I want an evo cuz that awd and with a boost controller from bushur (imo best for modding evos) u cud get that insane forced induction then switch it up and make a daily drive with good gas mileage

  • badass rx7 with an ls1 in it and once again for less than 6k you have a car that will dog the Evo all day. Yall gotta stop comparing these two damn cars because there are some Evo's that will stomp ya all day and there are civics that rape vipers. It comes down to what you have installed. My Si now has the comptech stage 2 and has 300whp but I got slammed by a trans-am the other day with a damn ls1. It comes down to who has more money and whther you want a daily driver or not.   • When it comes down to it, and yes these are after reading alot of biased posts. The Evo is better handling from it's AWD and has better launching. Civic si with just greedy evo 2 exhaust system, injen cold air intake, comptech stage 1 supercharger with hondata reflash and race headers puts over 269whp because my si is getting stage 2 comptech super charger kit soon and I will be over 300whp. The damn Evo is overpriced when you look at what it is. Sure put 800 in it and have a

  • so let me get this straight. comptech supercharger stage one makes the si 269 hp and stage 2 makes it 300 hp?

    9-10 psi + bolt ons = ~300 hp

    i dont think its worth the added stress on the motor + you need to change the injectors too

  • @mjeatsies Probably the most important question... is it your daily driver? Mine is my daily driver, and my dad has an 87 grand national (turbo) so I already have my fill for turbo sexiness, but it terms of reliability, the stage 1 CT-Engineering takes the cake. I've heard nothing but good stories with stage 1. It's pricey, but that saying, "You get what you pay for," really comes into play here. Also, stage 1 IS CARB legal. :)

  • This outcome is of no suprise to me. A stock Evo puts down 225whp and weighs 3300 pounds or more. The Civic is probably between 230-250? And im sure is 3000 pounds or less.

    Of coarse its still driving that can help in any race, but this video should not be too much of a suprise to anyone.

  • No matter how you put it these cars ARE NOT direct competitors as the Evo is much more expensive and offers a higher level of performance stock vs stock. In terms of reliability, Honda's with correct tunes, proper maintenance, quality parts and correct installation of those parts have proven to be as reliable as their stock counterparts. Honda has earned a good reputation for reliability yet Mitsubishi has yet to do so.

  • Love the EVO but people make it so overrated. An EVO can be dealt with by a front wheel drive cars in handling. FF cars when tuned right have INCREDIBLE corner entry speed and with left foot braking and e-brake assistance to cope for understeer you can exit fast as well. I love EVOs but AWD honestly bores me. It takes less effort and skill to drive through corners. I'll take the same guy's civic in this vid and beat the shit out of an EVO in the corners. SKILL is one mod you can't buy...

  • it's still front drive, and why should you have to pull an ebrake around corners? it only makes you look stupid.

  • Because if you enter a corner too fast and it takes more than left foot braking to make it through then the e-brake will slide the rear tires out to line the car up in the corner so you can save your self from under steering off the road and exit the corner safely. you simply flick it and let it down really fast of course while transitioning through the corner. Even professionals do this in races like touge battles or mountain passes.

  • Properly tuned, the EVO X would destroy ANY s/c civic si. My buddy has a tuned X and its pushing 330WHP with 315Ft Lbs Tq.. Once he upgrades his turbo, he'll be pushing well over 400WHP. BTW, the handling stock on that car is .99 with super AWD.. There's no well in hell ANY Si is hanging on any corner with the X..no way. Turbo charge that K20 and find out how much faster the car really is. S/C is the less expensive way out but not the best for power gains.

  • Yep no Hondas come with AWD, ASC and AYC or anything close...An Evo X around a circuit track is sick even stock.

  • How much is the si new. 21,22k? Plus the 5k for the supercharger... Then you have 26-27k dollar vs a 30k dollar car. I love the evo and the Honda. But both cost too much for me... I'm buying a used rsx-s. :-)

  • intake, exhaust and retune with ecutek... that evo x could make well over 330-350hp easily... shyt with just a retune ona full factory motor... the evo x can pull out 280-290hp... wouldnt recommend launching hard on a stock clutch though... they can only handle so much... nice sounding Si... rematch with a tuned X please...

  • Good race, but unfortunately for the SI the Evo x owner just needs to put a drop in filter and a tune and the evo will be hitting close to 300 awhp then bye bye SI. With a full bolt ons then you would be in the 350-400 range depending on what octane.

    To the person said who said the X's launch was weak your absolutely right. the launches in the vid are the first launches i ever did in my X and in a AWD car all together. believe me i got a lot better and 2 step is easy.

  • I could be wrong but I thinkg they put in a stock rev limiter at 5000 rpms for 1st gear launches to protect the drivetrain for the evo 10s

  • Do not say that fwd cars are failures because you probably do not even own a car, and they are great in turning because the si has incredible handling, I like evos but this si would dog the hell out of it.

  • Ya i really dont thing the si will dog the evo in the handling department. be on the evo's ass? maybe depending on the driver but stock for stock the handling of the evo is far superior.

    Believe me i had a supercharged si like the one in the vid before the evo. put about 5k in parts in my Si. put about 800 in my evo and im making more power. thats why i went to the X. and the X being ugly is all personal opinion. I think the 8th gen civic and X are both beatiful.

  • i agree, i own an 09 si right now and came from an 07 s2000. but the money put into an EVO will definitely pull on the Si. the only argument is, the si cost about 15k less. so if you want to add it all up, with 15k into an si you would have a pretty fast beast.

  • That's my thoughts. Yeah, both stock, the evo is faster..but it's also about 15k more expensive. If you put 15k for mods into the SI, you come out better.

  • making a boosted engine doesnt make the company great! ur on there dicks like they are engineers. mitsu subaru and vw are lazy by makin turbos in there cars. turbo is for diesel engines, semis. the day any of those companies can make an engine that churns out 200hp per liter ill buy . hey honda made its 1st turbo engine and guess wut, its in a suv...go figure!

  • anyone can make a high compression engine like honda. i-vtec and vtec are modest technologies at best, bmw's vanos and valvetronic and the new VVEL from nissan kick their ass. however, high compression doesn't mean reliable. a low compression boosted engine gives more options for modification and MUCH more power per $. honda is nothing when it comes to naturally aspirated vehicles..there are makers that have been in their league for years. esp when theyre still front drive i4s.

  • Hey Silent I agree with you the si's r great... they r 4 cylinder ALL MOTOR N/A (naturally aspirated) cars that are better then ne car in it's class that's all motor and does NOT have forced induction (Cobalt ss/tc, wrx sti, evo). you do a stage 1 turbo in an si and the si beats the above mentioned cars... but u'll need a less restrictive intake/exhaust system with the turbo just lyk the above cars... so to sum it all up SI's r great

  • How do you explain the 300hp Ford Focus RS beating the Ford GT around the ring? FWD has come along way. Yes RWD/AWD will always have an advantage but it's being more and more slight as the years go on.

  • The first race is legit. A stock evo x puts down between 235-245whp while the si's setup is probably netting him around the same whp as the evo. So from a roll its a very tight race but from a dig the evo should jump ahead. Then one has to think about power/weight ratio but that's a whole topic in itself. In any case it came down to a driver's race so kudo's to both of you guys for keeping it so close.

  • im the owner of the evo, it had about 400 miles on it when these races happened and it was the 1st time for me racing the evo x, so i was learning lol its a tottaly diff beast then a supercharged Si which i had before. A charged Si will be a stock Evo X from a roll, once its modded its a different story. Yes i mishifted in the races except the first and last one. All in all good race with one of my Bro's :)
