Saw her in Berlin in the early nineties - she really is a miracle to me and this concert was Magic. I'm the same age as her and erverytime I hear her voice i feel touched very very deep inside. When I first heard this version I was amazed.

It is so peaceful, so quiet... I close my eyes and feel so fine. I picture myself sitting on a porch looking at the stars with the crickets chirping. Beautiful!

Perhaps you should take a swig of alcohol before listening to this song in order to BEGIN understanding this piece. Also study some Louisiana history about the Bayou. That may help you understand where the arranger and vocalist were headed.
