.5 inch arrows!!!!jesus!!! thats WAY too big I've seen people shoot 70lb bows(real ones, not thos metal things that look like bows)with 11/32" arrows. What makes a wooden arrow crappy are a bunch of factors-species and grain orientation being the most important.....
the guy with the compound is gonna seriously hurt someone or himself waving it about like an idiot, when the video says 'sorry for the poor quality'.....i hope its talking about the archery skill,to be honest none of these guys should be holdin a bow..........its like an episode of beavis and butthead
i dont know about anyone else but yes wooden arrows dont go with compound bows but you also at least have to have an arrow that is long enough for the draw length for the compound that guy with the compound is an idiot
@blorchdude4 The problem was that he had broken the tip off an arrow earlier.
Instead of keeping it separate like I advised, he put it back with the others.
Then he pulls out the broken arrow by mistake, and nearly shoots himself in the hand.
As for the wooden arrows: That all depends on whether you have the cheap wooden arrows like we were using here, or the 1/2" thick ones I use on bigger bows.
@NoahXBloodyXNoah: It depends on the bow as much as the arrows. It looks like that bow doesn't have cams, just concentric wheels, which is good. It also has very straight limbs, so I'm guessing not much let-off, so the power curve should be pretty smooth. Still, I'd never shoot wooden in any compound, but if you're gonna take the chance, that bow looks like a decent choice, given the options.
im sure you gotten this comment before but never use wood arrows on a compound ... unles sis like really weak ...and that guy could of eneded up with an arrow in his hand by the looks of it
because compound bows were not design to shoot wooden arrows...the poundage (draw weight) of the bow looks to be above 65 lbs , the wooden shafts can break hurting you and more importantly the bow ...so unless your draw weight is lower than idk 30 then you should be ok shooting wooden shafts .....get it ?
yea that's what I figured, but then I thought about the medieval arrows that were wooden and were shot from 100 lbs longbows so I figured something else must be the issue.
yes ... the cams are the problem on compounds.... the string moves foreword to fast ... i mean now in days we have 70 lbs that shoot carbon as fast as 340 fps....for example the mathews reezen, and there are double cams like the PSE omen that shoots 360/////...wooden arrows sometimes cant stand the pressure and give out....and hit you in the hand or eye or something ...
Doesn't anyone else enjoy just going out to the woods where the public don't go and just playing with your bows. I mean seriously it's way more fun than target archery. I did the targets for years shooting compound limited but bugger that for fun. Give me a badly made bow a load of fairly good arrows and a deserted wood and I'm all set for fun. P.S. we didn't drink till after the bows were put away. We just act this way
YESSSSSSS!!! going to the woods . .and shooting the bos . .that is what its all about man . . . . seclusion from the rest of the world and a nice bow . . . .
NEVER use wood arrows on compounds except on very low power ones, and NEVER use ones that are even a bit too short. The compound dude could have really been injured.
A good point. He hadn't got any arrows yet and mine should have been OK as they are used on huge draw weight longbows quite often but he hit a rock with one, and didn't notice the tip broke off. Still thats what you get for messing. lol
Thank god you can't take part in most organised archery shoots nowadays unless you've had some basic training. I was at a shoot a few years ago when an untrained archer overshot the target by over 100yds and found my leg instead, shattering my tibia.
It's not these people's fault that they can click on an ebay ad and next week they can be in the garden with a lethal weapon in their hands and clueless of how to use it safeley.
My advice is - 'Man who wants bow should first join club'
I (long hair) am not new to archery. I have won many regional and national awards using my PSE compound but am only breaking in a newly built flatbow in this video. As for sean, yes he's bloody deadly. Hence why I only went the once with him and 20 miles from the nearest bystander.
In field archery targets can be in line, behind, or in front of other targets... I forgive your lack of knowlege, Mr Spliff.
I didn't know we'd started talking about cars, and as for banning bows, that would be silly because i've got about eight and compete regularly.
P.S. It was his fault, I think, that's why I was awarded just over £10,000 to cheer me up. Do you do any sports or do your 'habits' render you too relaxed to exercise?
In all fairness.... I use to own an archery shop, made my own selfbows, shot recurves, longbows and compounds for around 40 years. This type of video just isn't right in my book. I love all bows and this was nonsense and dangerous. The compound was way to much pull for the guy. You could tell he had never shot before and should have been shown how. New a guy that once sent an arrow through his own hand due to inexperience. All types of bows should be loved and non should be mocked.
I (Hairy Dude) tried to teach him correct form many times. Some people don't seem to get it though but then it was his first time using a bow, and yes I know my form was wrong I was breaking in my flatbow so couldn't even draw it back yet at that stage without risk of limb failure.
I was braking it in so still shooting snap-shot style. I eventually got it back to its intended 32" draw but I spent 3 months doing it to ease the bow in. Obviously much more accurate at full draw but at this stage it was still a work in progress so I was just playing as its more fun than standing in the shed re-pulling the bow thousands of times per quarter inch.
The flatbow was not yet broken in for full draw. My normal draw is 32" but if I pulled to that straight away it would snap. Works fine at 32" now though ;D
man I wouldn't try shooting a bow with an arrow thats too short for the draw length.. you could get hurt pretty bad, just some advice no offense intended
I have the same compound, but 55 lbs-"Perfect line", made in Taiwan. A good bow, but at the begging is a little hard to manage with. I've mounted a red dot sight on it and now it shoots as accurate as the expensive compounds. If anybody is interested, i have some videos here. :)
He was pulling it wrong so was having trouble on the draw weight. Also he hadn't got the hang of the fingers/arrow position yet so the arrow kept popping of the rest.
I used to shoot a 115lbs pull compound for the whole day at comps when I was 15, and am bending in a 145lb homemade flatbow in the vid. BUT I still remember pulling a bow for the first time. I was not as dangerous as Sean but close.
colin: once the east anglian champion. sigh. doesn't say much for east anglia doz it, col. lol. axl's wicked wiv the stick tho. dudey. wots with the ginge wiv his bow? bravery points for goin wiv him- afta seein him swing it around ike that i wldnt
I don't mean this as a put down, but does that compound just have too heavy a draw weight for Sean? It seems like even once he has it back he is struggling with it. I have a craptacular shoulder, and I have trouble with most compounds and it seems like he is having the same types of issues I have.
Also, if someone showed me pictures of you two and said "guess the traditional archer", it wouldn't have been hard, lol.
don't use wood arrows with the compound you could hurt yourself and damage the bow. use aluminium or carbon arrows!!! the force of the compound breaks the wood arrow. PS: be shure you use longer arrows!!!
He was only using them cos we couldn't find any ware local to get aluminum ones. That arrow he pulls that was to short was one that had snapped and was picked back up accidentally. It gave him a very worrying moment. PS:Hairy bugger speaking.
Holly shit,it's fun until someone get F..k!

The guy using the compound needs to never touch a bow again based off the first 3/4's of the video's draw backs..

More like the shooter is unaware of how to use the bow.
The flatbow has not got a built in stop, and the 'shooter' doesn't appear to have an especially long draw.
