  • I miss the 90s. Such a fun time, and yet I only had 5 years of it. Still, the best time of my life. If I could do it all again, I so would. Oh, fighting that bloody Miltank and finding out that Green stole my precious eevee.

  • I don't know if y'all notice this but the diamond/pearl gym leader music is the exact same music when facing each of the elite four. dang, the makers were getting lazy with these titles ( maybe platinum too).

  • @DrakeFire1988 Well... I was playing this game recently and I have a very sensitive hearing when it comes to awesome instrumental music (like pokemon) and I could hear that the elite four is a tad bit higher. So small that its just a couple sharp or flat notes, anyways I do agree that the're getting lazy.

  • the ruby/sapphire/emerald gym leader battle theme is the best out of this lot.

  • This music raises my stress level.

  • I actually think the Johto music is better than Hoenn in this category. I used to think the G/S/C bgm wasn't that good, but as I've gotten older I find it much more entertaining to listen to. The R/B/Y gym theme isn't bad, just boring and without as much progression as the other two. Sinnoh just sucks.

  • 1 - R/B/Y - I barely have words to define what I feel when I hear to this

2 - D/P/E - This one always pumps me up, it's so intense and cool

3 - R/S/E - I don't know. It's by far the most different gym battle tune. But I can easily feel the drama of a gym battle while hearing this, so it's great!

4 - G/S/C - Again, GSC music proves to be bad :/ Not all bad though, some beats of the song are cool

  • @MrReaperTheClown D/P/E?

i know what DP is, but what is E?

  • @JacobLi123 ops, it was meant to be "Pl", not "E" o: I mixed things, oh well

  • All of these themes are awesome, but despite everything, only the original Red/Blue/Yellow one has the power to, years after I've played the games, increase my heart rate and flood me with nostalgia. Doesn't matter how many years it's been. Pokemon FOREVER lol

  • I like all the Generations because every one has something new

    Gen I-The Pokemon

    Gen.II-The Color

    Gen III-The Post-Game Fun(Battle Frontier)

    Gen IV-The Details

    Gen V-The Realism

  • My favorite games are GSC, but I have to sadly admit that I think they have they worst music. They don't have the epicness of RBY, and not the quality of RSE. DPP can sod off though, I don't care about them.

  • They are all good! Just some better than others, you know?

  • DPPt got boring... quick. I was sick of hearing. The rest were great.

  • D/P's theme is hands-down my favorite. It just seems like the most elaborate and experimental, and it was just DIFFERENT. I loved it.

  • anyone else hear the surf?

  • I miss being a kid. It almost makes me cry. I remember right after school i would walk home and on the way home we would all pull out our gameboys and play until the green light turned red lol good times pokemon and dbz pretty much describe sum up my childhood

  • pokemon gold was the best Pokemon ever

  • I have a game from every generation. This makes me tear up :'D

  • The first time I played Sapphire I was about six. I was unaware that the first gym was Rock, so I chose Torchic. When I went up Roxanne, I forgot to evolve Torchic. I then began to cry because I couldn't beat the first Gym. After that, I started a new game, chose Treecko, got through all of the game, then lost to Sidney and his damn Shiftry. WHERE WAS BLAZIKEN WHEN I NEEDED IT??

  • RSE is so damn cool.

  • @OhTheMetal yeah those are always gonna be my favorites. hoenn is beast!!!

  • haha makes me remember when the girls in ericas gym (grass one) would tell you that fire pokemon were not allowed in there... then i whip out my charizard and just own them all :D

  • Back when I was 4 I HATED fighting brock in yellow version. now I just look back and laugh it off.

  • Go, Charizard! Go, Blastoise!.......-New Game-

  • OMG you can hear jynx in red blue yellow gym lesdr song!!!!!

  • Man I still remember the days when on red/blue/yellow if you picked charmander you had to raise a caterpie to a butterfree just to get past that gym haha

  • @cheesemonster2712 Oh I never had any problems with the Grass gyms since I usually pick either fire or grass, the only time I got water was in Pearl since the final evolution Empoleon was Water/Steel! (Steel my favorite type!)

  • @cheesemonster2712 I know right? Every time I face them I get that strangled sensation of epicness that makes me take the battle very serious even if I know I can wipe the floor with them.

  • I grew up with Yellow, that I couldn't finish, and ended up playing Emerald... Some of the hardest stuff, considering I actually dilliberately put myself in bad situations.

