I guess that's one thing you could do with it. I went a different route with my '86 SCIROCCO and re-wired mine to alert me if I get out of the car with my headlights left on. I unplugged it a while ago but I always had a feeling it might come in handy for something, some day. My rocco has European headlights w/city lights on it, so I'm glad I hung on to my buzzer:- )
