  • Incredible performance!

  • good job!!!

  • 你在趕火車?

    雖然技巧很精湛、很快,但是完全沒有表現出曲子的感覺

    欠缺練習。

  • I love how the camera can't keep up with your fingers :)

and thank you for specifying that this piece is supposed to be fun firey.. there are way too many critics on youtube who say slow it down, put in more feeling, etc.

    And a sub-2min op10 no4 is awesome!

  • 强烈推荐YUJA WANG 10岁的时候的那个版本.. 个人认为更好些.. 即使速度没有这个这么快. 但是音的处理上 更喜欢一些..

  • Maravilhosa !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • are you sure that this is for fun???? you're a pro?!!!! ><

  • ugh

  • so what!!!

  • pro

  • Wow!

  • This is great! I really want to learn this now after you played it!

  • First when i read that you were playing this for fun, i was expecting a sloppy performance, but DANG that's fine

  • yes! I totally agree. As I mentioned, this is just for fun, not for performance purposes~ :)

  • 40 dislikes came from people who are gay.

  • @inachu lol

  • @inachu nah, even the gays like her...It has to be nazis...

  • she is cute!

  • nicely done, perhaps add a little female tender to it..Bravo. You need a better piano.

  • süüüß, aber tempo is nich immer gleich geld :)

  • That piano has no idea what just happened.

  • LA PIU' VELOCE MICA E' LEI :) MA PURTROPPO RESTA SEMPRE CZIFFRA IL NUMERO UNO..VEBBE' STUDIA PER UNA VENTINA DI ANNI E RIUSCIRAI A RAGGINGERE IL SESSANTA PER CENTO DELLE SUE POTENZIALITA' CMQ COMPLIMENTI

  • Nice to meet you. It becomes impossible without commenting though it had listened to your performance.

It is wonderful highest in respect of a music sense and a sense of rhythm and various technologies.

  • your details is not enough.

  • I don't understand your feelings.. congratulations for your tecnic.. but chopin is lovable, is very sweet and romantic..

  • @5diesis3bemolli

Indeed, Chopin is very lovable, sweet, and romantic; but I don't think it applies to this piece~ This piece is spontaneous, fun, and firy! This video is just for fun :) Enjoy it! If you want something lovable, sweet, and romantic, go to my home page "dolcekelly" and check out Barcarolle~ Thank you for listening!

  • @5diesis3bemolli You know, the little words above the sheet, underneath the title say: "Presto con fuoco' and not sweet and romantic. I think it is wonderfully played. You go girl.

  • @5diesis3bemolli etuds in op. 10 was deticated to his friend liszt, I hope you know what kind composer liszt is. therefore i think her interpretation for this piece is the way chopin wanted to be.

  • Pretty good! If only I could play it!

  • Wo xi huan

  • This is one of my favorite Etudes by Chopin. Excellent job!

  • Wow.. The moment I saw her with her fingers shaping a V, I thought the video was going to be a joke, and then BAMMM!!

  • Superb. Richter tempo. Little or no pedal. Chopin would be proud.

  • @petie32 Not quite Richter tempo. Anyway very clear and truly amazing performance

  • 彈的真好!只不過錄音不是錄的很好。

  • People, please man up and stop whining that she's playing too fast for you. If anything, it's too slow. Its not even close to the Chopin's crazy metronome marking. Hmm, who's opinion of the piece's tempo should i accept, Chopin's or internet randoms..?

  • Incredible technique

  • Sweet Kelly, bravissima ! You are a very powerful pianist, wishing you much success in competitions and carrier !

  • too bad most people can't tell whether a video has bad playing or a bad camera.... it's obvious from the sparse use of the pedal that this performance is much cleaner in person (or with a better microphone)

  • agreed; also the microphone can't really capture the true dynamic contrasts she uses when she plays the piece.

  • So you are a Taiwanese pianist? I currently live in taiwan, 基隆市暖暖區. do you live in 台北? Is this at a recital hall in Taiwan?

  • @justinrp97 This video clip was taken at the University church at USC (南加大) I'm currently here in Taiwan also for a vacation. not from Taipei. My brother Andy Lin(林維洋) is giving a viola solo recital at taipei concert hall (台北國家音樂廳) on 9/7 this year, and I will be accompanying him for this concert. If you are curious, welcome to come and hear us perform!