  • RBY: A friendly competition between two trainers to see who's the best among the two.

GSC: A test in the challenger's path to see if they're worthy to progress.

RSE: A teaching battle to help the challenger grow and move higher. (In the middle of the music I can just imagine a gym leader giving advice in the anime...but they don't)

DPP: A battle for the badge. (Truthfully, I don't really know what to think of this one. Just sounds like a regular battle.)

  • oh geez! I never knew that the 3rd/4th generation music was so epic sounding! I'm thinking of getting these games now :3

  • my favs are R/S/E

  • Firered Leafgreen is my favorite

  • Kanto: This is going to be a hard, yet fun fight, that we'll never forget.

Johto: Oh no, what tragedy, a Gym Leader battle

Hoenn: Youre near to the badge but it's not going to be easy

    Sinnoh: I like cheese

  • @cheesemonster2712 My palms would sweat too!

  • 1st gen was the best for its challenge. 2nd was best because it was the first I played (totally valid point). 3rd was best for its music. I mean.. Listen to the fucking music! 4th was for introducing badasses like Garchomp, Infernape, Rampardos etc.

    They're all good.

  • @LalsMK91 yep

    5th is good because

    ,....

    well...loets just find out

but all i know is it will kick pure ASS

  • the older games seemed to have more of an echo in there peices it was incredible.

  • Gold/Silver were the best all around for their time. The music was awesome, and they were, up until their remakes, the only games in which you could go back and forth between two regions.

    Go Gold/Silver!

  • @wii12boy Actually in FRLG you can sorta go to a different region.

  • @wii12boy Not just that, but the graphics were a huge leap forward, and it introduced so many core gameplay elements like breeding, day/night cycles, and 2 new Pokemon types. G/S FTW.

  • @slightlyoutofreach01 i wish they'd make a pokemon version that let you pick region you wanted to start out with

  • @wii12boy AND CRYSTAL.

    DONT.

    FORGET.

    CRYSTAL.

  • @FamilyofSupernatural Crystal kicks ass. :3

  • I got to thank my Sister for finding a random Yellow Version at school. From there, I started to play Pokemon, and now... fun and competitively! Although I may have been discouraged to play Pokemon anymore in middle school, high school was different: pretty much anyone liked Pokemon or had no problem at all.

  • i still know the first gym leader i did...F*CK YOU BROCK WITH YOUR ROCK POKEMON ....*pikachu lies death on the floor again*...

  • @bassguitarmeastro Rofl XD

  • @bassguitarmeastro You should have turned on the sprinklers (TROLLFACE)

  • 1st gens the best

  • i haven't played any pokemon games in quite a while, yet i still know all of these by heart.

  • Sapphire was the first pokemon game I owned, before that I'd play a bit of my friend's yellow or silver... But anyway, I played sapphire so much that this music is making me think I'm playing the game right now. I'm trying to resist trying to find the game my mind thinks is nearby and playing it...

  • Original was deffo the best, it seemed so menacing and awesome, the others were ok, ruby and sapphire were awful, ok they had awesome pokemon, but the instruments for the music were awful as well as the arrangement. I'm hoping soon that the revert to their original sound

  • most gym battles has the same music like the Elite Fours except for Hoenn's

  • FR or LG?

  • HG/SS isn't here...

  • @PrincessParis811 the video was made in 2007 of course HG/SS isn't here

  • In all of the videos of pokemon music I haven't seen black or white themes.....

  • All the Pokemon gens music is awesome, maybe you're not used to the new style of music of the new games? o.0

  • Lmao at the Johto gym leader being the only change in the first gym leaders..

Brock, Roxanne and Roark all used rock types, whereas whatever his name was used flying types and that annoying Pidgeotto.. Just found that funny, lol.

  • Gym Leader music was always so damn epic.

  • Sinnoh

    Kanto

    Johto

    Hoenn

  • @Mafioshi hmm, i reckon hoenn>johto>kanto>sinnoh

    But they're all awesome.

  • @frogsta360 I'm not saying they're bad :P I think they're all awesome, but I like some of them more :p

  • @Mafioshi yeah same :P and were you reffering to the songs?

how do you feel about overall gameplay?

  • @frogsta360 Yes I was reffering to the songs :p Not sure about gameplay..eh :p..

