I just played an Auto(121) match on chasms against the prohpet. he rushed in the exact same way. without upgrades the prophet dies near instantly and could only get 1 honour guard through the teleporter. by this point i had got another hog out bringing my total to 4. i rushed in blew up 2 warehouses got a 5th warthog out and grenadier. the temple was destroyed quickly and by the time i had 8 hogs out the base blew up and but 7 honour guard to finish off. basically this rush would fail Anders-FTW

Little do people know that on this map, the Covenant can FOIL a bum rush by simply planting their temple on a socket hook instead of on the base itself.
A plus is that once your leader (I was the Prophet) has generated, just have him sit just in the range of the neutral base, and he will easily eliminate everything by himself, essentially giving you a free base!
I dont think Real time strategy games are for you. Try turn based if you dont wanna be rushed. And if your getting rushed all the time, you can rush a strong defense, which will ruin the opponents rush, and then counter with heavily upgraded units. Just a thought, but rushing is a coin toss, if it doesnt work, then that guy has nothing to use against a counter. A way I counter a rush is lock down units and when the time comes, unload em, and protect my valuable structures.
Rushing is a strategy. It tries to exploit people who take time to set up a fully upgraded army. It is important to always have a way to defend against the rush. If you can't, then you shouldn't expect to rank up anyway.

i think this is a bad rush. yea, it worked, but i just think theres an easier quicker way. instead of the expensive, slow building honor guards, you should just make barracks and pump out grunts. alot faster and cheaper

This strategy would work great vs. Anders, and especially if the player only goes warthogs. However I have seen a lot of regrets die because they can't target warthogs, it depends if the player can hit them. Elite honor guards become great defense and offense early attack.
the this would never work on a real person cause all you would have to do is lock the base and when you have about 5 flames and a few unsc and use your disrupt bomb but if your in a 1v1 and you know the other suck then it will work
i dont play unsc either but i was attacking this guy's base once and i was in a turret blindspot, he dropped a d-bomb on me and i was pinned there so his warthog could kill me
i usually just send prophet off thwe bat and right when hes ther just keep pumpin out honor guards and get them al to kill the enemies right when they come out

I've taken down rusher with up graded marines. I like surrounding 'em and blowin' 'em up with their rockets. then slowly make my way to their base. Thou one time I had this guy who took down my entire base with just a prophet within 3 minutes of playing. How embarrassing!
i usually build 3 or 4 warehouses after the temple, then build a few honor guards and continue building them. then if they sneak off and build another base before they die, build a shield generator and maybe vehicle depot or something. and obviously put your rally point in the hot drop right away. but if your leader dies, your rush strategy is kinda screwed.
i think you should have upgrade your base when you were recking his base at 5:05 because if he somehow survived you wouldnt be doing to well later and You were certain to finish of the base.

Ok if they want to controll a whole army verse another whole army then play Deathmatch. But the human units are made to be stronger than alien units, so being a covenant and not rushing is a simple loss against good players.
Actually covenant is the best to counter UNSC super units. Jackals shit on ODST's, Hunters shit on Grizzlies and Vampires shit on Hawks, So you can be good with the Covenant without rushing. You just actually need to be... smart. That's how I roll. It's not like I would wait 15 minutes and leave my enemy alone, but I always keep him in check and see what he's doing while my army is being built.
That's true, I agree that being smart is the only solution. But then Carpet bomb shits on Hunters and Cyro bomb shits on Vampires. And you have to remember that UNSC can build counter units to counter those counter units. So yeah, best thing to do is scout and be smart.
Hunters are not very good vs. grizzlies, and worse if they have spartans. Covenant is harass and assault, you don't seem to know them well enough. Better to have banshees vs. grizzlies.

Well, although I agree with you, I think that the main reason people do this is simply because it works! Unless your opponent can figure out exactly what you're planning to do (which they can usually) using your special abilities to your advantage is usually an excellent card to play.
The key is to not make an entire army of just one thing. Then you're just begging to get Wolverined or Cobrad. (If those coun as verbs now...)

I don't really know why people rush. I mean I assume that some people rush in order to try to get to general faster but rushing actually gets less points than playing a full length game (and it's not like you can rush to general anyway considering that you need 3,200,000 points). Although I never get tired of the rushes that fail so epically that the rushing team resigns because those are just plainly funny.

i usually am either prophet or arbiter and fully upgrade them as soon as possible Usually 7 mins if they try and rush and fail which they usually do if you do this right if they are warthog rushing and you are the arbiter they are dead arbiter kill warthogs in about 2 hits with arbiters rage kills gaus hogs no problem once fully upgraded try and get 1 scarab dont worry about 2 put leader at the front to take the damage so the scarab can sit back and shoot the base.

