This is unbelievable. I think they are right up there with Blue Nile and Talk Talk (SOE and Laughing Stock). This is atmospheric/emotionality to a whole different level. It's the type of music that makes me wonder how everyone doesn't "get it". You find a band like this and it's like finding a $20 bill on the sidewalk- you don't expect it, it makes your heart jingle and you never get over that sudden burst of euphoria. You want to tell people about it, but sadly, many won't appreciate it...
@xStevieHurricanex So satisfied, leave without a trace You taught me doubt, still you do it again And it's high, high time I found myself on the road Educate myself 'til it hurts And it's high, high time I satisfy what it takes It all just seams so differently That's the biggest joke of all You know it's the biggest joke of all And it's high time I recognized To do it again, it's crawling outside my walls I can't forget where I've been I can't tell you anything at all
One of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard. If this song was a girl I would ask her out and of course she wouldn't even dignify that with an answer, she'd just laugh. So I send her a friend request on Facebook but she ignores it. But score, her profile is public so I can still ogle her pictures and Photoshop us holding us holding hands and what our kids would look like. What was I talking about? Oh yeah, incredible song.
@mario6279 Check out the second half of Brian Eno's Before and After Science (By This River, Julie With, Through Hollow Lands). Also check out Epic45, there's some good stuff of theirs on Youtube.
This song is perfection. I remember listening to this with an old "friend" at the wee hours of the night, just driving and lounging around the city, the feeling brought by it was amazing,
The people that listen to this kind of music are a different breed. Those two 'highest rated' comments are inspiring. You wont find that kind of expression in many places on the internet. Props to all of you post-rock disciples
i found myself walking the grounds of my college campus one cool sunday evening, puffing on my favorite cigarillos with Bark Psychosis in my ears. I started my trek at 7 and didn't return home 'til 11.. one of the most reflective, calming and beautiful time frames of my life.
When I first got into them, our family was going on a holiday in Scotland. On the way up we stayed overnight at a B&B in Berwick-upon-Tweed; I stayed up all night sitting in the bay-window, listening to this album on my walkman, watching the occasional car go past, and an endless field of waving cereal crops beyond. For me this is the the absolute essence (along with Laika - Sounds of the Satellites) of night music
Nice story! I first properly listened to this LP biking home in the midsummer sunrise from in Amsterdam. Watching the sun rising and reflecting over the canals, and observing the occasional late night raver and delivery men with Hex on the headphones was too gorgeous an experience for words.
Why is it that true art, like this, often gets overlooked... It just boggles my mind when I hear the shit on MTV, and then listen to this. Hex is a masterpeice.
I have a hard time understanding it too PointThree, but good music will always stand the test of time regardless of exposure. The album is just as vital and interesting as it was in the early 90s, you definately can't say the same for 95% of the music that appears on MTV.
amazing guitar sound. Every time i hear this song i always think the bassline is gonna fall out of time... but it never does of course. Truly fantastic song.
seen these guys in a theatre in Glasgow in 94. Only a handful of people witnessed the beauty and ferocity. If i had the money i'd post a copy of HEX through everyones door. we should kill all the demons who are sent here to lower the standards. Put them in one place and let the mighty MOGWAI crush them with some low frequency resonance. Tesla on base. Peace.
taking into consideration this band is from the uk, the pronunciation of the word "joke" may sound a bit off to American ears. if that train of thought doesn't help though, perhaps COMMON SENSE might point you in the right direction. Bark Psychosis is killer by the way.
Thank you very much for posting that video. Do you know if there are some recordings of concerts of Bark Psychosis ? I would be interested to know them, especially if Lee Harris was playing with them. Thanks.
i have been a fan of BP for a while now and I am very pleased with this. It seems a lot of people don't even know who they are. I can't find anything about them hardly and am tempted to make a video to my favorite song. In fact, it's Big Shot.
very good job on the vid and I applaud you for your taste in this beautiful post-rock band. I adore you, whoever you are!
Youtube actually recommended something worth listening to.

This is not music. It's something more, something undefinable. And it should stay that way. Real music isn't music.