    Johto

    Hoenn

    Kanto

    Sinnoh

  • @Mafioshi completely agree, though i just can't decide between Johto/Hoenn

  • @frogsta360 Hoenn is the best for me.

  • dat nosepass

  • @WillisDCade NICE BRO

  • Favorite Gym Leaders? =) that make the songs the most memorable when you fought with them?

Mine would be Brock and Sabrina for the first

then for the second, i think Claire and Falkner, and the one in Ecruteak

the third: Battling Wallace! He's awesome imo, too bad he was replaced in Emerald.

the fourth: sad thing i cant remember any to make this one memorable =/ maybe since i lost Pearl before i got to the fifth gym =/

  • order of the besty

    1kanto

    2isshu

    3sinnoh

    4hoenn

  • @alexadventures9 woops for got johto that goes in between isshu and sinnoh

  • 1. Kanto

    2. Sinnoh

    3. Hoen

    4 Jhoto

  • Personally this is just me but I think the Elite Four music has always had the best music.

  • ...I remember fighting to this with only one Pokemon left against the leaders :D

  • Here, I'd say D/P/Pt FTW :D

  • I Think the themes speaks for themselves:

Kanto: (Epic Excitement)Yeah, let's have a great batle!

Johto: (Suspense) I don't like how this goes

Hoenn: (Unexpected Surprises) Ok! I Came here for my gym badge

Sinnoh: (Hard And Dramatic Battle) Damn, i'm in troubles

  • @SeNThOxZ64 Isshu: (Upbeat Dramatic) Alright! It's go time!

  • The most epic techno comes from Pokemon ;)

  • so far i really like the gold and silver music next is pearl and diamond

  • Sadly, after R/B/Y and G/S/C, gym battles didn't seem as epic, probably due to the fact every gym leader felt like a remake of an old one. Gym leaders seemed to get whiny too. That and Wallace is less of a man than Misty.

  • @wonderiferoustea R/S/E gym leaders music sure gets me pumped up for a battle... Too bad D/P/Pt doesen't do that for me...

  • @wonderiferoustea And to be honest, neither of Hoenn or Sinnoh's gym leaders were whiny, that goes for Kanto too. But Johto, the only gym leaders that are whiny are Falkner and Whitney.

Falkner:"They say flying types get their wings clipped easily by a jolt of electricity... i'll never allow such insults to bird Pokemon!"

Whitney (after losing to you)"WAAAAAH! Waaaaah! You're mean! You shouldn't be so serious, you... child, you!"

  • i like the reverb

  • @Topoh98 It was Venusaur, and it scared me, too.

  • Damn i love the start of R/B/Y gym leader battle music.

  • hands down gotta give it to my Red Blue and Yellow for best gym leader theme sometimes u cant beat the classic (all good in the end)

  • The R/B/Y music kinda rocks a lot for the technology they had available at the time.

  • The Kanto region was amazing. I loved it so much. Then they came out with Jhoto and I was like, "OMG I never thought Pokemon could get any better that it originally was but it just got SO MUCH BETTER!!!" Seriously, I like Hoenn and Sinnoh too, but if I could choose, I wish they would have stopped at Jhoto. The plotline, character development, and Pokemon just completed the whole series and made everything so wonderful! *w*!!!

  • @ChibbySu kanto is bland though :P

  • what was that first pokemon cry? Was it a Muk?

It scared the crap out of me

  • Ok we all have to admit it.....the first one is the best it will always be!!so many memories back damm!

  • Johto!!!!

  • johto is the shit man

who gives a crap about sinnoh

kanto and hoenn are pretty good

  • @monkeykiller360 i think johto is the best as well, i hate sinnoh...

  • @irbricksceo yea i bought pearl and i think thay just tried to cram way too much into the game and lost heaps of good things. WAY too many legendaries for one. I mean they should have palkia and dialga for the version mascots and they should have azelf mesprit and uxie for the triplet legends (birds, dogs... if you can call suicune a dog etc.). Its ideas for pokemon kinda sucked too.The only good ones were lucario, garchomp, staraptor, luxray and the starters which all werent bad.

  • Wow i love R/S/E's brings back a lot of wonderful memories!!!

