  • Best Internet device EVER!

  • You know what is missing in the browser?

    Word wrapping.

A lot of pages aren't readable, because the browser doesn't wrap the text.

You either have to zoom out a lot, of have to scroll sideways constantly.

I am using Opera Mobile now, would prefer MicroB, but it just doesn't work for me on a lot of pages due to the missing word wrapping.

  • can u plz give me a web site to download .ipk file of nfsu for n900

  • Nokia had a really cool thing going on with the N900! What the hell happened?

Maemo had flash even before Android! Why dump it?

Maemo was really cool. Meego is just taking to long and isnt as good looking.

  • @M4TM777 I Had The N900 And Now I Have The N8, The Only Real Difference Is The Browsers, N900 Is WAY Better. Symbian 3 On My N8 Is Almost As Smooth, Stable, And Responsive As My Old N900 Was. After I Installed SPB Mobile Shell The Performance Is Damn Near Identical To The N900.

It's Funny To Me When You Said "Maemo had flash before Android" Symbian Had Flash Before Both Maemo And Android LOL

I Agree Nokia Shouldn't Have Dumped Maemo Though, That Move Wasn't Too Smart.

  • wow.. what great vdo.. thx 4 sharing...)

    ....

  • @aboulmorr go to menu>settings>About Product>version... :) u will know the version... if it is V20.2010.36-2 then it is PR1.3 else if it is V10.2010.19-1 it is PR1.2, and if it is V 3.2010.02-8(thou quite UNLIKELY to be) it is PR 1.1.... now if u have the PR 1.3 u have the latest...as for the problem...the best solution to all problem will be solved if u check the site maemo(dot)org :) and u can learn cool stuff too ...

  • @aboulmorr i guess youtube doesnt allow to post sites so...i will try 2 send it via email if u send me urs or perhaps post it on ur channel... check it and u will get it ... remember just add the catalogues the way it states.. and then downloads it and u will get VLC running on n900.... sorry i couldn't help u with the SIB ...

  • @aboulmorr aah one more thing ... it seems as if n900 cannot play videos above its resolutin 800x480.. so make sure that when ur running a video it is within that range... ;) and for FLV it straight away cannot play such a simple format :x!! bt never mind vlc will do the job ... ^-^

  • @aboulmorr and yeah ur welcome.. ;) its good help others !! :)

  • its both a phone and a tablet...but you can use it just as a tablet and i'm all over this one....

  • @KimThannSmiles this is not a phone, this is tablet pc

  • I hate this phone.... someone wants to buy it off from me?

  • how much?

  • @B5903 $300

  • flash ...that's something that Iphone's never gonna have because of the apple retarded policy. I'm glad I don't support Jobs, but Nokia which always goes the smarter way

  • Its a gr8 product but GPS without free Voice Navigation ,iTS just a waste of resources, I was planning to buy N900 , but now may I will go with Google or Motrola Andriod which provides all these features , I hate to do this , as I am used to NOKIA ?

  • Looks pretty neat. I'm thinking that my next phone might be a Maemo phone since Google has revealed that they're perfectly willing to add and remove software without notice or consent of the user (not as bad as Apple, but still bad, in my opinion). At the moment, though, I'm using Windows Mobile, and it's actually really cool, but I don't like what I see in the Windows Phone 7 series.

  • This is an excellent phone for those that want to do more than just make phone calls. All the features just announced on i-phone 4 are already present on this phone and more.

  • you can install it all free, lots of apps in app manager

    like radio

    mms

    itd..

can istal other systems like linux debian, meego, ubuntu...

best system at the moment, just cuz its open

  • I have this phone, HOW DO YOU EDIT THE MUSIC (on my phone)!!!!???? OR what music management program do you sync it with (tried OVI Music, does not work)?? please help! :(

My wifi is not connecting too, no help on nokia website!!

I have to pay $25 per month 2 years contract :(((((

  • @chrismj1982 you need to create a music file when you connect your phone and then drag music from your windows media/realplayer to the file and then when u unplug your phone it should automatically refresh itself and your music will appear.

to edit u need to go into files and look for whatever name u named ur music file and then u can edit and delete from there.

  • test

  • haha i really liked that COPY and PASTE thingy lol :D

  • is this an international phone?

