Gotta wait 15 days for a pea-shooter .38, but you can take an arsenal to equip a small african country right away. Something about that never made sense to me. :)
Ammo on the counter, Guns on the counter, probably not the first time this has happened to the shop owner, but then again it is a classic american small town mom and pop gun shop.
because of this fucking film everytime i see uzi be it in movie or gun shops or whatever i get this playback in my head of arnold " OOZIEH NEIN MILIMEETAH" hehe i always laugh.
Google "Terminator Franchise has an alternate power source" Read it immediately and respond if you want the next Terminator to actually work and kick ass in 2014.
Brilliant. The top comment is pointing out the factual errors in how he behaves in a gun store. In a film about a killer robot from the future sent to kill the saviour of humanity. Because dealing with this kind of realistic, socially relevant story, your top priority would be correct use of firearms. I fucking give up.
I wonder why they cut out the part with him asking for the Armalite AR180. It played a major role in the police department shootout. Also, in the book, the Terminator converts it to full auto, and that was cut from the movie too.
Of course it's a completely unrealistic scenario... ammo within reach, no trigger locks, gun store clerk working alone in the store. But despite all these very valid points brought up in these comments you all forgot one thing... HE'S THE TERMINATOR. Modern small arms can't hurt him.
@satorres82 Not COMPLETELY unrealistic. Only the big sports stores have trigger locks (at least here in Texas). Every dedicated gun store I've been to has been trigger lock free. Its so you can actually get a feel for the trigger.
@SirWilliamMonocle I'm trying to remember the gun stores I went to last in Houston. Collectors Firearms I don't think had trigger locks but the ammo was behind the counter. Carters country maybe not, Fountain firearms. I think you are right, but the ammo always seemed to be out of reach.
@satorres82 Oh yeah definitely. The only place I've seen ammo NOT behind the counter was at big places like Academy and Bass Pro where, incidentally, they have trigger locks. Although there's nothing to stop someone from potentially walking in with a loaded magazine in their pocket or something. They'd be shot by the employees, but still.
@SirWilliamMonocle Academy keeps their pistol ammo behind the counter, but not rifle and shotgun shells. Basspro and Gander Mountain keep everything out on the shelves. And you are right about the trigger locks at these stores. But the guy working alone and ammo on the counter, not likely at all if the owner had some brains.
If you'd try to do it alone, the clerk would shoot you on the spot. You'd need like 5 dudes with guns on their own to rob a gunstore, or you'd have to break in at night, when nobody's there.
@TyTimeIsAwesome i used to work in a gun store. the ammo is not behind the counter, it's in an open storage cabinet, but the guns behind the counter that people could hold had a lock on the slide and on the trigger so even if they were able to move away from the counter, get to the cabinet, and load it without being noticed by the 8 workers plus the customers, they wouldnt be able to shoot it
@TyTimeIsAwesome No gun store owner in his right mind would keep ammo on the counter near guns without trigger locks. Arnie would have been thrown out long before that anyway with the way he was handling the guns, he muzzle sweeped the counter guy more than once. And the reaction you would get from loading a gun in a place like that wouldn't be "hey u can't do that''
The reaction would most likely be a gun in your face telling you to "GET THE F*** OUT"
@Ninety9Soulz lol what with Americas track record on this I wouldn't be so confident but yeah you'd expect the guy to be a little more fearful of a loaded gun
a "phased plasma rifle in the 40 watt range," a weapon from its own time which can be seen being used by resistance fighters and terminators alike during the film's scenes of post "Judgment Day" conflict. A larger vehicle mounted version of this weapon appeared to have the power to violently rip a human body into several charred pieces upon impact.
Okay if a weapon is made pre 1987 it is considered a LEGAL automatic firearm outside the state of California. Since this is made in 1984 as that gentlemen said it is quite possible. Also, how do we know the uzi submachine gun in 9x19mm parabellum is in fact a fully automatic weapon? How are we not sure that it is not a semi-automatic version for civilian use? These are the questions one must ask themselves, also incase there is anymore confusion he said auto LOADER, not inferring automatic fire.
I don't think even back then automatic weapons were available to the general public, i mean a fucking Uzi in a gunstore? You can take out a group of people in seconds with that thing.
Phased plasma rifle in 40 watt range...I wonder just how far off that is now. I mean we now already have a laser system that can be mounted on a ship or a plane and can take down a missle in flight. How long before we can adapt that to a shoulder-fired weapons platform?
The terminator in this movie is too much badass compared to the others.
In this, he killed the man, in the others he would just walk away with the guns.... and if the gunner said "Hey, you have to pay that" he would say "talk to the hand."
@FractalBolt The movie came out in 1984, gun laws were different. Someone with much more knowledge on gun ownership and laws from that era: feel free to correct me or expand on this area.
@Richardwells3 Yeah, that's how it is in NYS. I have to wait 48 hours max for an AK, but it takes up to a year for a pistol permit. My permit for my .44 took 8 fuckin' months.

In reality, any gun store owner would pull his sidearm on anyone holding a gun and attempting to load it in their store.
Not that it would do this guy any good since the T-800 shakes off small-arms fire like fleas.
