That's the Ella Lola belly dance and it was filmed in 1898 (I can't verify that trough firsthand experience). I looked her up the IMDB and saw she was born on September 2, 1883 in Boston, making her 15 years old when this was done. Interestingly there was no death date...if she's still out there, we need to know! Tee-Hee =D

This was extremely daring stuff back then. In fact, it's the root of modern burlesque. After the World's Fair, where Americans were introduced to "oriental" dancer, Little Egypt, many promoters began presenting their own versions of "Little Egypt" and her dance. It wasn't just the movements that were so shocking then; it was the fact that the dancers wore no corsets, so people could actually see jiggling flesh when the dancers moved. So those dancers were "naked" by Victorian standards!