  • THis phone sucks on battery life. worse than iphone. web is great for the max 4 hrs. its available. Nokia is doing horrible. so many sites have stopped selling it due to hardware issues. All of you needa get with the program and start saving for the *SAMSUNG GALAXY S* or *IPHONE HD* or even those new dell phones coming out next year. those shits are officiallll!

  • @KingJaZz0 - 4 hours u say? Broken u say? If u say so than u dont know much about it.

  • •UI only works in landscape mode (for now)

    •No smart and voice dialing

    •Outdated camera interface and features

    •No preinstalled voice-guided SatNav application

•No voice recorder, no MMS, and no handwriting recognition

•No FM radio application (despite that the hardware's there)

    •Limited third-party software availabilty

•Limited 3G support in the US (no AT&T)

Is it this nokia the latest model ? why didn't have those function ?? suck or nice??

  • @tzezai

For me it's still nice. You can get those apps for free (FM Radio , Voice Recorder).

Mind you that it's the first Nokia phone to use Maemo 5. Updates in the future will bring the N900 to it's best.

  • its really better than skyfire.

    (and faster)

  • His voice is annoying because he is not from an country where they speak english as their first language Duuuh,

    Check his name! xD

  • god this motherfuckers robot voice is annoying as fuck

  • Nokia, your OS really can't make it.

Symbian, Maemo...Ovi??? All very user UNFRIENDLY.

    Listen to your consumers

You should learn from HTC with Sense UI even Motoblur has got it right.

You will lose more market share if you keep making these kinda sets.

Invest more on R&D for UI not so much on futurist products.

Your core value is 'Connecting People' but you keep coming out with handsets which are cumbersome to use.

  • full flash is great... i hope the browser gets html5 support too

  • his voice is annoying

  • do this phone can see forex online

  • Do you want to make a question? Use this sign (')

  • I am inlove with it :)

  • do tis phone hv Quick office? free?

  • oh da best thing about this phone is you can actually play FARMVILLE!!

  • can i play forex

  • this is the bloody hell mobile which ever i use in my life.battery get discharge very fast, cant use card for recharging ,almost all r hell .sonu kurian

  • @cherikurian

Yea that's what happens when you have a smart phone. You use it more for complex things and your battery drains. Get somehing like XPAL2000

  • lmao

i love the price tag as well ==

  • wow pretty cool phone! and lol to the Miley Cyrus vid!...

  • Ahh, he had sxephil on youtube and he clicked on a miley video xD?

    n900 = awesome

  • cool gadget

  • Finglish!

  • I don't get the hype about MMS. iPhone 3g didn't have it at launch. Do people really use it? I find generally find e-mail more convenient... and cheaper. Especially with devices like this on market.

  • @ebaul Yes, Maemo is a tablet OS that Nokia have, thankfully, quickly popped into their phones to handle iPhone and Android. It's lacking a few phone OS features just now but they'll be along soon.

  • Finns rock. I like them. They are so depressed all the time due to the grey weather but they make me happy with their clever technological innovations.

  • This smokes Ipad I mean unless they come out with the idouche. But seriously folks this a nice machine.

  • hey its the dude from jkmobile...lol

  • All of these guys remind me of that movie Taken lol

  • hmm.. realy warming up to the n900 now.. its really good!.. hope its like it does everiting that the n810 did plus more. -and faster. the only thinks that makes me keep my n810 is the 1500mah battery and 4.1" screen.

to the n900 ,i really hope it catches on better than the previous ones so that more applications will be made !

  • Can you make a voice command phone call?

Like just say the person's name and it dials the number for hands free while driving.

    Thanks

  • No, you cannot.

  • Yes you can call skype calls through 3g. I just ordered mine. Amazing work from nokia. Everything looks good.

  • can you do skype calls through 3g?

  • My country abit late for this model, but i am hunger to get this phone, its brilliant!

  • this phone is awesome, but to expensive :D

  • @HDWOND9R : compare to iphone..n900's still a bit cheaper ( of course, out right iphone :) )

  • Very impressive phone! I'll buy it when I get my next salary! :D

  • Can you use a microphone in flash like say in stickam etc.?

  • OMG FARMVILLE.

    this phone is win :D

now i can play farmville 24/7!

    hahahahah just kidding :D

  • Yes U can

  • can you play mafia wars on facebook on this phone? please give me an answer

  • Yes You can. play all the flash and PHP/HTML based games.