  • Kanto: Fine

    Johto: Masterpiece

    Hoenn: Ok

    Sinnoh: Good

  • Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald PWN. Hoenn is just my favorite region! then Johto 8'D

  • #1 : G/S/C

    #2 : R/S/E

    #3 : R/B/Y

    #4 : D/P/PT

Seriously, DPPT's gym leader music was, erm, so-not-very-nice as compared to the rest. G/S/C pwns IMO. 83

  • pokemon r/b/y are my fav

  • G/S/C is my all time fave

  • dude, hoenn gym leaders music fucking ass raped eveything. well, kanto's was pretty bad assed too though. i remember versing brock, he had that gang symbol thing going cross his chest, he was so aesome, but so easy though. i always one hit his whole team with my bulbasaur.

  • I hate D/P, it had the worst Music, Landscape, Graphics Style, Anime series, New Pokemon, Character Design, and anything else you can think of that you love about pokemon games. However HG/SS made up for that with awesome everything (excpet they still didn't fix the ugly graphics).

  • @MusicTrackers lol i wonder if all the people who made the pokemon music for every other region got assassinated lol. they got this new douche bag doin all of the recording. it freaking sucks man!

  • @MusicTrackers I dunno I think it was a lot better, I just think the menu system on D/p was bad.. and the constant changing between stylus and no stylus... HG/SS defeated that...

  • 1: Kanto (just plain epic)

    2: Ruby/Sapphire (I find its style original)

3: Johto (Not the best, but still great)

    4: Sinnoh: (Idk, I wasn't impressed much)

  • R/B/Y and G/S/C. How can you say no? :D

  • ever notice how R/S/E music focuses on getting rid of the horrible 16-bit music that they didnt look at how many horns were playing in all of the music

  • look at falkners hand...!

  • @fedupwithusernames Man, look at his eye.

  • i was born i 1st gen but i was really young, i started playing in late 3rd gen but in bought most of the games tho :)

  • @chidori1239 me too! i "borrowed" my brother's Yellow.

  • The orginal gym music is the best in my opinion

  • Omg RBY Nostalgia... I can always remember how hard Brock was because all I had was trusty old Charmander.. xD

  • martincordan same for me i started in the first gen era and my younger brother started his own pokemon game in the 4th gen area hes doesnt know how to train he spent way a lot of time playing (30 hours or so on soulsilver) then when i started heartgold it took less than half the time to get stronger then him and further than him.. pity

  • does IV gen gym music sounds better than III gen?

  • the easyist pokemon game was gold

  • @browderindahouse 3rd gym leader and her cow was a pain for me though.

  • @Et3rnix me 2 but if u do wat i do its really easy

  • @Et3rnix gah! me too!

  • Has anyone realized that they went from badish gold/silver graphics straight to good ruby/sapphire graphics?

  • anyone noticed how Falkner was the combo breaker in the 1st Gym Leaders. lol

  • The first 5 secs kick ass already

  • Man when i was 7 I walked in on my uncle playing pokemon and he showed me how to play it and now 5 years later I'am still playing it lol. THANK YOU UNCLE! I LOVE POKEMON!

  • @TheMarcus409 Replace the word pokemon with something inappropriate.

  • i cant believe some dude can actually play this on piano ;o

  • 3 of the first gym leaders in each generation use rock type pokemon: brock roxanne and roark

  • I love all the songs. But you can see how the songs are similar. They all are upbeat and make you feel like you are about to fight someone tough. Well that might be just me. :P

It makes me sad to see that R/S/E gets so much hate. That was by far my favorite gen.

  • @SilvarusLupus

I agree as I said in another video. It was a fun region to play through! And it brought a lot of different new styles (like natures and berry areas, as well as a stronger final trainer. Without him, Red in the new G/S would of been just as week back then.

It's funny, though, you're right. Pokemon music does know how to get you in the

    mood of whatever you're doing.

  • @SilvarusLupus same for me about R/S/E in my opinon it had some of the best pokemon

  • I really like Generation 3's music. There's one musical phrase in there that's really powerful. The phrase is stated at 2:42 and is restated throughout the piece.

  • the 1st theme made it seem like you were in the battle for your life. the 2nd feels like your facing an enemy instead of a gym leader. the third one sounds like your facing your rival.

  • I grew up with the classic stuff but I loved Generation 3. 4 is what kind of makes things weird. Gen 3 had a very "middle/near eastern" flavor to it which I thought was neat. The key however is to see everything as standalone, and out of all of nintendo's products I think the pokemon games coming out (not the spin off games) are the only thing that stays relatively the same.

