been discontinued. the company that put it out: NARADA CINEMA #ND-66004. it is a really great listening experience!

  • this was in the pbs series:the dinosaurs. it had barbara feldon as the narrator and more of this type of animation which, i thought was quite interesting. bakker;horner;neil shubin;jim farlow; and many more famous and not so famous paleontologists gave their insights. i wish they would put this out as a dvd. i have the tapes but, they are showing their age. best episode:' monsters imerge' had all that neat stuff on triassic reptiles and a favorite, first dinosaur: coelophysis.

  • awhh man this video takes me back to being like 7 or 8 :D

  • i have this program

  • I swear to God these animations were from a TV miniseries; it had Robert Bakker in it and everything; it was my favorite dinosaur program... My Ma recorded it on video and I watched it all the time as a kid...

  • I think you're right, and I'm fairly sure that the artwork was by Gregory S. Paul. Great stuff.

  • it was, toledospartan. it was on pbs in 4 episodes. called"the dinosaurs" and was narrated by barbara feldon from 'get smart" she was agent 99 1/2 sidekick. my favorite animated sequence was of the early, triassic reptiles, chasing down that poor scaphonyx, until a big rauchisaurid stopped them in their tracks! anyway, this program still holds up. how about that kathy wankle finding that t-rex,huh? was before 'sue' days, too! and, how about all those iguanodon skeletons in brussels-great stuff

  • That's what I thought. I wish they would put it out on DVD; the old recordings my Ma made are rather worn out...

  • I remember those Microsoft educational CDs! I used to watch one about space and one about music but I never tought there was one about dinosaurs! Cool!

  • I still have the one about dinosaurs, sometimes I put it in my pc just to watch these movies again.

  • You are very lucky, man!

I'm sad if I remember the days I passed watching Microsoft Dog and the others :D

  • I got that cd when I was about 5 so you cant be that bad off just remebering it.

  • ahhh the memories

  • I remember these, these kicked ass (I was a hard-core dinosaur fan when I was younger)

  • yeah me to =P

    that were some good times!!

  • I'm 17 and still a hard-core dino fan... I'm a dork. lol.

  • There's nothing dorky about that. I'm going to college to prepare for grad school to get a PhD in Paleontology. If you're into something, be into it. ^_^

  • ^.^ Thank you. :)

  • I remember a clip like this about a T-rex and a triceratops kicking their asses

  • WOW i used to watch these to:)

  • Can I download the whole thing somwere? that shoud be cool.

  • hell yeah

me either, this skiny dinosaur falling, its breath... so weird

  • HOLY SHIT!! I remember watching this when I was like three years old!! I FUCKING LOVED DINOSAURS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • what the fck are you talking about , this came out in 90s you dumbass.

  • meaning I was 3 years old at some point in the early 90s you stupid fuckin smacktard......what the fuck are YOU on about!?

  • i doubt that at age of 28 today

  • thats not my real age, I'm actually 19

  • yes and im 3

  • wow.......good burn

  • What is this program called anyway?

  • There was a PBS Television series which used these same clips. "PBS Dinosaurs" it was called

  • : ( I thinked it will be real,not animated.

  • I love the chainsaw sound that old CD drives used to do. I know it. So dramatic.

  • I remember these... I had that program, it was my favorite thing on the computer!!!

  • But there was one more movie I remember from this application - it was not a cartoon, but made using models. I remember it showing T-rex and some flower eating dinosaurs. It was actually pretty gory afair. Can you upload it as well?

  • that wasn't a rex. the dino eating flowers was a centrosaurus, the dino sneaking around the forest was an albertosaurus. the sequence was from ''PREHISTORIC BEAST". the stop-motion animation was done by phil tippet and the whole short was about 9 minutes long. anyway, the battle between the two animals was heavy!. especially when the centro thrusts his nose horn into the albertosaur's thigh.ouch!!! try christopher reeve and dinosaurs on youtube as a search; it may be there. let me know.

  • Thanks so much for uploading!!

  • Man, I used to love sitting at my dad's computer and watching these movies over and over again. Thanks so much for loading these on youtube!!

  • I remember these. I used to rent the movies from my local library in Pinole.

  • reminds me of pink floyd...for some reason....he he he! "Mannn!-what am I smoking?"

    ...oh!... right,...weed.

  • I hate to ruin everyones day, but these animations were not made by Microsoft, they were originally made for a UK Channel Four Series produced in the Early '90's by good old fashioned drawing and photographing!

Brilliant Video's though, anyone know where I can get the series on comp, as I can't rip the videos from tape

  • this is amazing .how comes they dont talk about things like this anymore they should be celebrated .this is an increadable feat of animation. i was only two years old when this came out.this was before computer graphics had the power they do today.

  • i had this it was very good

  • The visuals here are from a game based on the show, not the show itself.

  • Its a show.

  • This program was GREAT! I loved Microsoft Dinosaurs and Microsoft Dangerous Species...takes me back about 13-14 years!

The best video was still the Tyrannosaurus stalking the Styracosaurus in the forest!

  • the rex wasn't after a styracosaurus...it was after a very agile triceratops. after the battle was over, the rex's babies helped mom rex feed off of it. did you also like the sequence of the stegosaurus defending itself from an allosaurus? there were those cool shots of the steg, thrusting his spiked tail outward, towards the allo. then, after a brief few moments, the allo ran off. that peaceful steg really looked p-oed!

  • hm.. i dont even know how i got on this video..... i think i started off watching hands down... lol

  • ya i remember when this series came on PBS... i got the whole video collection somewhere

  • Oh my god! The memories! Reminds me of watching these from the library computers when I was a little kid. Thanks for posting!

  • I SO had this game! WOW! Its like watching my childhood

  • it wasnt a game it was a show

  • beautiful traditional animation.

  • When were this movies made? oO

  • 1992. They were part of a series called The Dinosaurs.

  • lol i have these videotapes in spanish when i was a child, and now i wonder how found the videos for my class of biology,(because i have video tapes,no cds or dvds)how is the name of the cd?microsoft dinosaurs?there isnt at other sources?good work and u would send me the videos?put a comment saying yes o no thanks¡ and good work¡

  • ah i forget something, have u the video of the hunters pair of herrerasaurus?its a great video,if i can pass the videotape to cd,i could upload.

  • I have that on my tape.
