  • I've never done pot, but I feel they, physically, aren't any more harmful than cigarettes (probably less). However, the reason why I won't smoke it is because of what it does to people's attitudes. My friends and some of my family would smoke it and I always hated how they never wanted to do anything and never took anything seriously

  • This ad aired in 1992.

  • Even though I know the PSA'a about pot are really over exaggerated, (I mean, they still treat it like it's the worst drug out there when there's way more life-altering, even lethal drugs they could be trying to tackle) this ad is pretty well done. I think it's creepy as fuck seeing that guy floating around by strings.

  • This was my favorite drug PSA of all time. Though I know the message (at least for pot) is bullshit it is still a really creepy ass commercial.

  • there right the real puppets are the ones that let this shit scare them

  • expand your mind or be a puppet to propaganda

  • I know a lot of people make fun of these and say they're pointless and misleading. But honestly who gives a shit. If you wanna smoke pot more power to you. It's your money and it's your life. But I love these commercials and even though they can make pot seem more dangerous than it is I still love PSA's and hope they will make more like this because you all have to admit that the anti drug commercials today are a joke.

  • @jrmy6 I totally agree with you here. I myself am against the war on drugs, but I love the old anti-drug PSAs for the nostalgia and entertainment factors. I wish Partnership for a Drug-Free America would release a DVD compilation of every commercial they've ever produced. It wouldn't be that hard a task, considering all their spots ran anywhere from 10 seconds to a minute.

  • 'they're pulling your strings'

Like the government does you mean?

People that are too weak/simple minded/insecure/etc to make volitional decisions for themselves e.g. to smoke weed or not, are going to be 'puppets' one way or the other. Amazing, we've wasted billions of dollars on idiocy like this ad.

  • Soooooooooooooo...... What happened to the ugly puppet?

  • hahahahahaaa / I remember ! This came on along with others im still searchin' you tube for during Garfield and Friends

  • Im high...and now im scared to look up to see if i have strings on me...

  • @demonxthedk lol i feel you dog i just hope i dont watch this tomorrow on 1000mg of dxm and some dank shit hahahaa peace and weed

  • @maxxx4668 dont get jamarcus'd, bro :p

  • There was a popular urban legend (encouraged by our school's own health teachers) that this was the actual dead body of a boy who OD'd on drugs in this commercial. I'm sure other schools probably encouraged the same rumor for the same reasons. Fucking fear-mongers.

  • i have a poster of this in my health room at school...and the commecial is even dumber

  • @NotSoUndeadZombie You should take a picture of it. Never seen the poster version.

  • @outlaw2747 its pretty much the same thing, just that kid hanging from strings with a joint in his hand and it says "They say pot is cool. They're pulling your strings." i personally am for weed btw

  • pot isnt bad plain and simple. it will break those strings and set you free.

  • I'm looking for a PSA I saw from the 90's and all I remember was a car, a train, and in the end the car was smashed. I think it was an anti-drinking ad, but I can't remember. I anyone remembers what it's called or where I can find it, I'd appreciate it a lot. Thanks.

  • Wow I remember these commercials. Man I will admit when I was a child if someone told me I would one day be a proponent for the legalization of Marijuana I would called them a liar. The PSA's they have now are just to damned funny, like that deflated girl one. Man I laugh every time I see that one. Especially when I am high.

  • I don't remember this being in the 90's but I do remember seeing this ad on TV and i was really young, and it scared the shit out of me LOL Just hearing the music I'd turn the station. Just something too real about this to a kid.

  • this is like that nsync video when they're puppets..... minus 3 guys and the doosh known as justin timberlake...and a 100 times better. say no kids. say no to justin timberlake

  • This ad came on during my saturday morning cartoons when I was 11. It got in my head, and fucking STAYED there. The stuff nightmares are made of

  • This really sums up the puppetry of the anti drug movement. If crap like this is the reason you don't do drugs then you are a puppet.

  • @stigler30 Seriously, sometimes I wonder if these people are just trying to be ironic. "don't let your friends influence you, let the media do it!"

  • its funny because the GOVERNMENT is pulling YOUR strings

  • OMG! the puppet is scary!

  • He was smoking a jeffry

  • Jesus, thier anti drug psas were fucked up back then

  • @sillygrl23 yaa u should see the egg one? i mean what the hell? hows that supposed to help? its just an egg for gods sake!

  • @sasukeluver345 You mean the one with Rachel Leigh Cook who smashes the hell out of her kitchen? But yeah, this one made me think: "Oh my god, did that kid just strangle himself on those strings" *creepy death images later* D:

  • @sillygrl23 no i ment this one youtube.com/watch?v=3FtNm9CgA6U

  • An "above the influence" ad came out recently that reminds me of this one.

  • Whoh! this ad scared me as a kid.

  • It's funny becuse these adds are sponsored by partnership for a drug-free america which is funded by alcohol companies, alcohol, a drug worse than weed, they're doing it so it doesn't become legal and they can still make the same amount of money they do every year whilst millions world wide are killing themselves with alcoholevery year, weed has yet to kill a single person in over 10,000 years of use. WAKE UP, PEOPLE. DON'T PANIC, IT'S ORGANIC. LEGALIZE, DON'T CRITISiZE.

  • @MrNeptoonz Indeed

  • Ugh. This was terrifying.

  • seriously....i remember seeing this commercial in fourth grade and being freaked out. Effective ad, to say the least....

  • PDFA SEZ: If you smoke pot you'll turn into a lifeless mannequin!

  • *marionette

    whatever

  • Oh yes....saw this little gem of a PSA maybe ONCE back in the ninties, and it stayed with me ever since. I started looking for it on YouTube, or anywhere else on the web, but no luck.

Then about a year or so ago I was watching something completely different on YouTube, and suddenly there it was. I about had a heart attack. xD

  • @TheLadyYuki I hated these commercials growing up. They had a way of sneaking up on you when you least expected them. Who thought this was appropriate for kids to watch on Saturday morning is beyond me.

  • Well, I'm in my mid-twenties now and I've never smoked, so I guess these old creepy PSAs may have been good for something ^^

  • @TheLadyYuki o wow!

  • @TheLadyYuki This is quite possibly one of the scariest PSAs I have ever encountered as a child. I found it through a totally unrelated video as well.