    That's just my view anyway.

  • Brock will fuck your shit up

  • @kumflargin as long as your shit is female

  • @kumflargin SCREW THE RULES I'M IN LOVE WITH NURSE JOY

  • red/blue/yellow ftw, but gold and silver were epic when they came out too. The others just went downhill. This game never got old though. I remember senior year in HS playing this in the middle of a class with my friend, a link cable between our desks. Everyone thought we were pretty cool because anyone who grew up with pokemans thinks its the schntiz.

  • Seeing all the intelligent discussion of music files and proper training helps me to realize that I'm not the only grown person who never outgrew the addiction to these games. These games were a vital part of my childhood and one that I'll never forget or neglect. Nostalgia and Pokemon games FTW.

  • Falkner=0_e(uhgly)

  • I like the tune of the Gen III one, but the MIDI samples are terrible. Someone should remake it with better sounds.

  • My opinion

    1. Gen I & Gen II

    2. Gen IV

    3. Gen III

That's not saying much, either. If I had to grade them, none would get worse than a B.

  • The Hoenn gym leader music makes me feel so happy.

  • oooh my childhood!

  • for this i'd have to say:

    gen I: 10/10

    gen II: 9/10

gen III: 5.5/10 it just bugs me

    gen IV: 8/10

  • i agree with u Pokemon ruby and saphire was Blah i think it was the gameboy advance-ness i disliked about it too.

  • i'd say gen II was better than gen I.... but hey were entitled to our own opinions. : )

  • @anothernight42

Wow!! What was so bad about Generation 3? lol!!

  • what kind of drug did they put in pokemon to addict me so much??

  • Comment removed

  • that sounds like a pokemon lol, Herocain I choose you!

  • @guitarmaniack63 heroine yeah heroine is pokemon

  • The nostalgia!

  • This really takes me back. Good times, good times.

  • I've played all the games. R/B/Y to me is a classic and cannot be replaced. But my favorite theme out of all the Gym themes has to be R/S/E because of the time when it came out for me. I was older, it was the newest game on the newest system. I kicked its ass, and it whooped mine. STILL HAVEN'T BEATEN ELITE 4 HOENN SIDE! XD But Pearl. <3 Can't wait for 5th gen. Hoping for an edgier PKMN aimed at older teens.

  • Lol imagine a pokemon game that was rated M

  • @KZNOODL3

Or One that shows a post apocolyptic one...Thats actually a challange...

  • The ore region seems kinda post apocolyptic. it's conditions were explained away with the mention of it having a harsh eco system but they could have just vaguely mentioned some terrible disaster and it would've fit nicely. I bet they were going to but took it out because they thought it would be too dark.

  • @KZNOODL3

    "A critical hit!"

    Ash: "FUCK!"

    :P

  • Whats with random attack noises in the R/B/Y one? Lol.

  • OMFG OMFG I TOTALLY LOVED 2nd GEN GYM LEADER OMFGGGGG especially the asianish part due to gold and silver being based more on old Japan

  • Kanto:nice rythem and catchy

    Johto:sounds okay

    Hoenn:INSTRUMENTAL!!!pwn

    Sinnoh:good nice and addictive

  • DejaVu U_u

  • I remember liking the original gym battle theme from Blue and Red so much that I would purposely take forever when choosing a move. ha It's been so long since Silver and Gold, I can only remember bits and pieces of the theme. I never played Ruby or Sapphire enough to remember the gym battle theme, considering both games belonged to my younger brothers. I went out and bought pearl, and actually enjoy the music a lot.

  • I remember when the classics R/B/Y were extremely difficult back then because we were too young to understand how to train our pokemon. We either used ONE who was Lv. 50 while the rest were still in their 20's or so, and we'd rely on the legendaries to help us defeat the Elite Four, but even they weren't strong enough. Now Pokemon games are so much easier since we know how to properly train our pokemon, unlike before when we didn't, XD, man those were the days.

  • Ahh childhood ignorance...Man i miss the 90s!

  • @martincordon If you caught the Snorlax's it became significantly easier though

  • @martincordon

LOL i still do that xD i did it for sapphire, pearl, and heartgold. but i finished them! except in heartgold i havent attempted at finding red yet xD the other pokemon in my group are only 30, 45, 6, 7, and 20

i only pay attnetion to my starter and use the legendary ones to help me in the league ahaha