You can play even all the games at the same time in real time with multiple screens opened.

  • thanks very much, you helped :D

    I love this phone!!!

  • i will have these phone the next week yeahh baby im rocks

  • I ordered this phone on the 7th through amazon, estimated delivery was the 15th, got pushed back to 18, then the 21st, now its the 23rd... HAS ANYONE THAT ORDERED THIS PHONE AFTER THE 7TH RECEIVED IT. I REALLY WANT IT FOR CHRISTMAS

  • Nokia, you gotta stop using symbian, stupit OS. Look at this N900 OS, much better.

  • eloel its maemo

  • This is a tablet. You can't use this OS for phones. If Symbian is bad take a look at WM. I haven't used Symbian in many years but it can't be worse than WM.

  • This is a phone...

  • it's a phone that has a better configuration and perfomance than my desktop pc 8 years ago...lol

  • @kotapaka

learn about the product befor you go and make your self look like a retard

  • I hate that the phone doesn't support MMS...but still a good phone

  • Who needs the old MMS function, just send an e-mail. its cheaper and easier.

  • @powerkiller1994 not everybody have e-mail or cheap internet prices so of course there's mms. Btw Nokia was the first phone what had text messages

  • There is an MMS app out for the n900.

  • It's not "the youtube", it is youtube, the real website, with real flash.

    The iphone youtube sucks.

  • Great reply...I think this device is for big boyz not for kids...

it was double the pixels than iPhone.. that is great..

  • And how do u work that out, youtube looks awesome on here, and its going through the actual website, not an app, and that is pretty dam impressive

  • ya its true that youtube sucks on Nokia but remember that u have not seen this device yet in real.

It is going to be a big boyz toy not a beautiqueen...

Lets wait and watch for the final device...

  • wiiv piin wörking wit atope to ket fläsh tu te sellpoun

  • OMG are you serious is Nokia from Finland ? O.e FFS Iam finnish xD

  • People from Uzbekistan and English dont go very well.... its sounds like challa challa herme herme... Well lets talk about the phone xD Its gonna be the best phone 2009! cant wait ! :D

  • @pullukka, Nokia is from Finland, and those names are Finish. not anywhere NEAR Uzbekistan. trust me, my family has had exchange students from both countries.

  • i like how after ripping and scamming the n97 buyyers and me , they release what we want after we just spent 600 dollars on a phone with scratched lenses, terrible dead pixels and a phone that cannot load

  • true true but thats why u wait for a few weeks after the release and watch the reviews to avoid those prob... just saying

  • Yup - but there are already a lot of angry N900 owners with mic failures, random reboots and other serious bugs. Hope this gets fixed very soon.

  • I go to buy this

  • this guy is a CUTIE!!!!=)

  • impressive for the first maemo based os...

  • 2:15 - 2:21

That guy is so faggy lol

  • lol... the eyebrow thing haha.

  • I dislike the toy-like iphone marketed to supposedly understated yuppies.

I like the droid's navigation, but this browser looks way cool

  • this is kinda funny:)

relax guys:) he's right ...learning another lang ain't always that easy and YOU WILL ALWAYS HAVE an accent:)

  • at least he speak more than 1 language, you just one, and don't do it great.

  • The guy on this video seems to be finnish and because swedish is Finlands 2nd official language and compulsory in school, it's likely to make english his 3rd or 4th language. Wouldn't be surprised if he speaks germany too because that's quite common also. Plus as a language finnish is soooooo far away from english it's really hard for native finns to pronounce it unless they speak it regularly. That seems to be the case here as his vocabulary and grammar seems to be much better.

  • Yea, just like Kimi Raikonnen!

People from Finland and English dont go very well.

  • its more common in denmark and sweden .. not quite sure about sweden, but in denmark it is ..

  • @crazywaters someone needs to tell you that you should learn something what's not english or even close to it so you know how hard is it learn so different language

  • I really wish i had money... i would buy one of these babys in a heart beat! just look at the amazing specs!! just 2 years ago this would have been impossible.

I would use this for gaming but i already have a PSP and there are pretty talented emulator coders out there.