  • isn't it too fast? ;)

  • strong

    fast

    amazing...

  • lol!! love the signe you do to the camera at the beguining!! it's so kind :D well, you have an energic playing that match so well with this Chopin's etude, i guess you could play the first one amazingly too. it's beyond cool!

  • awesome!

  • too slow XD

    sincerely I fell in loved...

  • wow fantastic!!!!!!!

  • Wow, brilliant performance. I am getting ready to learn this. Is there anything that I should know before I start this piece, and any tips?...

  • haha wow i wish to learn this too one day...hey KElly are u from Hong Kong?

  • @bambee

    no, I'm from Taiwan

  • @bambee good play play the others studiedss please!! nice very nice

  • @bambee good play play the others studiedss please!! nice very nice concervatory??

  • @RoseMarieJames01 Thank you very much for your comment. To become a concert artist is a dream for me, I'm working on it. However, I love accompanying, doing chamber music, and teaching, so if I get to perform once in a while as a soloist, I'm happy enough! I love playing piano for fun, this etude was just a fun recording my friend did before we were off to a party... so it wasn't perfect in any ways. But it's fun! And that's what I want my life to be! Hope yours is as well!
  • Bravo! 太好了!

  • How many times did u practiced this piece ? @_@ Thunder girl haha...

  • @bambee

lol... no idea... just play it whenever I feel like it!

It's such a fun piece to play!

    maybe 100 times???

  • lol she plays at some parts a little bit wrong ... i know it im a pianist haha

  • wow. that was awesome!!!! im speechless....congratulations! :)

  • wow. that was awesome!!!!! im speechless....congratulations! :)

  • since when a chinese kung fuka might play chopin!!!!! the female version of lang lang and the same rubbish made in china! this confusion will bring us to where! when u play this way chopin you kill chopin!

  • whoa Kelly - it's like your hands are on fire! that was great :)

  • Hey Kelly! are you gonna be a performer?

You play so well, and you're really pretti too!

  • @Tikilakaa

I would love to be a performer,

but I know it is very difficult to get up there,

so I'm just enjoying what I do right now!

    No pressure~

  • At first, when I saw that cute V at the beginning I though you were to be bad at piano, but hell, you've done it. You are cute and AMAZINGLY awesome at piano.

  • @nzgames

    I know!! He is incredible!!

  • hahaha I love your greeting before you start playing xD!! People here don't understand that you made this video FOR FUN. To me is very nice to get fun with your great skills ; )!! Greetings from Mexico, keep on playing and getting fun =P ; )!!

About to get fun, haven't you seen the videos of Victor Borge?? they're so funny xD!!

  • amazing~~~ truly stunning..

  • Comment removed

  • actually... i am impressed. i was expecting another half assed performance by people attempting this piece...

    but wow.

not much pedal use and you really created the sound through the playing...

    not too mechanical either..

    im seriously impressed.

still... richter > you but who isnt richter better than?

    proppssss

  • @koryano321

No one can be compared to Richter! And pleaseeee don't compare me to Richter, I will be so ashamed! He is the God!!

  • @dolcekelly hahahaha~~ great job though!!

only people i like more than Sviastslov Richter is Horowitz or Rachmoninoff.

really great job on the piece. i hope you continue to play and upload music!!

  • @koryano321 Arrau is better than richter in every respect,....

  • Why is she playing it at such an accelerated tempo ?

  • very good recording, i like. ignore all comments about "blah blah dont play fast"

    keep doing what youre doign

  • bang bang bang....

  • I like it ..... but it is not a 100 mt run agains Bolt :)

  • ouch.

might as well just grab a large hammer and go at it, show that piano who's boss.

  • Kelly, you are so beutifull ;) please give me a contact ;)

  • A fantastic performance! I great enjoyed!. My teacher would might have said a little muddy, as very much I have played, but I enjoyed very much!

  • i can say it's just a bit too fast even if im not a pro

  • @pilote111 u can but it dont make you correct becuase this is the actual tempo

  • @allthenamesrtook I know, I checked. Sorry. I know there is something missing or wrong but I don't know what.

