  • That is what I call a good example of "applied bunkai", which can be done by experienced students. Coming to fight I prefer the interpretation of Iain Abernethy, but the principle of the Kata is demonstrated in a very good, not confusing way. Please, take my deep respect for your work shring with us. With a deep bow, Oss

  • Great movie!

  • 3:48 "pull and break their neck" Killing someone sounds a little harsh lol. But yea thanks for the vids man :D

  • @d123a123n these techniques were made when self-defense meant saving your life, not just getting away from a drunk in a bar

  • Thank you for your interpretation of the Kanku Dai application. I just started learning this kata so this is very helful....Oos

  • by the way the idea of martial art being good at both stand up and grappling is not new. karate is a very old system that includes both stand up and grappling as in judo since both came from the original jujitsu its just as a sport judo or karate focus on either stand up or ground but as an art they encompass every thing striking and grappling its just that most ppl dont make it past green belt but i think once good thing about mma is that it could force karate to focus more openly on grappling

  • no more vids on the old guy with the glasses please. Look at his uraken, then elbow strike. Please, it hurts too much to watch and others might copy him. Who the hell was his teacher???

  • some people are retarded beginners at martial arts they got mma and now they think its an art

got news for you its not its just a ring fight not an art there is no system to it a bit of this and a bit of that and you losers think you know some thing.

    by the way good bunkai

  • point taken, but it's a bit over-simplistic in its description of mma. they're not just a bunch of barbarians who beat each others brains in daily. most of them embark on a full study of the main 3 arts that comprise mma. muay thai (or whatever their striking art is) ...wrestling, and bjj (or whatever their ground art is)...too many misconceptions on both sides IMO

  • the point was that mma is not a system or an art the you go and learn

it is a sport where because both striking and grappling are needed ppl learn more then one thing. but ppl go around thinking they can learn mma and that is not possible, what you are learning is 3 separate arts and then using them in the ring. so until they make a standard of those arts combined then you are not learning any such thing as mma and i wish it would stop being promoted that way, its propaganda and miss education

  • wonder how many people said that about karate 150 years ago lol ...the point is, mma is an art just like karate, gung fu, judo...etc. they're all mixed. it's just (usually) not geared for self defense. and it's not traditional so everyone says its not a style or art. mma is the art of mixing arts, which is exactly what karate is by definition. there is no such thing as a pure style. when you learn mma, you're learning (ironically) ..mixed martial arts. like learning judo and karate.

  • muito bom facil aplicaçao e aprendizado

  • fuck it off u posting comments guys do not really know the karate......juz think about someone punches you n ur respond is punch the person back,u dint block then strike in.This causes you injures....use ur mind.....

  • ok u obsesses mma ass whips, if ur so arragant on mma...why the hell are u watching bunkai?....u have to understand this is jus an interpretation of the kata...not some step dance u for u guys to insult. stick to mma vids!

  • whoa, the last technique can kill lol

  • Thanks for sharing

  • Sometimes, people do agree to fight on the streets, but sometimes people are blindsided by an attack. However, these apps are easily adapted to closer distance.

  • Once again, the applications are similar to shorin apps. The difference is minor, the distance. The applications shows are at "sport" distance, or a distance that happens when two people agree to fight.

  • Nothing is as easy or goes as smoothly as demonstrated even in MMA.Want a quick lesson in MMA .Rush your opponent throwing a flurry of punches toss in a few half hearted kicks tackle his legs take him down pound the crap out of him. .Pracxtice that over and over your an instant MMA master.Street fighters have been doing that crap for centuries to call it art is insulting.

  • Hey ^ herd of Muy Thai, Kick Boxing? and these "tackles" ever herd of Judo? Brazilian Ji-jitsu ? Greco-Roman wrestling?. The ground game is more complex then putting him on the ground and throwing punches.

  • then i guess you dont really understand the stand up game. its just as complex as the ground game.

  • See Lyoto Machida karate "tackles" moron.

  • Interesting. Far from the worst bunkai seen and does use some sensible principles IMO. I think the point made about the elbow strike is valid.. If you hit the side of teh head with your elbow the attacker is very unlikely to be holding on and therefore the twist would not work. However if the elbow strike missed, then you could use the twist. Not that realistic as the attacker only performed one technique.. in reality they come in with several.

  • this shit would not work in a real fight..tht grab thing wouldnt work,,,no onr tht stupid would still hold on after a punch and a elbow....MMA is the martial arts nowa days....theres no real traditional styles for real fighting only a few if tht....

  • fantastic

  • I really like this interpretation of kanku, where is this filmed?

  • Florida
