  • The Airborne Toxic Event is really good, I think. I am also a huge Death Cab fan.

  • Now it started itching all over my body!!! -.-

  • I have been listening to some Born Of Osiris <3

  • Um I don't think I can list all the music I like. Here's some highlights you are less likely to hear from other people I guess? Steve Reich, Erik Satie, Yoshida Brothers, Apocalyptica, The National, Iron and Wine, Bessie Smith, Billy Holiday, Samuel Barber, Charles Ives, Chen Yi, *checks iTunes because brainfail* Astor Piazzolla, Hedningarna, Eluveitie, Ivo Papasov, Orange Rush, Movits! Probably enough for now. Not that you'll read this. >.<

  • Hank, it's the pills!!!

  • I spend my convalescence watching Hank and John on youtube. Its pretty wonderful.

  • I listen to Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga, Ke$ha, Rihanna, some Beyonce; but also Wolfsheim, only the bestest german band ever, and Zombina and the Skeletons, The Vitamin String Quartet (check out their album of lady gaga covers!!! SO AMAZING), and some other single songs by various bands, of course.

  • @LotusTheobroma VSQ are SOOOO GOOOD!!!!

  • Matt and Kim, especially Daylight, it makes me laugh.

Vampire Weekend; White Sky is another song that makes me laugh--that chorus!

White Lies, Bigger Than Us. Not funny, but so GOOD.

This reminds me, though: I was once prescribed a book by my doctor. He said, "Look, there's nothing I can really do to make you feel better. You're going to feel awful for a few weeks, but you'll be fine. So! Why don't you read Guns, Germs, and Steel?" (Doc and I sometimes talk books) And I did. And it was awesome.

    Made of awesome much??

    From Dumbledoresome via Caldabolg

  • Heaven Shall Burn. Is that what you think of "good taste" ?;D

  • In terms of Japanese music, I suggest Perfume, The Gazette (although a few of their songs are disturbing, still pretty good since there are HUNDREDS of good ones), Bueno, and Piko, who is a solo singer, not a band. If you don't have a problem with robotic voices there's also Vocaloid.

In terms of American music, the list is LONG. But among my favorites there's Owl City, best band ever, A Rocket To the Moon, Green Day, and more stuff I don't have the time nor space to mention.

  • @fearspork I figured. Just doing my nerdfighterly duty! Cheers.

  • a little bit of the mountain goats (Thank your brother.), The Diablo Swing Ochestra, A lot of stuff by Hans Zimmer, Music made for a webcomic called Homestuck (That is about a billion times nerdier than Wizard Rock or Time lord Rock.), and some random Jazz and Blues I find strewn across The internet.

  • It's got to be My Chemical Romance, Green Day, Paramore, P!ATD, The All-American Rejects, Hank, Alex Day, Charlieissocoollike, Eddplant, Chameleon Circuit and DISNEY.

  • Sons Of Admirals (and ALL their solo stuff), Owl City, Chameleon Circuit, Hank Green and Blue Skies

  • Radiohead, The Cure, Pink Floyd, Placebo, Brand New, Muse and David Bowie! To name a few anyway. :)

  • Green Day Green Day GREEN DAY!!!!

or failing that My Chemical Romance with a dash of Marilyn Manson

  • @spongefreak101101 No, I didn't know! And now I'm totally going to go check that out. :] Also, it makes me very happy that you implied that you like/love/have heard of Relient K... I love them with a passion...

  • Mainly The Beatles. Monty Python's music, showtunes, country (Alan Jackson, Little Big Town--more of a folk/country band, but amazing).

  • Owl City, Alex Day, Charlie McDonnell, Hank Green, Sons of Admirals =D

  • Panic! At the Disco, Paramore, Relient K, Yellowcard, some Owl City, Hank Green, biology parody songs to help me pass my midterms... Yeah. I know I'm late.

  • @lemondrop5578 Holy Crap! You are me! Did you know that PATD is coming out with a new album at the end of March?

  • The Format (quirky, poetic, catchy indie rock)

fun. (same lead singer as The Format = same style)

Bo Burnham (you have to have heard of him)

The Decemberists (intellectual, diverse, beautiful indie rock)

    Morgen Laurence (great MySpace musician)

    Check 'em out!

  • KPop band called SHINee = <3, another KPop band called f(x) [yes it's a band with the function of x as the name, korean nerdfighters?] is awesome, KPop, JPop, other AsianPop are made of awesome

  • Hahaha, I, as I write this, have a terrible poison oak rash completely covering my face and balls. It is freaking horrible. I can totally understand how much suck this was for you XDDDD

    That's basically it.

    And Chameleon Circuit,cause...you know.i'm a nerdfighter :)

  • Hank, I couldn't help but laugh when I listened to "Ultra Relax". I just had to think of you dancing around in your underwear xD

I almost listen to everything... but right now my top faves are Red Hot Chili Peppers, John Lennon, LaRoux, 30 Seconds To Mars & serenades from Max Bruch. =)

  • I finnished kodocha last week, it was AWESOME and one of my all time fav. anime.