Anyway, it really good, I would play like that.

  • As usual, most of the the videos on youtube are lousy audio quality. Filtering through all the excess reverberation (from the lousy recording method), she really sounds quite excellent. Good feel for the tempo, dynamics, accent notes. I was impressed.

I was looking for info on who she is. Couldn't find anything satisfactory. Maybe someone should post some info.??

A professional quality audio would do wonders for her image....hint,hint.

  • @robertslistening

lol... sorry, this recording is from a small SONY camera... not any close to a professional recording, can't afford that! I just recorded this for fun anyway, before heading out to a party (so still in my party dress). Well, she graduated from USC studied with John Perry, now at Rutgers doing DMA~

  • I prefer it a tiny bit slower

  • what a amazing finger condition! bravo...

  • wow...

  • This is just so explosive with energy, I really like how you play...well done!!!

  • The faster, not necessarily the better, alas.

  • @labcdaire yea but it so happens to be better here k?

  • Impressive 0_o

I head this one a lot but that fast ... its amazing.

  • NICE!!!

  • I think you are verry active even you area a girl:) you are very gorgeous

  • @orchidea2008

    thank you, but I'm old!

  • Um.. AWSOME!

  • Amazed@.@SUGE!!!

  • 現在這首歌在太鼓達人wii2也有出現

  • i don't really hear a lot of dynamics. too focused on the notes i think. but outstanding performance

  • this interpretation is just awesome

  • wow i think i'm stupid or something. now that i plugged in earphones and am really focusing on the playing, i do hear dynamics. well played!

    and notation is great.

  • @rachellikescookies

wow! It made a big difference? Never try that before! It's a camera recording, so the sound is not that great~~

  • 1:06 mistake .... but the rest is perfect :)

  • Comment removed

  • hahah I do that a lot when I keep playing something wrong I just play random shit on the piano XXDD

  • man that looks rough on the fingers lol. do pianists get calluses?

  • @StopTheMoti0n

I think they do! I don't though... maybe because I don't practice enough! lol

  • 1:16 mistake?

  • @nevienslats Mistakes or not, sorry but that girl plays wonderfully.

  • i've seen one that's 15 seconds faster...........

  • Fantastic endurance, but like others have stated...more dynamic contrast would make the piece just dazzle your listeners even more. :) Add a touch of your own interpretation...Chopin leaves a little room for it. :)

You've got great facility. Crazy finger work. Great job!

  • o.o!!! dios q chido tocaa 5*

  • too much pedal, but its really COOL

  • omg!! it was technically awesome! I have a question to ask. you see, when I play really fast, for a long time, my hands and wrists start hurting LIKE HELL and turn really hard and I have to stop for a while. can you tell me, how you manage to play so fast for a long time? thxxxx C:

  • @SenoraFabregas

You have to relax when the easy parts come, but I messed up in the middle anyway ^^

  • I love this speed, it's perfect!

Sorry to say though, there could've been more variation in the dynamics. Well, it's easier said than done though.

    Nice work! :)

  • technically impressive, very "strong" fingers :D

but the piece is not all "forte/fortissimo", you should pay attention to dynamics ;)

    (sorry for my english)

  • dazzling, energetic, flamboyant, vigorous and full of flair

    :D

  • @Smeagollum86 >>>> indeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee- FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU- zzzzz

  • whoever says this is too fast, it's not, it's perfect speed

    and this is excellent

btw where is this? where do you study?

  • @Smeagollum86

This was at USC's university church, and I was studying there. Now at Rutgers doing DMA

  • MY GOD!!! I LOVE YOU FOR THIS!!! BRAVA

  • Presto (ma non troppo). Lack of dynamic differentiation.

  • Bravo, very impressive. You're a very talented lady!

  • すごいですね!

    のだめカンタービレで流れていたので

    検索してみました。

    自分も頑張ろうと思います!

  • impressive! technically up to par, and the tempo was just right (for me). wicked performance!

  • oh! iam slaving over her fingerswhen she is playing the piano.

  • I'll forgive her ridiculously fast speed because a) it's technically clean and b) she's cute. Ha!

  • wow this is a really burning chopin!!!!