Anyone want to trade an LG Dare and 200 bux for this :P

  • too bad the phone is mainly in landscape mode

  • It's not a phone. Maybe you didn't know that. It's a tablet with a calling function.

  • Chalger

    its a phone u fool-a SMART PHONE

Do you know the meaning of SMART P.H.O.N.E??

with portrait-it would have been easier to write a quick text message rather than use both hands all the time even when simply texting when in a hurry

  • If you're just out to troll, then don't read on. If you seriously haven't heard about Nokia's plans for this phone, then I can help you. At launch,it will have some portrait content (phone, photos). There is already 3rd party portrait software out; (media player), and Nokia will update the firmware so that most things (including messaging) can be used in portrait. To do that before launch would have delayed it by a further month.

  • Chalger is right this is a tablet PC that added call functions. Nokia does NOT consider this a smartphone but a hybrid between smartphones and netbooks.

You really didn't read his reaction completely did you? I think chalger understands the n900 a lot better that you do.

You completely mist the currently incompleted porttraid mode which will be resolved a in a month.

So stop bashing others if you don't what you are talking about yourself.

    End

    Ps

I want a n900 but is it better than my e90?

  • so are u the Nokia spokesman to say that Nokia does not consider this a smartphone?Nokia is losing out to BB and Iphone smartphones and came up with this as a challenger

I use a nokia but the N900 Still needs more work to be done e,g. texting on portrait, weight reduction, virtual keyboard like iphone, and possibly a price reduction. That would make me upgrade to the n900

  • iphone fan boy? ahh

  • Portrait mode is in development and will be released as a firmware update at some point. :)

Although it's chunkier than some phones due to the keypad, its not too heavy. It's a manageable size and weight which wont be a problem for most users.

It already has a virtual keyboard as far as I know - I believe I saw it once in a video.

  • lol iphone user talking?

How about you find us an app that will increase the camera resolution, screen resolution, add a hardware keyboard, videocalls. Blackberry user?Blackberry's idea of a touchscreen is a button????? Sure:-). The Rim interface is mainly a million icons in one place and shitloads of text.... Oh yea and there is an app for that too.

  • i dont use the iphone-I use the Nokia 6300 and have a 16mbps internet connection at home with a 23 inch HDTV

i get the internet at home-and can get it at work-therefore i find no need to upgrade to this phone

Besides-i have an xbox360 for games too

i see no need to upgrade to this phone but i may change my mind if it improves on some firm are features

  • BEST PHONE EVER OMG its the fastest ive ever seen and damn i want this he was playing farmville lol im addict to that game so wow

  • can i watch hd content like youtube hd or quicktime?

  • Yes, you can. Though, it most likely won't be needed, due to the resolution|size of the screen.

  • Mikko you'r OK

  • Is it possible to have portrait mode to browse internet, play music, etc, with a future software update?

I think is no good having portrait mode, only for calls and phonebook.

    And MMS please!

  • Nokia have confirmed that portrait mode will be supported. 3rd party developers can make apps any way they want, and there are already portrait media players available (before launch). I've heard mixed comments about MMS though - Nokia have said it wanted to encourage facebook, email usage for sending pictures, but I've never heard Nokia say that the N900 was incapable of MMS. It will probably be supported via 3rd party developers, like the FM receiver, front camera and portrait mode.

  • Hi hope so!

    Thank you for your reply!

  • Best demo so far...very clear and understandable.

  • so what was it that he pressed @4:44 to get the open apps? was it ctrl+backspace?

Also, does anyone know if its possible to add notes or calendar entries to the desktop like it was on symbian in the active idle? i found that very useful.

  • You can customise the 4 desktops as you like - including calenders, contacts (with online status), live bookmarks etc. There's a whole range of shortcuts, which i think will be good. Now they just need to launch it.

  • OMFG i am so fucking selling my n97 for this phone I WAS SO DISSAPOINTED WITH N97 and was going to move on to iPhone 3gs but god damn now NOKIA just hooked me back in this has definictly killed every phone out there. Smooth Linux maemo, for the love of god FLASH! and specially 3D games. Now the only thing i hope is for it to deliver a lot of apps and have developers work on games for this phone!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This is not the device you want if you want lots of 3D games. There will be some, but it's not intended to compete with the PSP or DS - it's strengths lie elsewhere. If games are what you want on a phone, go for the 3GS - this might be a bit too complicated for you.