  • Cage the Elephant

  • pomplamoose

  • I usually listen to motivational/Christian rock. (Superchick, Toby Mac, Stars Go Dim, Skillet, Flyleaf, Barlowgirl, et cetera.)

  • Hey Hank! :D

Hank, i know from watching every ep. of the vlogbrothers that you said a while back that sometimes you like to listen to jpop, even if it is sickeningly sweet (this is my second round through all the videos). Your reference to Ultra Relax reminded me of that and i also remembered that i wanted to share my recommendation! From one person, who alone in their friend group likes jpop as opposed to jrock, to another, i recomend Aya Matsuura! DFTBA, and best wishes!

I listen to your music, The Blibbering Humdingers, ALL CAPS, and some misc. wizard rock other than that.

  • I love, love, love, these artists in no specific order. Matisyahu, Trevor Hall, Nossan Zand, The Tiger Lillies, Marcella and The Forget Me Nots, The Puppini Sisters, I am sure I can think of more later but thats it for now. Rock On!

  • This is the video that introduced me to you guys lol....that's kind of hilarious I got to see you at your craziest XD

  • you

  • youtube introduced me to Within Temptation, a reliably awesome band with the self-describing tagline "melodic prgressive rock with stunning female vocals." That sums it up fairly well. It's about as heavy as my music gets, but I love it!

  • can I please have your set of Kodomo no Omocha manga...? Lol, I know I can't... but I really want them ^_^

  • The Avett Brothers Band of Horses The Antlers Bright Eyes Nicole Atkins Flight of the Conchords The Airborne Toxic Event LESLIE Los Campesinos! Manchester Orchestra MGMT The Mountain Goats Pearl Jam...almost put Ham... Cake (Love their song Opera Singer.)

  • I listen to a LOT of metal and punk rock. My favortie bands are Rammstein (a German industrial metal band, if you didn't know) and Linkin Park (I heart the screaming). I also have a love of the Japanese Pop and (strangely enough) theme songs from anime shows. Why, I don't know... but they are FULL of awesome.

    2: Creed

    3: DragonForce

    4: Nickelback

    2, System of A Down

    3, Rob Zombie

    4, The Indigo Girls

    5, many random things...

  • ZOMG KODOCHA

You are officially one of my favorite people in the whole world. Despite the fact that you pronounce manga wrong.

DFTBA Hank. As if you ever could.

  • Blarg, Hank didn't pronounce manga wrong, a large amount of people promounce it like that (likes British peeps :3)

    Music?

All American Rejects, Superchic[k], Hank Green, and Spleen Day (my friend does spoofs of Green day songs.)

  • Just because a large amount of people pronounce it that way doesn't make it correct ;P

It's a Japanese word with Japanese pronunciation. In French, would you pronounce

"parsque" as Par's-Qew? No. Different languages use different pronunciations, even when said by a non-native speaker.

  • mah-nga is correct but man-ga sounds better to me..and u can say it easier..less complicated sound :P

  • Its a two syllable word, I don't understand how that could be complicated.

  • -.- maybe ur just mute idk

  • I'm not mute, and manga is not difficult to pronounce. Even John pronounced it correctly in one of these videos.

  • u didn't get what i ment at all ¬.¬ its not like its difficult but its easier to pronounce is man-ga even tho its the wrong way to say it.

  • Its easier to make a long vowel sound rather than a short vowel sound? You'd think it would be the other way around.

  • -.- with (mahn-ga) the correct pronounciation u rele have to emphasize the 'h' making it a longer sound than when u say (man-ga), this incorrect version sounds much less harsh to an english speaker.. i rele dont see the need for a long arguement over 2 simple words.

  • You're saying it's pronounced Ma-HUH-nga? Thats totally wrong. And I don't see the need to argue either, you all just replied to MY original comment and picked a fight with me.

  • Top 5 Bands:

    1. The Beatles

    2. The Rolling Stones

    3. Queen

    4. The Police

    5. Keane

Not really prioritized but The Beatles are definitely numero uno.

    t. rex

    pixies

    roxy music

    peter murphy

  • The Beatles, Mute Math, and oh! Look up Will Sturgeon on Youtube, he has a number of projects but they are all amazing.

  • The Eagles and The Beatles

  • Joanna Newsom and Regina Spektor (look for her unreleased music on youtube) are probably my two favorite artists. I'm also a huge fan of Relient K because their music is peppy and their lyrics are so clever.

Also, if you're up to some amazing choral music, I highly recommend checking out Rachmaninov's Vespers as performed by the Robert Shaw Festival Singers. (Number II is my favorite :])

  • i have been listening to a lot of casiotone for the painfully alone, Bright eyes, Black dice, animal collective , the hush sound, oppenheimer, panda bear and vision Swim. so its obvious that i spend way too much time listening to music.

    :D