  • You know a lot of you guys crit her about her speed and all and yeah the dynamics are important but when you playing a piece this fast it requires a lot of skill, I guess thats part of being a musician eh? :)

  • is very very fast i like it little slow but fast and i feel it the same

    not changes the intensitive

  • Hmm very good but needs more hmmm how should I put it, passion idk lol. But otherwise very nice.

  • Cool ~

  • excellent techniques, yet not very enjoyable to listen to. passion is slightly different from going completely berserk. but you can make it work easily.

  • sometimes...you need to make sure your left hand matches your right hand, and make sure all the notes match up and not "run into each other." Other than that, MAGNIFICENT!

  • PIANO ON CRACK!!!! THAT WAS EPIC!

  • Etude op 10. no.4 is not about quickness, but about DYNAMICS!!!! = music

  • Comment removed

  • accent rather

  • really good technique but she rushes too fast

i cant see any feelings coming out..just too busy to rush over.

  • @pearlylily

haha~ actually in a hurry to go to a party!

  • Very good, but could a little more dynamics though.

  • It is too difficult to tell how large her dynamic range is.

You have to concern about the recording equipment she used, edit process, the location of the hall she recorded, and your computer speaker. Most of video recorder doesn't contain good recording equipment.

Therefore, when she plays too forte, the machine automatically controls the volume as certain level in order to avoid cracking sound. When she plays pianissimo, the machine also controls its level as louder than she plays.

  • @kazpfster

Wow, you were right! I was just using a camera~~ lol! Next time, I will hire someone who is more professional doing a video recording of me! And of course, in a better hall!

  • Awesome! Your play is really inspiring!

    Thank you.

  • For everyone of you who don't like her playing.

Can't you guys tell how talented she is? If you can't, don't listen to any classical music.

She was not using too much pedal. It is an acoustic of the hall. It is obvious if you see her foot.

    She has excellent technique.

She also get involved music wonderfully.

  • Agreed, the sustain comes from the large hall, not an overuse of pedal!

  • kaz. Damn right. She is brilliant. This is a fantastic interpretation - plenty of power and guts.

  • I think she will become a good artist.

The only thing I can suggest to her is that

she may be about to think about choreography.

That will add her performance even better.

  • @kazpfster

    What do you mean choreography?

  • @dolcekelly

    I meant "the exaggerated gesture".

  • @kazpfster This is one long smear of a performance, your snotty remarks to the contrary. An acoustic of the hall? Hilarious!

  • too much pedal!!

    it makes the piece noisy.

but anyway, the technique is awesome.

you should pay more effort on the middle part

  • @himikomisa

This was actually recorded by a camera... not a video recorder, so the quality is not that great! and I actually just recorded this for fun before heading out to a party~ so I know it's a mess in the middle because I need more time to prepare this piece! >_<

  • i think this was done quite well. her technique is superb

  • music is not about steady tempo... i thought this was very musical, very clear, and insanely impressive.

  • i agree. and i also think that somewhere in the middle she played a mess

  • このようにテクニックをひけらかすために

    エチュードがあるのではない。

    皆のもの。肝に命ぜよ!!!

  • great!! my one opinion. can you less pedal?

  • Great technique +great passion=great performance

  • how do her fingers run so FAST!!!

  • bravo

  • man music isn't all about how fast the person can play its about how they interperate the piece as the individual themselves... Ritcher probably just played it fast because he wanted to show off or for whatever reason doesn't mean its the best

  • man you guys are fuckin retards. this is how fast the piece is supposed to be played. why do you say anything when you have no idea what the fuck you are talking about?

  • Beautiful playing and I would pay to see you play!

  • how long did you take to prepare it?

    it sound fantastic!!

  • @darkakki

played and stopped and played and stopped for about a year long?

  • Technically this looks brilliant, but is it all about speed? do a speed-competition and you do what all the world's doing: bigger-better-faster-more. where's the heart in all this?

  • @chlaebrig

You are right, it's not about the speed, but it's all about the fun! I just did this video for fun before going to a party... lol~ You can check out other videos played by me, I think they are more musically!

  • I always wonder if anyone can reach this level or only talented people..

  • It's because Richter has finger steroids.
