Warum sie lacht? Bei diesem Stück passiert es sehr leicht, dass der Chor zu tief singt (liegt an der komosition) dadurch, dass die Dirigentin scheinbar lacht, will sie erreichen, dass die Tonhöhe gehalten wird, also nicht tiefer wird. So einfach ist das.

Actually, the "smile" is to remind choirists to keep the correct intonation. Not an easy task, though.
