I love when the jury sets the bail and then they all grin deviously. Hilarious. I loved this as a seven year old, and I love this still as a 46 year old.
Haha, that was great! I haven't seen it since I was 4 years old... Funny thing is, I remember only the part with the two boys "and it looks like a fish hook"... I remember that part well...
The part where they're spelling out words, I don't recall very well... Guess I couldn't spell then :-D
And yeah, great music. I recall the music dimly...
That was pretty cool jazz music. They did alot of great jazz stuff on those shows that I didn't appreciate as a child but I do notice and appreciate now. Great cartoon too. Also, I suppose we shouldn't use windshields on our car either, seeing as how they kill so many bugs.
I remember this! I like the jazzy-like tune. Like tubricant mentioned, it's like the 'Virgil and the Letter V' tune, but I can hear snare drums more distinctly in this one. Also, it seems like another clip that goes back to 1969, where a boy (animated) erases things ('1,2, erase my shoe...'), has a similar kind of music. Last but not least, too bad that
'executioner' doesn't start with 'j.' Just joking!
Fun fact: The live-action man seen at the beginning of the video is Dr. Gerald S. Lesser, who was chairman of CTW's board of advisors from 1969 to 1996.
Does anyone know why 'Jammed' is the only J-word in the story that wasn't spelled out?
This reminds me of those other letter-stories with kids and a moral. There's one for A (archer and ant) and L (Leopard and Lion). Any others? I loved those as a kid.
Yea I remember it being on the show too. I was 3 when it premiered, so I'm also a first generation viewer. ^5 to us who grew up with it in the late 60's and early 70's and still remember it.
I'm pretty sure I remember seeing this on the regular show.
The deep-voiced guy sounds like Gary Owens, who did some other stuff for the show. (And note the reference to "Here Come de Judge", an old comedy bit revived by "Laugh-In" about the time this was in production.
This was the very first animated film ever commissioned for Sesame Street, but I wonder if it was ever actually used in the show itself. It may have not made the final cut. I have a suspicion that it didn't, but if anyone saw it when they were a kid, then I'm wrong.
When were you in the "target" age? I was a mid/late '80s tot---much of the ancient stuff was still in circulation then. (Sesame Street: The only place where the '70s lasted thirty years! =)
I was 7 months old when Sesame Street premiered, so I would have been in its target age group in the early to mid 70s. When I would watch the show with my mother, she would often describe things from the earliest episodes that I was too young to remember clearly.
That sounded like the narrator from the Odd Couple as the voice of God. Can two boys hear a story about the letter J without driving each other crazy?
I remember this video this was also by request by another user but was not uploaded by request. Thanks for this video. I haven't seen this video a long time. Thanks for uploading.
So it's actually illegal to keep a junebug in a jar -let alone stuff it in a tire pump?

A foreshadowing of early 90's rap.

Awesome. I vaguely remember this. I was born in 1971 so they probably did not play this much when I would watch it.

Joe learned something, too. Now he knows how the poor junebug felt.

I love these clips from the late 60's and early 70's(1968-1974).

This music was used also for the Virgil Veep clip about the letter V. Check that out; it's hilarious and you'll remember it.

What was the live action film supposed to be?
Maybe we could see that as well.
MIKECNW 4 years ago
The live-action film was from the Sesame Street Pitch Reel, in which Dr. Lesser explained how this skit was produced.

Same music from the one cartoon about the letter L. "Never leap on a lying Lepoard"

You are correct, sir. Gary does the "Voice of God" for this one. IIRC, he also did it for the letter D (Dog and Dinosaur).
