@theguymay He's a protagonist in the game, but not the very 'real', he fights the black mage with Aran, Evan, and Mercedes. It makes him a part of the group of heroes, for short he's not, well the story said there were 5 heroes in total, which makes them all the main and real heroes.

Plus when he said "Does the prologue end here?" he meant the start of his adventure. We'll get to know him more when he gets released global in Maplestory.

This is before the sealing of the black mage, we know Athena Pierce and Aran were present back then, as was mercedes. According to mercedes storyline, black mage has been sealed for over a century so Kyrin, Checky, and Claudine shouldn't even be alive back then on account of the fact that hey are now(Grendel is an acception since he was cursed by zakum).

There's also the fact that Cygnus is still alive despite being clearly present in the video, though her lifespan could be attributed to the power of the shinsoo.
