Lots of ppl here seem to forget this is about entertainment - SP are an 80s parody band. Having grown up thru that period, I'd say this is one of the most funny & entertaining solos I've seen - of that genre. Of course it's derivative, it's meant to be!!! I'm sure Satchel is quite capable of modern guitar techniques - it's quite clear the guy can play. And any working musician can see they are entertaining & making a living. I just wish they'd come to Australia...

That is an 8 minute solo and only about 30 seconds are from eruption, so it is pretty far from "basicly eruption" how about the more that 30 seconds of "flight of the bumble bee" that is far more impressive that the eruption part.