Rushing can be countered with a group of 'nade spamming marines. The only type of rush which is near impossible to repel is a Pelican rush and it takes some time to prepare.
Prophet & Arbiter rushes are easy to counter. You just have to know how. Basically what you want to do as human is try and build asap 5 anti-infantries and 2 turrets. That should cripple the first wave. After that you should try and build your army and destroy the temple first, the prophet or arby will most likely have powered up their leader powers.
its the fact that theres absolutely no skill involved in spamming stuff... if you spam nades in halo 3 your usually just too shit to fall back on your aiming skills... same thing applies here (except theres no aiming skills xD)

not if you only attack the supply pads. they die fast compared to other buildings. so knock them all out or at least some and it will save you time. but reactors have more health thn supply pads so dont bother

my best tactic for 2v2 is one player be prof. anders and another player by sgt. forge, if your sgt. forge spawn 3 supply pads and get tons of grizzlys, if your anders spawn 4 supply pads and get tons of hawks then you own air and ground!

Hunters are not very good vs. grizzlies, and worse if they have spartans. Covenant is harass and assault, you don't seem to know them well enough. Better to have banshees vs. grizzlies.

Rushing is not for noobs. If you cant counter a rush then you are truely a noob. Rush tactics are key components in all RTS games. I take it that this is your first RTS you have ever played, other wise you would know this.

lol rushing in this game is dumb. EVERYONE on xbox live tries to do this to me. the same every single time, professor anders always uses hawks, then forge uses only grizzlys and cutter always mass odst amounts, the noob who do this get owned easily. if your one of those people think of better tactics.

Well, although I agree with you, I think that the main reason people do this is simply because it works! Unless your opponent can figure out exactly what you're planning to do (which they can usually) using your special abilities to your advantage is usually an excellent card to play.
The key is to not make an entire army of just one thing. Then you're just begging to get Wolverined or Cobrad. (If those coun as verbs now...)

rushing can be countered..even though i rush when im being a total idiot. but usually plant some turrets and flamers along with a few warthogs before i go into the enemy base with others.
i also keep a close look on my base.

I don't really know why people rush. I mean I assume that some people rush in order to try to get to general faster but rushing actually gets less points than playing a full length game (and it's not like you can rush to general anyway considering that you need 3,200,000 points). Although I never get tired of the rushes that fail so epically that the rushing team resigns because those are just plainly funny.

I see that rushing is as hated in RTS, as camping in FPS, but like it or not, the only noob people, are those complaining, and losing to this LEGAL -maybe honorless-TACTIC.
Rushing is part of every RTS game, if you played RTS before you should know that.
Some ppl like to grow fat in tech and army and study all and then attack... so, if you like making buildings and population, play sim city or something.

i usually am either prophet or arbiter and fully upgrade them as soon as possible Usually 7 mins if they try and rush and fail which they usually do if you do this right if they are warthog rushing and you are the arbiter they are dead arbiter kill warthogs in about 2 hits with arbiters rage kills gaus hogs no problem once fully upgraded try and get 1 scarab dont worry about 2 put leader at the front to take the damage so the scarab can sit back and shoot the base.

Rushing can be countered with a group of 'nade spamming marines. The only type of rush which is near impossible to repel is a Pelican rush and it takes some time to prepare.

Prophet & Arbiter rushes are easy to counter. You just have to know how. Basically what you want to do as human is try and build asap 5 anti-infantries and 2 turrets. That should cripple the first wave. After that you should try and build your army and destroy the temple first, the prophet or arby will most likely have powered up their leader powers.

dont let them rush you see what they are building then build whatever counters that. after they attack you they lose. then you attack right after because they wont have anyone to protecet it or not many people at least. i have a record of 36 and 5 using that only no rushing. well i rushed 2 times but that was when i was a noob :)

not if you only attack the supply pads. they die fast compared to other buildings. so knock them all out or at least some and it will save you time. but reactors have more health thn supply pads so dont bother

Everything in this game has a counter, including rushes. Anybody who calls rushing "cheap" or "pussy-ish" is just a fag.
For example, Brute Cheiftan can be upgraded to stun when he attacks. This is very useful against prophet.

this rush works well. I have used it myself, but i think it kinda defeats the purpose of the game, its a little pussy-ish... My guess is there gonna make a patch for multiplayer that is not gonna let you attack for like two minutes or something.

im kinda a noob at halo wars and when i first played multiplayer the covenant did this rush to me and i was scared shitless. so if your versing a noob(you can tell because they tend to gather up resources first) then rush them with honor guards (not grunts ect) and it should be sucessful. replie back if you have and questions or comments

my best tactic for 2v2 is one player be prof. anders and another player by sgt. forge, if your sgt. forge spawn 3 supply pads and get tons of grizzlys, if your anders spawn 4 supply pads and get tons of hawks then you own air and ground!

I think spamming T4 is kinda gay though, takes the fun out of the game. But it is the best known 2v2 tactic, and I do use it a lot. No choice really, either spam or get spammed lol. I am trying to find a way to counter them.

I tried a Prophet rush, and my enemy had 4 warthogs and he circled my guys killing every one of them... couldn't do a thing.
They gave this game ranged and melee units for a reason.

Nothing is progressive about music bands, basketball or soccer either, but no one says that the professional sports/music players are sad. Its all just entertainment. People like watching other people play sports/music/video games etc., and because other people want to see them play then can make money from selling tickets. By saying that people shouldn't be able to make money off of video games is, dare I say it, just plain stupid. Just watch, within 10 years pro gaming will be huge.