  • @franny87

forget the 3D games, you can play the SNES Marios on this bad boy lol. Coupled with a Wii remote and the TV Out cable, prepare to nostalgia

  • @ cirkusarena i know what kind of games does 3gs has and i've played lots of them. But you have to admit it's about time for nokia to deliver something like this and upgrade the N-Gage with better games because it was suposed to deliver games. Last game i ever enjoyed was metal gear for the N-Gage other than that no more because they all looked like crap. PSP and DS would be too big and wouldn't want to carry that much just to play game so i would like to pass my time on the phone and it's games

  • franny- this is not designed for gaming, nor is the iphone. DS and PSP have joysticks and dedicated buttons, and the problem with Ngage is the same as Android developers are facing. Too many different handsets make it difficult to find a standard. Myself, I do my gaming at home, online- but like small bursts of simple gaming whilst on the bus etc. N900 however has Open GL, which means it's VERY easy to port Open GL PC games (like Quake 3) over - more than likely for free!

  • @ richjamacian i agree is fun with the snes i had fun with sonic on my n97 sorta. BUT is time for new games like iphones on a nokia since n-gage promised us fun games and all they have is like 20 max lol i really hope developers work on games for the n-gage as well while they do it on the iphone so nokia users can play games too!

  • Das is good ya? Lol

  • espero y lo vendan en mi pais mexico y que claro no lo vallan a vender en casi $1,000 dollares

  • Desktop Tower Defence on this thing? People will never get any work done. Dangerously addictive.

    Bravo!

  • LOL, George Lopez!

  • 0:31 he said f***

  • This runs Maemo and that is built on Linux. As anyone one in the know will tell you Linux has very solid security with user space and system space being separated. As for spyware or viruses, tell me one that works well on Linux I am all ears.

  • "on normal pc's there's spyware, malware, trojans etc. & you need some sort of defense software like antivirus."

You mean PC's that have Microsoft Windows installed on them.

"what do these mobile pc's have?"

Nokia is using Maemo, a modified version of Debian GNU/Linux, slimmed down for mobile devices.

"if they haven't got ample defense then its just basically internet suicide."

An OS that is more secure by design in the first place is a better defense than any antivirus can give you.

  • "especially if you use it for any banking details"

If you're serious about security you're not going to be using any mobile device over a wireless network for banking transactions in the first place. This is not a problem with Maemo itself: Wireless networks are inherently insecure despite the most strident defences of various protocols and encryption. They can be cracked.

  • "if i want internet i'll use this one thats not perfect but more secure than mobile bar none."

I assume you're thinking of a PC with Windows on it. Sorry to burst your bubble but using Windows for online banking transactions is just plain dumb and far less secure than using GNU/Linux either on a live CD or fully installed.

  • The browser of N900 is just impressive.

  • This PDA/Cell is OFF THE HUUUK! Nokia never ceases to amaze me! Thank you for releasing a Linux-type OS. As soon as I can afford this phone, I'm buying it. I just received word from AT&T in the US that they support the network.

  • Finally we have something that is better than the iPhone! What an amazing device. I will buy this as a gift to myself soon after it gets on the market. I sure hope they don't forget Mac syncing, but I have good faith that will be arranged soon. It should be easy to do because both have Unix-like OSes.

  • u serious? The nvide tegra phones is literally 100 times better then iphone. Xperia x 2 is also up there to

  • I am hoping they don't forget Mac syncing either

  • Agreed!

  • Amin to that

  • first of all congratulations to Nokia & the maemo community for bringing such an awesome device! The Maemo5 OS is such a work of art. However, i really do wish that nokia release another smartphone w./ the same OS but with a diferent hardware (like capacitive screen & maybe a N900 mini (w/o physical qwerty)) Yeah, im not a fan of physical qwerty as i have been terribly used to type on my iPod Touch! LOL!

  • sorry, but your english is soooooooooo hard to hear :(

  • The only thing I wanted on this was an optical mouse pointer (like on the Archos 9). The "swipe from the left" to activate a mouse pointer is too fiddly.

  • This blow the iphone out of the water.

  • lolzzz... tthis is truly the multimedia computer in your pocket , with full flash support i can now let my girls play farm vill on facebook without issue , its time for me to sell my n97 =[
